Good Morning!

Junior is at the dr. right now. We think he has diabetes. He had to fast overnight and they will check his blood. Please send :goodvibes: his way.

I miss the sun, too, Elaine. Its been so dark and dreary and rainy. Blech. But, tomorrow is supposed to be :sunny: and 54. YAY!

Good morning....

Yesterday was a looong day..... went to the mall with Alyssa - she ended up getting a tank and ruffled T (both colors that are in her shoes) to wear to NY.They are both so excited about going. After that I had to drive her all the way to Ryans...got home just in time to walk in the door and sit at my desk to work till 11pm......

As for that phone call - I can't imagine why he called and why he wanted to talk to me????? I mean if he called and asked to talk to Alyssa I would think it was odd (after 2 1/2 yrs) but something she would have to deal with...but why me??? Those that know me know I don't have a rude bone in my body but honestly why was he telling me about being engaged?? He broke my little girls heart - I really don't care.....Anyway ......it was just so odd.....

Sherry - sending good thoughts for Junior
Elaine - gppd morning early riser!! :flower2:
Karen - ::yes:: I'm kinda "stalled" diet wise too - time to step things up I think.
beth :flower3:
Suzanne - :headache: frustrating that teachers can't provide time for all parents - hope the conference goes well.
Nancy - there's an end in site to your yucky weather... :earsboy:

Today I think I am going to go buy tires ...should be interesting.....

More later.....

good morning gang,

ran out of time last night to post...after "discussing" with my child about why he shouldn't hit people just because they are standing next to him  and getting the response..."well I was tired and grumpy". ugh!! and then I went and got his increased meds filled. I was going to wait until the others ran out so that I didn't waste my money...but you gotta do what you gotta do. BUt I'm feeling better about things...we have the counseling appt today and I he hasn't been kicked out of school just yet...so I'm thinking we are doing okay!!! :rotfl2: I keep singing "I will survive!!"

Anyway, life here is good.

Gonna go and get my lesson plans done for today's absence!

hugs to all!!

tara

Hi all... tired already... feel like napping!

Sherry, I really do hope that we get that weather! I am dying for some real sun around here! Best wishes to Junior though

Huh, I would have nooooo clue why that guy would bother calling. To tell you about him being engaged too? That seems wrong and just plain mean spirited! I am glad you've done some good shopping there though :)

Tara, I love how you always laugh at your life... I try to, but my life is boring compared to yours. However I was thinking... don't ya just wish you could blame things like that on being "tired and grumpy"?

Not sure what I am up to today... I probably should get the tree down....

Ugh..... first day I feel a *teeny, tiny bit human* again. :guilty:

I have officially been sick for one week now. The good news is that the stomach virus thing seems contained - now if I could only shed the sinus and chest cold/asthma illness.

Of course DS had been the only person at the house who hadn't caught the flu bug - well, guess who is home sick from school today..... :guilty:

I've been reading and catching up - a lot of that server is busy messages!

:wave2: Hi Nancy!!!

Pam, sorry to hear y'all have been so sick. I hope you kick that sinus thing soon too! Mine is slowly going away.

Oh and that server busy message  been getting it a lot myself!

I almost forgot though... I bought Third Day concert tickets :hyper:

Elaine...Jimmy Buffett has a song that says if we didn't laugh we would all go crazy!! That's my motto!! (either that or eat an entire cheesecake without sharing, or devour500 mini reeses cups, or ingest any number of other calorie busting things!! :teeth: )

Okay, so I'm sitting here thinking about all the things I need to do and it occurs to me that I still have not finished my christmas cards!! oh duh!! I have a whole pile of people that I needed stamps for and never got out. I finally have stamps and then I forgot to mail them...so I am going to get those out this afternoon!! We'll call it extending christmas just a bit longer!! hehehe I'm such a dork...maybe if the 8th dwarfs are sleazy, clumsy, and hungry then I can be the 13th and be "dorky"!!!

Ketchup:
Nancy...do we need to send you WD40 instead of sunscreen?? ;)
Pam...hope you get to feeling better and hope DD feels better too. I loved the family picture of you guys!!
Sherry...good vibes to Junior and his diabetes test.
Paula...glad you all had fun shopping. I don't find shopping as much fun now when I'm dragging screaming kids!! Ethan is fine while we are in the main part of hte mall...but if we walk into a store he begins to scream and thrash like someone is sticking a hot poker in his eye!!!

Got an email from Jar's teacher and she said that all kids go off their rockers occassionaly and they do just fine!! I think mine may have broken the rocker though!!

okay, really going to work now!!
tara

Tara,

I haven't finished my cards yet, at least they say "happy 2006"!

Oh, if anyone is debating buying from everythingipod's website, they are super fast. I got the 'your item shipped at 1pm" message yesterday and when I got home from the mall at 10:30 today, it was there!

Had a cappuccino and champagne as part of my breakfast, lol. Now back for a short shift.

Speaking of Jimmy Buffet...

I had the fun visit to a funeral home this week for not one, but two families.

One was for a woman I have never met, but her first husband is in my men's group and church and her brother was in my Sunday School class.

The other was for a contractor here at work who had a fatal heart attack over the weekend. I did some work with him but did not realize he was a Parrothead.

I doubt the funeral home has ever had that many people walking around in tropical shirts before. Jimmy Buffet music was playing in the parlor.

It was interesting. :)

Now I am open for suggestions for a nice party for a six year old girl. Her past few parties have been setting up a table in a classroom at church and just having a themed cake/plates and letting the kids play on the playground.

However, most places that host kids' parties are more expensive than we would like and Abigail specifically wants things themed with Minnie Mouse.

Therefore, I will begin googling sites for party ideas, etc. I've done this before so I know there are a ton of them, but I thought I would ask y'all personally what you have enjoyed doing in the past.

Or what to avoid. ;)

Hi y'all! I actually took a nap this afternoon  I didn't mean to, but after I took down the tree and moved the piano I layed on my bed and zonked out :p

I keep forgetting how big & heavy that tree is until I try to move it!

Tara, that's a great motto! I had a friend like that and he really got me to laugh... even when really probably it wasn't the "proper" thing to do. Be lighthearted and fun about it or it will wear you down is how he thought!

Lainey makes a mental note not to check out the website Suzanne listed... otherwise I would be in a world of trouble... Luis has already nixed a few iPod things I want :teeth:

Alan, how about horesback riding? :)

I think I am done for the day working. I did a heck of a lot this morning and my cats keep trying to use me as a pillow. I think I'll take the hint ;)

We considered it, but for her age you can only hire the horses and walk all the kids in a circle.

Besides, she has a really nice Minnie Mouse dress for the occassion. Yes, she can change for the playing activities; I don't want my girl to have to be a china doll.

However, if you want to ride a horse in a "minnie skirt", go right ahead. ;)

Well, it is official, Junior is diabetic. :( They are going to try controlling it with diet, and he'll go back in 6 weeks. If that isn't working, they will try meds. He will have to test his blood every morning. Its going to be hard adjusting food-wise, but we'll get the hang of it soon, I hope.

Thanks for all the good thoughts.

Boy, I know how hard it is to change a lifestyle, mainly with a permanent adjustment in eating habits. Believe me, 14 months later, and I STILL have to read EVERY label for, not only food items, but vitamins and other products as well. But at least mh DH and I found out what was wrong with him. Since he has cut out ALL grains containing gluten, he has gained back his weight (a little TOO much ;) !) and feels so much better! And think, when you vaca at WDW, they are SO VERY ACCOMODATING when it comes to special diet needs. And remember, we are ALL HERE for you, to chat :hyper2: , or whatever.....

I just had a shocking buy pleasant surprise at the front door. I heard our gate opening, so I peeked out the window, and saw four people walking up my front steps. It was dark so I couldn't really see who it was. They rang the bell. I told my brother we had four people at the front door, and I went down to let them in.

It was three of my cousins and their step sister. Now, that may not seem like a big deal, but these are my long lost cousins. Due to a divorce between my uncle and their mother over 35 years ago, I didn't know them for much of my life (to make a long story short, my uncle gave up custody of the kids to their mom's second wife).

I always knew I had three more cousins in my family, but no one had any contact with them. I finally got to meet one of them about three years ago when my uncle's daughter from his second marriage got married out in Vegas. I met the second one a few months later.

But my third cousin, my cousin Bob, wanted nothing to do with the family, and had no interest in meeting us. I met him very briefly two years ago at his mother's memorial service (it was basically just a handshake and an "I'm sorry for your loss"--I don't even know if he knew who he was).

So, seeing him standing at my front door with his sisters was quite a shock! We have the same birthday (which is coming up later this month), so we joked about that. We shook hands when he arrived, and hugged when he left.

So it was a big step for him to make, but I hope it is a small step in an effort to bring him back into our family.

Thanks for listening. I'm just so excited about this that I'm shaking :)

Why do I picture Alan doing something like this right about now?

Sherry, sorry for the diagnosis! I do hope that the diet will help him. I know from what my sister said it was quite a blow to her DH at first, but he eventually adjusted to it all. He now has it under cotnrol and you'd have no clue otherwise.

Kimmar, I am glad to hear that your DH Is doing so well! I remember you talking about it when it first started. All diets are hard... but after a while they become a little more easy cuz they are the routine

Karen, that is soooo exciting and so neat that it happened. Really, that is just awesome! I hope that is the beginning of a good relationship for y'all :)

Well not sure what I am going to do tonight... just feeling wiped out still. Did too much and back's paying for it now

So I may lay down or knit or something for a while. Enjoy the evening all!

You and Junior were in my prayers. I was hoping for better news (as were you, I'm sure). I hope that diet is enough to get his condition under control. We'll keep you in our prayers.

Oh just to add to my story. I have gotten to know the two sisters and their step sister these past few years, but this is the first time I really talked to my cousin Bob.

Good morning all! Supposed to be sunny and warm today! Hopefully that will be true and I can take advantage of it ::yes::

Karen, I still think that is so cool he stopped by. I love it when family actually tries to make an effort like that!

Hmm... Luis just hopped in the shower... which means he isn't running this morning. I hope he's feeling okay...
