We're late for a very important date May 2013 TR Updated 5/17 New TR started!

I'm glad you were able to get your stroller in. But OMG what a hassle!

What a cute idea for the pillowcase! Love it. That's something I'm sure Gavin will really appreciate when he gets a little older. It's great that the characters came around again too once he woke up so that he could interact with them.

I remember Chip & Dale as Chip's nose is black like a chocolate chip!

All caught up! Glad yall had such a fun meal at Garden Grill. I love that place!

Another reason why I can't wait to be done with that stroller, lol. Stroller naps were great though... I hope he likes the pillow case! I remembered something about chocolate chips and the nose but I think I still had it backwards LOL

Daniel was really good about helping out with changing Gavin’s diapers at the park on Mother’s Day. (for what it’s worth he changes the majority of the diapers at home and even sprays the poopy diapers and helps with washing them. Vacation was different of course since his foot was broken – it was way easier for me to just do it)

Lucky lady! I get stuck with spraying the poopy diapers, DH has tried but he kind of gets it everywhere so I prefer to do it anyhow. :scared1:

Oh my goodness, Gavin interacting with the characters at Garden Grill is beyond precious. Thank goodness you were able to bring the stroller into the restaurant. I definitely don't blame you for not wanting to eat dinner with a sweaty baby strapped to you.

I feel like some of your stories are precursors to what's going to happen to me while I'm at Disney. :rotfl: I would probably have thrown my son in the Ergo on the walk to dinner, then transferred him to his stroller. It's impossible for them to sleep when you're not moving, and pretty hard to eat with them in front of you. So, I get why you really wanted the stroller inside. :goodvibes

My husband grew up in MD, so he would have loved all your Orioles shirts. :rotfl:

It wasn't until a couple years ago that I'd heard of Garden Grill- it's not a very popular restaurant- but it looks really good! And the concept of a rotating restaurant is really interesting. I'm glad you all enjoyed your meal there.
And, yay! A character interaction for Gavin! Seems to have gone over great with him. :goodvibes

Just reading along but wanted to mention that the plate with the sweet potato fries, chicken legs, etc was actually a children's meal at Garden Grill. Sometimes they will bring them out even for the very little ones.

We were actually at WDW at the same time and also at MK on 5/11 but we went specifically for the Merida Coronation. We were out of the park by noon since I started feeling so sick to my stomach (and sadly spent the rest of the day/night in the room) but it was so packed that morning. We were crammed with hundreds of others in our little spot in front of the castle waiting for the Coronation to begin. There was also filming going on all over MK that day with Gabby Douglas, Debby Ryan, Sophia Grace & Rosie, etc.

I also laughed when you posted about being stuck on the monorail while trying to get to the Poly. We were stuck that night as well at the same time but at the Contemporary. After leaving Chef Mickey's and getting on the monorail, I saw a CM walking by with some tools. Took awhile before were could get moving. So I have a feeling we were the ones holding you up.

Whew! Finally all caught up!

Hopefully I can remember everything I wanted to comment on as I was reading!

First of all, Gavin is such a little cutie!

What a bumpy start to your trip! But, great you made it there only a few hours later than scheduled!

AoA is an amazing resort! The Nemo rooms are adorable!!!! Disney hit a home run with that resort!!

The Wed Way is one of our favorites, too!! So glad Gavin enjoyed it!!

Your meal at Coral Reef looked very good! We haven't eaten there in quite a few years, but it may be one we attempt next trip...John wants to eat there so badly, but I've read some not-so-great reviews that have kept me from booking...I'm happy to read you all really enjoyed it!

Figment....the original was SO much better and it made more sense! I'm glad Gavin liked it! Laura did, too, so that makes it all worth it! :-)

Your Photopass pictures in MGM are great! The prom pose is a little odd of a request though! You pulled it off though...without looking like you were at Prom with your brother! Yikes! Haha!

Star Tours is awesome! It's definitely a favorite here!!

So glad you were able to bring your stroller into Garden Grill! Obviously that CM doesn't know what it's like to have to try to eat while wearing a small sleeping child!!! Good to read you had a fantastic Mother's Day meal!!

Loved the recap of Gavin's first birthday! A Mickey theme was the perfect choice of course!!!

Can't wait to read more!!! :-)

That's funny - it was the opposite here in our house at first. Every time I tried to spray the diapers I used too much pressure and ended up making a mess. I'm doing better now, haha.

Oh goodness I hope not - I hope your first trip with the baby is a lot smoother than ours! ;)

That's cool! Where at in MD did he grow up? Probably not anywhere near us. We live in a small city.

I guess Garden Grill isn't that popular? This was the first trip we ever discussed eating there. I guess it just kinda blends in there in the Land. I'm glad we gave it a try, it was really good!

Well that was very nice of them to give us a kids platter. The food was really good! That's so cool that we were there at the same time! Did you like being there for the coronation? I wish we would've known about it, as coming into the park after 12 on that day was crazy I wish we would've went somewhere else or at least gotten there early enough to see all the commotion. Clearly we were oblivious to what was going on around us, lol.

Oh no! I'm sorry you were on the broken monorail! Hopefully you didn't want to wait too long. I'm not sure how long we were sitting there, maybe 10-15 minutes?

Thanks for reading!

Thanks for reading! When I was looking at your room pictures from AoA Lion King room it was weird because I was used to the colors of the Nemo room - it looked really cool though! I can definitely see future visits there.

Coral Reef was really good both times we ate there! I'm sure Laura would love it too!

Clearly that CM did not have kids, haha.

I can't remember, did Laura have a minnie mouse birthday? It seems like all the kids here on the DIS that I know had either mickey or minnie for their first birthday haha. It's cool Laura and Gavin are so close in age!

Great night!

Can't wait for the "Mexico It's a Small World." :rotfl: We actually got Dug Baby the plushes of the characters from it and Donald quacks goodnight to her before bed.

I always like to sit in the back of the Maelstrom and turn around and look out at that point you're talking about!

Mmmm, school bread!

Dole Whip with rum...that sounds fun! But, if you have to drop it, a John Stamos sighting is a good reason! :rotfl2: That's pretty cool!

Pool time looks fun. We've been doing swim lessons with Dug Baby and she's loving it too! Glad Gavin had a good time. And that's awesome that there's an underwater sound system...I didn't know that.

Ah, the days of babies that would stay in one place... :cloud9: Glad you got a shower in!

Oh, and the Mother's Day flowers were a nice surprise for you! Very sweet!

Paxton loves It's a Small Mexico too! I think he mostly loves looking for Donald and waiting for him to pop up somewhere.

I would FREAK if I saw Uncle Jesse walking around WDW!! I :lmao: when you said Brandan dropped his Dole Whip in all the excitement. :rotfl2: That man has aged SO well. Did you see Jesse & the Rippers on Jimmy Fallon a few months back? PERFECTION!

Gavin looks so happy in the water! What a cutie pie.

Oh, and if you think it's sad now to look back at pics from your trip and compare to how big he is now, wait till he's 3! :(

What a great Mother's Day. Those flowers were so lovely and a hidden Mickey gem?? Very nice.

That's so funny that you mentioned my aha moment for Malestrom! I just never realized!:lmao:

Your celebrity sighting sounds like another Diser who posted here in his TR about seeing John Stamos in WS. From the photo in Glenn's TR, John still looks really fine. (You are much younger than me so he may seem like an old guy to you!)

Gavin's first time in the pool sounds like such fun! What a great way to wrap up the day.

Glad to hear your brother loves Salisbury. My son loves it there, too. He really made a great choice when he decided to go there. As a parent I am pleased with the school as well.

Oh no to the stroller fiasco. I'm glad your DH was able to bring it in. That's ridiculous not to let a sleeping baby stay put.

Dinner looks yummy! I enjoy the Garden Grill. Yummy food. Glad that Gavin woke up in time to get a little character interaction.

Now back to read your latest update!

Somebody else just posted an update where they saw John Stamos and he was actually taking pictures with guests. That's pretty cool. I am sure I would be a little star struck too.

What a lovely Mother's Day surprise! Perfect.

And a nice swim to end the night. That's an adorable picture of Gavin!

I can't remember, did Laura have a minnie mouse birthday? It seems like all the kids here on the DIS that I know had either mickey or minnie for their first birthday haha. It's cool Laura and Gavin are so close in age!

Laura DID have a Minnie theme, yes!!! You're so right about everyone's first being either Mickey or Minnie on the DIS! Haha! It's just such a perfect choice!! :-) That is neat Laura and Gavin are so close! Its funny, I know SO many people who's first little ones have July birthdays!

Okay, onto your update, which was great!!

A spiced rum Dole Whip?!? Oh my! Where exactly can this be found?!

I "Oh My Goshed" out loud while reading you saw John Stamos!!! John asked what was wrong and I had to explain nothing was wrong, I was just excited! He was not as impressed, but then again, he wasn't the one who had a major Uncle Jesse crush when he was younger, so he just doesn't understand!! Hahaha!

Beautiful flowers for Mother's Day! That was very sweet! :-)

The end to your night sounded great! Gavin seemed to really enjoy his swim! That pool is amazing! Glad you all enjoyed yourselves!!!

Been having trouble keeping up everywhere, but I am now up-to-date on your report.

Boo on the stroller drama! Glad you were able to bring it in and that Gavin slept through most of the meal. I'm even gladder that he woke in time for some characters. The pictures are just too cute!!!

We haven't dined at the Garden Grill but the concept of a rotation restaurant overlooking Living with the Land is really neat!

I loved reading about your Stamos sighting. Too bad a Dole Whip had to lose its life as a result of the encounter!

You had a great, busy Mother's Day with a perfect ending at the pool with your guys. Nice flowers, too!

:goodvibes

Oh goodness I hope not - I hope your first trip with the baby is a lot smoother than ours! ;)

That's cool! Where at in MD did he grow up? Probably not anywhere near us. We live in a small city.

He grew up in a town called Prince Frederick. He says it's pretty small, and he lived way out in the country, so he never expects anyone to know it. :rotfl:

I love those Monsters U topararies! It's a great movie, definitely watch it when it comes to DVD.

Aren't strangers that entertain your baby the best??? :rotfl2: Now that Landon's become more aware of his surroundings, I appreciate it when other people keep him entertained.

I've done the smoking section accident before here at home. Oops. It happens, though.

John Stamos?! That's awesome!

So Gavin did well in pool for the first time? Did he think it was just a supersized bath? I'm not kidding, I'm taking notes. :rotfl2: Landon's never been in a pool before, but I'm thinking he might go in it during our trip. Hopefully he does as well as Gavin!:goodvibes

Oh, and the Mother's Day flowers were a nice surprise for you! Very sweet!

oh that is so cute! Hopefully she will recognize Donald & friends and love the ride!

Next time I will be in the lookout for that part of the ride, can't believe I never noticed!

At least he was able to salvage the dole whip - I think he just lost the rum part if I remember correctly.

I'm sure Dug baby will love the pool!

Yes, totally miss babies that aren't mobile LOL!

Paxton loves It's a Small Mexico too! I think he mostly loves looking for Donald and waiting for him to pop up somewhere.

Oh, and if you think it's sad now to look back at pics from your trip and compare to how big he is now, wait till he's 3! :(

I'm sure Gavin will continue to love Small World Mexico too. That silly Donald!

I was seriously SO star struck for the rest of the night and we didn't even talk to him LOL. I didn't see it, but I looked it up on YouTube OH MY GOODNESS! I've watched it like 2 or 3 times and sent it to Daniel and Brandan as well. I loved his hair, priceless!

Ugh I can only imagine. It's hard to believe Paxton is 3, I can remember reading your trip report before he was born. Time goes too fast!

What a great Mother's Day. Those flowers were so lovely and a hidden Mickey gem?? Very nice.

That's so funny that you mentioned my aha moment for Malestrom! I just never realized!:lmao:

The hidden Mickey gem was a nice touch!

It's one of those "oh my goodness" moments thats for sure. I just still can't believe I didn't notice. Next time!

That's so cool! He seems like a really nice guy. I just didn't want to bother him. I'm sure he was just trying to have a nice evening in Epcot without everyone and their brother noticing him. I guess since it was getting dark/dark it was easier to not be spotted? He didn't have one of those guides with him.

Glad to hear your brother loves Salisbury. My son loves it there, too. He really made a great choice when he decided to go there. As a parent I am pleased with the school as well.

Now back to read your latest update!

It's a really nice campus! And for the price it's about the same per year as the university we have here and it's a much better school. I think he made a good choice, I just miss him like crazy!

I was glad Gavin woke up to meet the characters since it went so well!

Maybe if I see him again I won't be afraid to ask him for a picture!

It was a perfect end to a perfect day. It's going to be hard to top!

That's so cute and funny every 1st birthday has been Mickey or Minnie! It's like an unspoken DIS tradition haha.

The rum dole whip was part of the booths they had for the Flower & Garden festival. They were set up in every country like the F&W booths. This was the first year they did it.

Seriously, it's not everyday that you see Uncle Jesse walking through the world showcase!

Been having trouble keeping up everywhere, but I am now up-to-date on your report.

:goodvibes

Garden Grill was awesome! We probably skipped it in the past because of it being a character meal. It's definitely worth a try, the views are great and the food was really good too. And who can resist an adorable farmer Mickey! I'm so glad he woke up too, the interaction was priceless! It was a very exciting day, I couldn't have imagined a better ending. Which reminds me, I forgot what we had planned that night...

He grew up in a town called Prince Frederick. He says it's pretty small, and he lived way out in the country, so he never expects anyone to know it. :rotfl:

Never heard of it, but that isn't saying much... we're from a small place too!

I can't wait until Monsters University comes out on Tuesday. We're going to probably rent it online so we don't have to wait. Hopefully Gavin sleeps long enough that night for us to watch it after he goes to sleep :)

Yes, entertaining Gavin is the best! He is such a ham... he waves and smiles and says "hi" repeatedly to people when we're out. I'm actually surprised that some people ignore him. But then again, before he was born I probably would've thought the parents would think I was a creep if I said hi. But seriously, you can smile at my adorable dude when he is waving and talking to you! lol.

He absolutely LOVED the pool. I just wish that we would've made more time to go to the pool. I guess it was like a huge bath tub to him haha.

It looks like you guys had a wonderful night in Epcot. I think my jaw would have dropped if I saw Uncle Jesse at WDW. I still love that episode of Full House where they travel to WDW. I think of it everytime I pass the Grand Floridian, Coral Reef, or the Sword in the Stone.

How sweet of your boys to surprise you with flowers on Mothers Day. What a beautiful arrangement.

The pics of Gavin in the pool are precious.

It was unreal! I love that episode too! I think about it at Disney a lot too. I think that's why I love Coral Reef so much! Thanks!
