We're late for a very important date May 2013 TR Updated 5/17 New TR started!

As a Mother’s Day present to me, Gavin slept all night until 6 am
That's an awesome present! Gavin looks so comfy in his pjs.

How fun that you were able to spend your first Mothers Day at WDW.

I can't believe you were shown the door at Muppets 3D before the movie even started. Some of the kids that talk during rides/movies are much louder than a fussy baby.

That was very nice of Gavin to let you sleep on Mother's Day uninterrupted!! :rotfl:

You did quite well getting to DHS so early with a baby and a hubby with a broken foot. Such a nice touch that they give flowers to the ladies (moms). Those Starring Rolls goodies look pretty awesome!

Glad you enjoyed the Star Tours ride. I like the underwater version. Pretty good 3D effects that they have for that attraction.

haha - love the pic! Sorry he had slept through so much - but I guess in the long run that is a good thing

Definitely not a bad thing when a baby sleeps too much LOL!

Hi Melissa! Joining in late, and I'm still catching up.

Gavin is adorable. He seems like such a good little traveler.

The nemo suite looks incredible and the resort is very picturesque!

I love the first photopass of Gavin passed out. His stroller looks comfortable. I still haven't bought a stroller, we just have a snap and go. Do you like your britax?

His first birthday pics are so sweet. You did a great job with all of the decorations. I hope to try baby led weaning as well, I'm happy to read you like it. :goodvibes

Thanks for reading! The Nemo suite was awesome and we loved the resort, so Disney! We bought that Britax for Disney. Before that we only had the travel system stroller that came with the infant car seat that we used like twice when he was super little. We use the Ergo, so we are not stroller people by any means. the Britax was amazing for Disney. It handles really well. Our musts for a stroller were the sun shade which is huge on the Britax and it reclines almost flat so he was able to nap it in all over the (Disney) world! Definitely highly recommend baby led weaning!!!

Hi Melissa. I'm caught up!
Oh my gosh! You went to MK on Merida's coronation day. That must have meant huge crowds!

I like your table at Coral Reef. We've been seated in the top tier and by the tank and I think I prefer the top tier so that you get the entire expanse of the aquarium. That and people don't crowd around your table to see the fish.

That is an adorable photo of Gavin inside Bruce.

So did your tongue turn orange after eating that cheesecake? :)

Going to the MK after that warning definitely wasn't the best idea. I think you are right - by sitting in the top tier we still had a really good view and nobody annoying us (or the sleeping baby!) while we were eating so it was a win win. I definitely had a multi colored mouth after the cheesecake :thumbsup2

I remember the days of holding a baby while pushing the stroller and feeling so ridiculous doing so, but we gotta keep those babies happy! Now when he doesn't want to be in it, he wants to push it himself, so getting older brings all kinds of fun new challenges. :lmao:

That cheesecake looks delicious!

LOL that's funny. I was hoping to be able to ditch the stroller the next time we go to Disney but Gavin will be 2 and I'm sure having it for him to be able to pass out at the parks again will be nice.

It was so good! It's cheesecake on top of red velvet cake.

Yes, most definitely a Patriots Fan!

I think I was commenting on how great you all looked in matching gear.

However... my son Ben played flag football for the Ravens and the shirt is one of his favorites. He wears it all the time. I posted a picture of the 4 of us at a family reunion on the Beach Club FAQ thread because it was a nice picture of us- I didn't notice what he was wearing. I got a lot ribbing because there a many New Englanders on the board and everyone knows that I root for the Patriots.

:rotfl2:

Well thank you for the compliment :) Haha I bet you did get a lot of giggles at the shirt. My DH is a die hard Baltimore Orioles fan. When he played baseball as a kid he played for the Yankees. My younger brother played for the Red Sox. :rolleyes1

I'm all caught up on your report!

:cool1:

Really cute pictures on the Peoplemover!

I didn't remember that you haven't been on it before! It is a really nice ride, usually the line is nice and short. We use it a lot if we are waiting for a FP to mature in Tomorrowland. In fact, often the standby and FP times for Buzz will be about the same, 30 minutes or so, so we pull a FP and ride the Peoplemover so we can enjoy two attractions in the same amount of time.

I love the pictures of your room, and the pictures that your Brandan took of the elevator murals. What awesome details!

Bummer about the bloody shirt from the fingernail trim. My DH always had fingernail duty when the boys were young. I was the "tooth" parent, he was "nails"

Nice job getting to Coral Reef on time! It is probably best that Gavin slept through most of the meal so you could relax and enjoy. Everything looked really good. The boys wanted to switch out our La Hacienda reservation for Coral Reef since it has been quite a few years since we have been there. You will see in my next update whether we made the right choice or not (Shameless Plug :rotfl2:)

What is a Coconut Freeze??? YUM!!! I am a sucker for anything with coconut!

LOVE the pictures with Bruce! I noticed the EPCOT logo. Were those photopass pictures or did you upload some of your own pictures?

Thanks for reading! I also cannot believe it was our first spin on the PeopleMover. I can see how it is a great time killer in between FPs! So many details at AoA. I love that resort! That's funny - my DH somehow became the nail trimmer and I am the tooth brusher!! I read your last update and I think you made a good choice. La Hacienda looked amazing!! The coconut freeze was basically a coconut smoothie. It was yummy! I like when you can get smoothies as a drink on the DDP. They actually had a PP photographer at Bruce!

Your dinner at Coral Reef sounds delicious; I'm glad you all enjoyed your food. Question, did you take the stroller into the restaurant since Gavin was asleep? And if so, were there any issues?
Aghhh...I never realized how much there is to think about when you have a baby with you. So grateful I'm reading your TR; you've given me several little notes to keep in mind while I'm there.

I'm surprised your DS wasn't that into the aquarium or Turtle Talk. I would've thought they would have captured his attention. :confused3 Once again, another thing I have to expect while in Disney. :lmao:

Isn't the tie-dye cheesecake delicious? It's good you were able to get some after you left Epcot.

Strollers aren't allowed in restaurants but they make an exception if the child is sleeping. Gavin slept through a lot of our meals. We only ever had ONE issue with him and the stroller and it was at The Land in Epcot. Should be coming up soon on my TR, lol. I'm hoping I have this TR finished before you leave! That is one of the reasons I wanted to write this TR. Before we went, I couldn't find TR of people taking infants and I wanted to read as much as possible. I really thought Gavin was going to the love the shows and the fish, oh well - babies! LOL. I would love me some tie dye cheesecake right now, yummy!

The funny thing is I didn't realize it until way after we moved our trip from January to May that we would be there for Mother's Day! It was perfect!

I really was shocked they basically told me to leave - how rude!

That was very nice of Gavin to let you sleep on Mother's Day uninterrupted!! :rotfl:

Sleep was the best present he could've given me! We didn't get the underwater version but it was still pretty fun!! I love 3D attractions.

I know I read some of those updates before, but must not have gotten around to commenting. Anyway, just got all caught up. Of course, after reading so much, I've forgotten most of what I was going to say...so here's what I remember:

Super cute picture of Gavin on the Peoplemover. We love that ride. It's a must-do for us, especially after dark!

You have made me really want a chocolate peanut butter cupcake from Starring Rolls! Those are so good!

Love all the pictures of AoA...looks really cool.

Looking forward to more!

We found DHS to be really difficult to manage on Paxton's first trip. He couldn't ride most of the attractions and didn't have the attention span for most of the shows! It was a lot better last year when he was older and able to sit through more things without losing interest. Seems like y'all did well there though! Except for getting basically kicked out of Muppets, what is that about?? :confused3

Mmmm, Pizza Planet! We haven't eaten there in entirely too long. We will have to rectify that next trip!

That's really a bummer than Brandan didn't want to ride RnRC! I'm glad Daniel still decided to ride though and not miss out on his favorite ride. I used to be like that too and couldn't imagine myself ever using the single rider lines or riding alone with FP. Then we had Paxton and I realized not going alone on some things would mean not riding them at all, so I got over it. :rotfl:

That's okay! I'm so bad about commenting, I'm usually reading on my phone and too lazy to type.

Thanks!

Yeah HS is kinda hit and miss... shows/attractions and not a lot of "rides" especially for the younger ones. I'm sure it will be better as he gets older. The pizza there was so much better than I remembered!! I don't get it either, I hope he gets over it soon since there will definitely be trips with just the three of us and I'm riding EE, Soarin', and Space Mountain alone LOL.

Happy Mothers Day! What a cute shirt.

You received the perfect gift from Gavin-within his budget and totally appreciated by you, I'm sure!

What a cute smile he has!

So that is a bummer that you had to leave the Muppet show. I hope the guy who showed you the door was trying to help you out if you wanted to go and not literally showing you the door.

I got that fruit tart at Starring Rolls during my solo lunch. I wish I had someone with me to share a cupcake too. No. No I don't. My solo lunch was heaven. :cloud9:

I WANT THE UNDERWATER SCENE AT STAR TOURS!!!

Sounds like the squirt fan was a great purchase.

Food at pizza planet looks good- I have never been there. Nate got pizza there once (and brought it into 50's primetime)- long story.

I can't believe the CM at TSM could not find a way to make it work for you all to get a chance on the ride. First Mothers Day. Daddy in a wheelchair. First time visitor. Hello!!!???!!!

What a bummer that Brandan didn't ride RNR with Daniel. But they say you shouldn't force the kids on the rides.

:rotfl2:

Those last couple of photopass pictures of all of you are fantastic!

:goodvibes

Sleep is always the best present! My DH can get off cheap and easy now - don't buy me anything just let me sleep in or have a nap on birthdays/holidays haha.

I was hoping the same thing, that he was just letting me know I could leave if I needed to, but his presentation was a bit off and I felt like he was telling me to leave then so I just went.

I would totally trade a quiet lunch alone without a shared cupcake to a chaotic one with teenage boys any day haha. Although I probably would've just eaten the cupcake alone...

The underwater scene must be pretty cool? I don't remember water and I don't know anything about Star Wars to even try to remember what scenes we had. I want to be the rebel spy!

That must be a good story about pizza planet pizza at 50s prime time.

I think Brandan felt terrible that he chickened out after all those "little kids" he described got off the ride talking about how awesome it was.

Thanks! I was so glad I got the PhotoPass CD again this time for the family pictures.

I just found your TR from Natebenma's (Dee's) TR. I read almost all of it.

Wow a rough start to your trip! So much date changing and cast changing. So glad your younger brother went with you. How great that you were able to spend time with him prior to him moving to the Eastern Shore for college.

Now I just have to ask where he attends school- UMES or Salisbury University? I think those are the only schools in the area. Only asking because my oldest son is a junior at Salisbury and loves it there.

I can't believe your DH broke his foot right before your trip. Such bad luck.

Oh - and the flight situation. I fly out of BWI a lot and know that you need to be there just a tad earlier to get through security. What a bummer. That girl definitely gave you bad info. And then having to fly to Flint, Michigan. OMG! You really took it in stride.

You son is absolutely adorable! Love the first picture of him. How cute. I give you kudos for traveling with a baby. It's so much work, but so worth it. Seems like you had a great time with a few bumps.

Oh - and the Ohana ADR. OMG what a wait. Glad it was such a yummy meal.

Love your room. Just gorgeous.

What is it about guys not wanting to go on rides along?! I know EXACTLY what you mean about being in DHS and trying to get someone to go on their favorite ride. My husband loves RNRC and ToT, but he refuses to ride ToT because I won't, and passes RnRC twice since I was pregnant. :confused3 Makes no sense. I sure used the single rider line when I was there with my mother. :rotfl:

I'm sorry to hear Gavin was really fussy while you were at DHS. And of course it was when you needed to go on a ride...

Everyone who's been to Hollywood Studios with an infant says it's difficult to do, due to the lack of kid-friendly activites. Your update sort of supports that...did Gavin like the stroller before the trip? I only ask, because my son goes on 40 minute walks with me, so he's sort of used to being strapped in, and I'm hoping that'll help some when I'm riding the coasters.

Mmmm, that cupcake looks so good!!

I'm glad you managed to get the stroller into the Garden Grill and keep Gavin asleep! I've heard they are very picky about strollers at The Land and I guess so! I'm not sure that it's actual Disney policy to always let in sleeping babies in strollers, but I think generally they make it a point to accommodate, if possible. So I've heard, since I have yet to experience this.

It's been a few years since we went to the Garden Grill, but I don't remember that chicken/mac/fries platter at all! Maybe it's new? Looks good, though! We really liked the Garden Grill too. Good food, cool view, great characters. I bet it's a decent place to sleep too, with the gentle movement and all. We also had the characters come around twice, by the way, so maybe that's the norm. I'm glad Gavin caught them on the second lap. So sweet that he loved them!

I remember going to WDW when I was 13 and I had LOVED Figment. I remember getting a little Figment stuffed animal as a souvenir, even. I don't remember specifics, but the ride is nothing at all like what it used to be. I think it would still be fun for a baby, though, so we'll do it with Dug Baby, but it's not the same thing it was at all.

Looking forward to hearing what happens next!

The Land is the only place that we had any problems. Garden Grill was amazing and accommodating though. I hope Dug Baby does just as well with the characters! I guess I just missed the boat on Figment since I didn't experience him until I was well into adulthood. I'm sure I'm in the minority though. But then again, there are several things that I'm supposed to like at Disney that I don't (Haunted Mansion, turkey legs...) I know, bad DISer!

Thank you so much for coming over and reading!! Brandan goes to Salisbury. He loves it there. I fell in love with it too, I kinda wish I would've moved there for school when I was in college! We live an equal distance from PIT, BWI, Dulles, and Reagan. In the past we have just went with whatever is the cheapest, but I prefer BWI. Thank you! It was really hard to plan the trip so far out not knowing what he was going to be like. Even with the airport mishaps, he did really well and I would do it again in a heart beat. Right now in early toddlerhood you couldn't pay me to take him to Disney it would be a disaster! I think timing is everything. Hopefully 2-2.5 will be a good time to take him back!

Mmmm, that cupcake looks so good!!

I don't get it either, lol. My DH and I agree that HS is a difficult for the younger crowd. At 9 months old, shows were not entertaining to him otherwise it might've been better since there are a lot of them.

We weren't stroller people before this trip. The only stroller we had was the one that we bought as a travel system and hated it, we only used it a few times because of being able to snap the car seat into it. We bought the Britax specifically for Disney. I read SO many reviews. Our requirements were - awesome sun shade, easy to maneuver, and full recline. I was going to get a City Mini but stumbled on the Britax which is basically the same thing for a lot less. I'm so glad we got it, it was great for Disney. He took all of his naps in the stroller, we never had to go back to the hotel for naps (Gavin was at the height of his terrible sleeper-ness so it never would've worked anyway it was just luck that he was taking 2-3 naps in his stroller by himself while at Disney!)

Cupcake was amazing!!

That's awesome that Gavin's first pizza and French fry were at WDW!! Glad that he loved the characters at GG. I agree, what a great Mother's Day gift.

I'm sure you had a great deal of satisfaction pushing the stroller out of The Land by the CM! :rotfl2: That's awesome.

BTW: I just don't "get" Figment and the Journey into Imagination either. I'm completely fine with them re-theming that pavilion.

Glad I'm not alone in the dislike of Figment. Don't even get me started on Captain EO...

All caught up! Glad yall had such a fun meal at Garden Grill. I love that place!
