Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

I'm a fan of Yeeha Bob's show at the River Roost Lounge. We're going to WDW from Sept. 7 and I noticed that Bob's calendar on his website says he's leaving for New Zealand on Sept. 8 for 2 weeks. However, the entertainment schedule on WDW's Port Orleans website says he's performing on Sept. 10.

If anyone here is attending his show tonight or tomorrow, could you ask him about it? Or maybe a CM at the River Roost Lounge, I guess they would know as well. Just want to avoid going to Riverside one of those nights and not having a show.

Or is there usually someone else performing if he's away?

Thanks!

I would go by Bob's website calendar. The Disney one may simply be saying there is entertainment provided that evening, but they haven't updated it to say who is performing.

I mailed Bob and he already replied. So he‘s definitely going to New Zealand as his calendar says but there still should be some entertainment by someone else.

Reaching out to see how busy the quiet pools get. DD does not like pools with lots of people and we have booked a 5th sleeper to make sure we are in Alligator Bayou/quieter area. This will be last week of February (we are from VT so it'll seem warm enough to swim for us). Thank you!

We have found that the quiet pools usually have very few people in them. Most of the time we are either alone or there are two or three people in the pool. It might get a little more crowded at night, but the daytime often is empty. There is always the chance that a large group will swim, though.

We have a pool view room in October, so I will update this post if necessary. :)

I have always found the quiet pools quiet. It’s why I always request AB because we like relaxing at the quiet pools. Something else to consider, in some areas of AB like building 26 or similar, you could be almost equidistant from 2 or 3 different quiet pools, so if one is too busy for your tastes you could try one of the others.

This is good to know, thanks! We have booked a standard room 5th sleeper and we are using Touring Plans so we can do a room request. Should we request building 26? Also, does anyone know if I can request a corner room with Touring Plans? Thank you!

Building 26 is the first building we stayed at, during our first ever WDW stay, so nostalgia plays a part for me. It’s tucked away so if you don’t like walking the meandering paths of AB you may not like it. That being said, building 26 is right next to building 27, which is a preferred location, so it’s not the furthest away from the main building. Since you have Touring Plans, I suggest you check the map to see if you would like that location.

I am guessing you can request a corner room, but requests aren’t guaranteed as you probably know, and there are fewer corners than regular rooms, so it might be a harder request to meet. Coincidentally my first building 26 room was a corner. The first time we went I knew next to nothing so I didn’t even make a request, we just lucked out with a location we fell in love with.

Good luck.

I love walking and we are from VT, so we are all here for the greenery and quiet (but warmer weather in Feb., haha). Thank you!

If you want a room located fairly close to the main areas, close to a quiet pool, and roughly half-way between the South and West bus stops, I'd suggest requesting 16 or 17 and ask for a pool view corner room.

This is super helpful. Thank you!!

Something else to consider is if you are going to drive or rent a car. In those cases, 16 and 17 are great recommendations. Personally I don’t drive or rent a car, and I don’t want to end up with a parking lot view. For me it breaks the immersion. As I stated previously, my first stay was building 26. No parking lots, car, busses or traffic noise in the area of that building. I loved the immersion of the theming. The second time we went, I ended up in a first floor mansion section right off the parking lot. There were parking spaces 10 feet from my door. Zero immersion. I felt like I was staying at a generic motel. Since that stay I have always booked a category that guarantees that I end up in AB.

Long story short, I would rather have a longer scenic walk than shorter walks back to a parking lot view room. YMMV.

That would apply to 16 and 17 too, if you got a pool view.

But all of it is just down to requests. As from 1st January there is no way to absolutely guarantee you won't get a parking lot view, all five categories will have some parking lot views.

Will it also the case that booking “preferred location” won’t guarantee AB anymore? Will all the 5th sleeper rooms still be in AB? I love POR but I really didn’t prefer my one stay in the Mansions.

As of Jan 1 the only category you can book to guarantee AB will be 5th sleeper rooms and I think I read that you will have to have 5 people on your party to book them.

I thought I had read the same thing about needing 5 people to book a 5th sleeper, but then was told that wasn’t a thing. I hope it isn’t.

You can book 5th Sleeper with any party size, even one person if you want. And yes, that will guarantee an AB room.

Preferred Location in 2026 will still include all of 14, 15, 18 and 27 (apart from King Beds) - but it will also include the river-facing sections of 85 and 90 too. If you book Preferred Location with five people, that will still guarantee an AB room. You cannot book Standard or Royal with five people. Oh, and you can also guarantee an AB room by booking a King Bed room with three people.

I recently stayed in 2 different locations at AB. Our first room was 1652. We really loved this location. Very close to quiet pool, which was very quiet our entire trip. We didn't use it but did use the laundry facilities. We had a car and it was super convenient to both the parking lot and the main building. The 2nd half of my stay we were in building 26. Honestly, I didn't love building 26 as it was a more of a walk to both the main building and the parking lot. And the pool and laundry. Agree, that you are not at risk of having a parking lot view but I had a heck of a time making it to the main building and the laundry facility. I finally had to pull out my phone and look at the map!
