Booking for group of 7 on delta

I have been checking for flights on delta. When I put 7 passengers the price is higher than if I put 4 or 3. If I book for 4 of us then book for 3 of us will the price for both be the lower price? Should I split the group to get the lower price?

There may be a blend of pricing currently in place- not all 7 available seats are the same price. Depending on the algorithms, the system may be totaling up different pricing or charging a flat rate for all 7 seats.

My experience, albeit not on Delta, is that if there are X seats at one fare and you put in more than X, all seats will be at the higher fare. If you split the booking, you will get the lower fare for at least part of the group. I have also done a split booking and gotten the lower fare for both groups. Not sure why but it has happened for me.

Thanks so I guess we won’t know until I try a split booking. I wonder if I make an account for one other and they book it in their account we would all be able to get the lower price?

Don’t think different accounts matter. It’s how many seats are available at the lower fare. Again, my experience is not with Delta so YMMV.
