Well little man and I are home today. I wasnt feeling well this morning but I thought it was a hold over from the medicated patch. Little man said he had a stomach ache before we left for school but he often says that when he is hungry. He likes to eat at school. Well when I got him there he said he had to go to the bathroom and promptly tossed his cookies in the bathroom. I called in work sick and took him home. So we are both relaxing. Not sure if it is a tummy bug or something we all ate last night. Dh said he was feeling green too but went into work to at least get his guys out the door. I havent heard from my eldest yet but he didnt complain he didnt feel well this morning. The only difference is dh, youngest and I spent the morning with a different set of kids yesterday than eldest ds did as he is in youth. Possibly one of the kids at Kids Church was sick yesterday.

Gonna go lay down for a bit.

Okay, think I'm all caught up!

I took E to the doc on thursday for his 18month check up (was really 19 months since he was sick when we were suposed to go ) anyway, I talked to the doc about Jarrod's visit with the specialist and she agreed his meds need to be increased and that he definately has Oppositional Difiant Disorder (aka ODD...no wonder with a mom like me he would be a little odd!!). Anyway, he was more than obliging this weekend to show that defiant side and I'm trying to be patient with him but I'm just about out of patience! I am going to call the psychologist today to find out about getting us in and finding out how to deal with him without killing him!

What was really funny is that at the meeting on tuesday with his teacher and speech person after I told them all about how he is they both talked about how good he is and how he doesn't stand out as a behavior blah blah blah....yeah, until Friday when i get home to find a note in his folder that said he was "disruptive" during the day and the teacher wrote "difficult day". So I guess they finally saw some of what I've been saying. I hate that people around us that dont' see him like I do think that I've lost my mind and that he is normal child! I always feel a little better when others see it but then I feel bad that I couldn't control him! make sense not to me either.

Anyway, back to work I go. I have a video I have to watch today on reading tests aloud and that will take up my entire planning time today so I probably wont' get back in here today. Then I have bowling tonight. I'm going to focus my energy on the head pin and see if I can make one explode!! hehehe

Ouch, Karen!! Hope you were able to find some shoes that don't hurt and that toe heals in time for your trip! I can sooooo empathize.

Anybody else still got their Christmas tree up? Since we waited so long to put it up, I'm kinda reluctant to take it down. It just looks so nice.

Hope the meds can kick that sinus thing for you, Laine. You must be so frustrated with the way it keeps coming back.

Good to hear from you again, Sherry! What fun to be able to pull off the surprise party like that!! Glad it was well received and ya'll had a great time.

Tara, I totally understand your feelings about Jar's behavior when out of your sight. When we finally put our son into residential treatment, I don't know how many times the docs asked us why we thought he belonged there. Took three weeks and then we got the call with an apology, no less!! "We're finally seeing your son as you see him. He's in the office right now, pinging off the walls." Yeah, it's painful, but once they see it, you can all work together on how to deal with it and help him learn to control himself. I know it isn't easy.

Doing laundry and running errands today. Hope the Motrin kicks in soon so I can get going. I promised myself I could watch my Stargate shows that Dave recorded for me on Friday while I was working. But I MUST get some things done first! Hope ya'll have a lovely day!!

Ugh, I'm tired... I don't know how I used to survive on so little sleep. For whatever reason, I woke up at 5 and couldn't go back to sleep.

How cute about the ODD there Tara I can understand what you mean about others not seeing what you do though. Glad to know that you aren't crazy though Yeah I am teasing a wee bit, but I really do understand.

Looks like I may really get my way and the teachers will really see his behavior. The following is the email I got from his teacher a little bit ago.

Happy Monday! I just wanted to touch base with you regarding a bus incident.... Jarrod and another student had an "altercation" on the way to school. Apparently Jarrod pushed another student and the student retaliated by scratching Jarrod's neck (both boys agreed with this account of the story). I did take Jarrod to the nurse to make sure she cleaned the scratches well - but he looks like he was in a "cat fight"! Both boys have agreed not to sit together on the bus again... Just wanted you to know!!

I emailed her back and asked about the rest of his behavior for the day and got this...

It is not one of boys he had difficulty with originally. This child is not in our class and according to his teacher, is never involved in anything.... Today has been so-so. I made him do his work over because he scribbled all over the first one - the second one was much better. His behavior has seen better days. While we were reading a story on the carpet, I saw him reach over and hit someone next to him (moved his bee!). This is unusual for him at school. However, it is Monday - and it usually a rough day for many of the kids..

I have the psychological appt set up for wednesday at 1pm. So hopefully this guy will be able to help me. He told me that he doesn't cure kids so not to expect that much!! lol! I guess then I will just expect him to help keep me from choking the poor kid!!

I get the fun job right now of stripping the bed to put clean sheets on. The reason why it is fun? I have two cats!

I swear they make it their job to do everything in their power to make it impossible for me to do this. No one ever said cats were easy, but they sure are fun!

Well youngest ds and I WERE having a nice quiet day trying to get over this stomach bug until my eldest came home from school and of course has turned the entire household upside down with his hissy fits. He didnt put his review sheet for his math midterm in his binder like I told him to this morning so he couldnt check it in class and then threw a holy fit when I told him to call one of his other classmates and check his answers with him. I am SO sick of the fights over school.

Elaine sounds like my kitty and my dog when I try and make the bed LOL!! They are so helpful....NOT ROFL!!! The dog will just look at me like...You want ME to move?? hehehehehehe.

Tara I can comsierate with you on others not seeing what we see in our kids every day. I cant tell you how many times I have been told that someone cannot believe they are ADHD or asked if I am totally sure they are ADHD because they dont see what we see. They dont see it because they see the medicated version of my kids...on their ADHD meds. Then they are shocked when they do happen to see the kids when the meds have worn off. I cant tell you how many times I have been appolgized to when they do happen to see the kids off meds. If you need a friend to talk to...one who understands what you are going through never hesitate to IM me or PM me. I can totally relate and Im going through it as we speak too.

Quick hi here... had my knitting group tonight. Though doesn't look like I missed much. Have the boards still been misbehaving? (they have for me lately)

I was a meanie and moved the kitties. Gwenie I tricked into moving by playing with her and hten getting her all worked up so she left on her own. Cleo I just moved to my chair she likes to sit on. They actually behaved and stayed OFF the bed until I was done!

Evening all. I came home from dropping the kids at school, fired up the laptop and got a server busy message when trying to read replies. Thought to myself "Gosh, I'm tired", and went and laid back down-and woke up when I was supposed to be at work-1:30!!!

Now I'm not the least bit tired, but I can't stay up until 3am. Shooting for midnight.

Karen, you may have felt nauseous from too high a dose.

Tara, boy can I relate! I have often thought Neil is ODD, but this new doc is the first one who thinks it's possible. Glad you're getting some feedback that concurs with what you see. Our kids seem to hold it in better for everyone BUT us!

Lainey, heck, I'd make the bed with them IN it!

Bethie, did you get that tree down? That was part of the stuff I was *supposed* to do today-sleep won.

Apparently, I should be a blonde! I don't look like me, according to Liz I dunno, I really identify with red!

My toe is feeling a lot better, although I made the mistake of wearing too tight shoes on it yesterday, so I took them off when I was sitting at my desk. Today, I'm going to wear my ugly crocs to work. Lots of extra room in those.

i guess we could start an off shoot of this thread and call it mother's with ODD kids!! (reading it as "odd" versus O.D.D.!) I feel better this morning. The poor kid couldn't sleep last night, I guess from the day's events, so he crawled into bed with me. I didn't want to turn him down since he was already feeling bad about things. I'm a sucker and I know it!!

JRKaren...glad the toe is feeling better. Have a drink at WDW on the 29th for me!!

Karen...hope your son is feeling better and that you don't have to kill the other one!

Suzanne...I totally understand the whole sleep thing...I did it this weekend, my mom kept the kids while I laid down. Man that was nice.

Okay, gotta scoot to work...since I had jarrod in bed with me this morning it got me up on time and I couldn't dry my hair since he was there so I ended up being ready for work really early. So now I'm going to go to work andI'll check in later if I have time!

Morning all! I think I'm doing much better today. I was kind of drugged up yesterday, so I didn't get much done on the computer. I'm going to try w/o the drugs today since I am behind on some computer stuff I needed to do yesterday. My eyes just didn't focus well

Suzanne, glad to hear you got the sleep you needed I admit I am nto a bed maker. Luis is. So it's been hard for me to remember to do it after he leaves. I never did it when I worked since I was out the door before he even got up. Though I always do it when I change the sheets

Karen, glad the toe is feeling better! Hopefully you won't have anything to worry about with it in a couple of weeks! And yep, sinus stuff sucks... I should remember to take better care with mine
