I did it!! I did it! I finally finished my research paper for my Masters and sent it electronically to my professor..... :cool1:  :cheer2: :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :wave2: :rotfl: !!!!

Morning everyone! Off to enjoy the beautiful weather today!!! It's awfully quiet here though the last few days :(

Tara, I hope you have fun with Chris and Ella... I'll think good thoughts for Beth's dad and their family!

Lily, good luck with everything this weekend!

Congrats Kimmar!

back from the zoo. Today wasn't one of Jar's good days. Apprently he can't hear any more  and so was unable to follow commands at the zoo. We finally left because he refused to listen. We were there from 10 until 230 so it wasn't too bad.

As for Beth's grandpa...he is on a respirator and the family is meeting tonight to make decisions so it doesn't look too good. This was the first year for Beth's mom to deal with losing her mom and now it looks like dad is going to go too. :(

anyway, i have a yard to mow. I'll be back later!!

I admit it is time I am going to be blunt honest with y'all. I have zero intention of moving us if no one is bothering to show up. I have heard from many of you (so I swear I am not singling anyone out) that they are tired of coming here to post and being blown off on a regular basis. I do know there are some who make this place "All about them" and don't even bother to say one word to make someone laugh.

I have no idea what has happened here, but people in general feel disconnected.

Just wanted to say that because I am in a mood of sorts

I did go out and about today with Luis. We got me a new bathing suit (only had to try on four to get what I liked enough) and just wandered arond the mall. Stopped in at a Dell place and they will be having a discount on laptops. While I want the IBM, we could get me one of those awesome little 12" jobs that would be super easy to take with me everywhere.

Also looked at new cell phones. Both Luis and I are having issues with our phones not staying charged right. So I am looking. I'll upgrade my phone too so I can do internet via it while at WDW :teeth:

Yeah, I'm a loser :p

But I'm between the Samsung A920, Samsung A900 and the Sanyo MM-7500. fun stuff to try to figure out

I didn't look up the specific models of phones that you listed, but I would suggest that you look for a phone that doesn't support analog so that your battery lasts longer and so that your phone doesn't "find" a stronger analog signal and switch to battery drain mode.

Regarding your comment about folks being driven away, I hope that my occasional appearances on this thread are not construed as "not caring" or "not feeling welcome". To the contrary, although I may not post about the daily comings and goings of the Ya Ya's, you are all dear to me and I hold you all in my prayers. There just don't seem to be enough hours in the day to keep up with DIS and real life.

This has always been a fun thread. I enjoy participating and throwing in my 2 cents every now and again.

End of sermon. Sorry. It's a bad habit I picked up from my dad, the preacher.

And now for the EOIP portion of my post:

I spent this afternoon with DS James and DD Sarah at the 3rd annual Duct Tape Festival in Avon (Ohio). We had front row seats for the Duct Tape Guys performance. I won a $25 grocery store gift certificate because I knew that the song "Tainted Love" was done by the group "Soft Cell". My kids and I had a wonderful time. Sue was doing wedding flowers, so she could not join us.

Today is bittersweet because tomorrow morning, we take James to college. It's only an hour away, but another chapter in our lives is closing. He will move into the dorm tomorrow and start classes on Monday. If all goes according to plan, he will enter medical school in September 2008 and graduate in 2012. I'm not sure how tomorrow will go. I imagine that emotions will be running quite high at our house. What a way to spend Father's Day.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend. Love you all.

Evening, all. Sorry I've been scarce!

Backwards ketchup, since it's easier to scroll through the previous posts:

John- Hugs to you and Sue. It must be hard to see your son 'leave the nest'. Happy Father's Day!

Kimmar, Congrats on transmitting that research paper and :worship: getting that Masters!

Lainey, good luck on finding that phone. Yay on finding a swimsuit!

Tara, sorry the zoo trip was abbreviated

Lily, hope the relay for life is going well!

Uh oh, I ran out of ketchup...gotta go further back!

Suzanne

Alan, very cool about being in the paper. :thumbsup2

Kimmar, YAY! :bounce:

John, I forgot about the Duct Tape Festival. Glad you had a good time. :) Hope all goes well with moving James.

Elaine, have fun picking out a cell. And yay for the bathing suit find.

I haven't had much time to post this weekend. We've been busy hanging out in the pool and enjoying the nice weather. I did get good news today. Remember my crazy neighbor stories? The ones who are fanatical about their lawn and put up the bushes and fence between our yards? They put up a FOR SALE sign today!! :dance3: :dance3: :cheer2:  :cool1: :yay: :woohoo:

Sherry,

Awesome! Hope that house sells really soon!!!!

Not a bad thing to pick up from you dad! But nah John, not you! I sort of made that post because it's gone from a problem of just a couple to more than that. Normally I don't like to make issues of the thread public like that, but as the one who started it, I seem to hear the most about the thread in private

I was kind of cranky last night too... I love it when you come in and make posts, mostly because they aren't what I consider "all about me". granted what others might think as being ignored is different than mine.

So... the point of my post, just keep that in mind everyone. I love y'all (and as John said, I hold you near and dear to me and in my prayers always) and just wonder why this place is slowing down some. Of course it isn't just me feeling this and enough have PM'd me to let me know. Just stuff to think on :)

Anywhoo.... moving on to real stuff

John, thanks for that suggestion. I actually prefer ones with analog in case I get totally stranded, BUT I set them so that they are always running in the digital mode unless I change it otherwise. So I thank you so much for mentioning that!!!! I totally forgot to check the modes on these phones. Both Samsung and Sanyo have had them in the past, so I want to make sure that didn't change! One more note to add to my list of things to find out!
Good luck today with taking James to college... I can only imagine how hard that is! I know it may make for a harder Father's Day for you, but from this view... it's a great gift... to know you helped James along so well that he is attending college and medical school! You've done a great job as a dad John :)

Bathing suit shopping brave? I admit does take some amount of braveness, but it's far easier to do it now than oh... 3 years ago
wink.gif
I went for a very similar style to what I had before. It's weird to size out things and I made one size work for the top where I wouldn't have otherwise. I'm still on a string bikini bottom... Luis said it looked best

:faint:

LOL, Suzanne, I do backwards ketchups too... sometimes far easier. My favorites are when I start with one post, go backwards and then forwards again. That's the wost... I always skip someone/thing doing that though

I really am so happy for y'all! I know that it will be a relief to have them gone!!!

I need to get moving and get ready for church... no real desire to go today. Then we'll stop at the grocery store for cheese and a card :rolleyes1 then vacuum and wash the floors in the kitchen & bathroom before people come over for a cookout.
Having hamburgers, "roasted" corn on the cob, baked beans, a pasta or potato salad, chips & salsa, tropical drinks (btw Bethie, using that very very cute set you sent ages ago in an exchange... only shaker I have!) and dessert. Come over if you wish, I am sure we'll have plenty!!

So a very Happy Father's Day to all the dad's here. I know you all are wonderful fathers, and your kids are so lucky to have you :)

Happy Fathers Day to all our Ya Ya Bothas!
:grouphug:

(more later today...we're still on massive weekend mode)

after much thinking I've decided that I need to leave the yaya resort for a while and find some place less demanding. I know that I don't have good ketchups any more and for that I'm sorry.

Real life is way too stressful and to come here and find stress...well, let's just say I can't do that right now.

Maybe when things get better here (RL) and I feel like I can be more a part of the group then I will return. I'm not leaving the dis so this isnt' a giant YAGE just an "I'm going home for the summer and maybe I'll come back next year".

I'll still be on the boards as I have other places that I venture into so i'm not leaving for good.

I wish everyone the best and I look forward to seeing you around.

tara

I am very sorry I said anything now. Especially since I apparently made people upset.

I had enough people say things to me I felt like maybe it was a common feeling

It was *not* meant to drive people away. It wasn't meant to be "scolding" or "yelling". Just as food for thought for everyone to think about.

This place is becoming like a cemetary for me though. I had people tell me their thoughts and why they no longer stop by. So I shared them.

I give up, the place is everyone else's now. I'm tired of feeling responsible and tired of not stepping on toes

If y'all want it, you can keep it, I just can't do this anymore.

I suggest if someone wants to move, they just do it. I really can't deal with being the "owner" any longer. People seem to expect me to answer or to fix things. I just can't.

This is probably the kick I needed to leave the DIS, or at least severely cut back. I just can't really deal with this and I am sorry for any pain I caused.

...WE NEED MORE CABANA BOYS??? :confused3 ...Or, perhaps, another Nekkid Ritual Dance.... popcorn:: (I got 'front row', of course....)

Happy Father's Day to all male Ya Ya daddys

Tara, thanks for sharing your Jarrod moment with the razor.......just wait until he really uses it.

Sherry, I do hope that your neighbor's house sells quickly

John, my heart goes out to you. My DS is spending his summer in Athens this summer and my DD will be leaving for college in 2 months. So I know how you are feeling

Elaine, I do love you.

The day was great here. DH spent the weekend at Kentucky Speedway with his dad. He came home took a shower and a nap and then spent the rest of the evening with us. Happy times.

I hope that I didn't stir things up. I think that we all need a break from the DIS every now and again. It happens in real life too. I was sick and tired of the direction that our church choir was going with the new director. I gave her a couple of years, but she and I just didn't see eye to eye. So I gave up choir for a while. I did eventually go back to singing with just the Men's Chorale (despite the best efforts of the members of the choir to get me to commit to the chancel choir as well). I find that spending less time in choir (and on the DIS) has led to a happier and healthier mental attitude.

I used to try to fix all the woes on the DIS. It didn't work. I found it much better to pray for those who are in need and to only help out when and where I know that I can make a difference.

Sometimes the DIS moves just too fast for me. Or maybe I'm just getting older.

As for the college move. In a nutshell:
We left for Youngstown State nearly 2 hours after I wanted to.
James' roommate was later than us.
James had trouble getting his room key to work.
His computer experienced three "Blue Screens of Death" while attempting to connect to the university internet. I think that his hard drive is dying.
The Quaker Steak & Lube that I had my eyes on is "coming soon", so we ate at Cracker Barrel (which was yummy).
We discovered that James left his class schedule at home on the couch (and classes start tomorrow at 8AM).
James' roommate (Phil) let his girlfriend pack up his computer. She forgot the power cord.
James is the computer expert in Kilcawley House (which is a real shocker to Sarah and me).
We left without shedding a tear. James gave Sarah the biggest hug. She refused to let go of her big brother.

All in all, it was an excellent Father's Day. It still hasn't sunk in that James is really "gone". Not permanently, but he has started on the road to a life apart from us. I guess that it's a good thing that we'll be at WDW in 10 days.

 Here we go again. Not tryin' to be nasty or pick on anyone, but face it, most of us have lives outside of the DIS and we just can't be at our computers 18 out of 24 hours a day. Get over it. Just because we don't post doesn't mean we don't care nor does it mean we're in a snit because we think somebody is making it all about them. We're just too dang busy to stop and talk. I know I end up late every morning I'm due at work at 9 when I take time to post. And that's cuz I don't get up a half hour earlier so I WILL have time to write. I could, but I'm at an age where I really don't want to give up 1/2 hour of shut eye--for anybody! And, yes, I resent it when I have to get up extra early to be at church early on Sundays when we ring bells. So it's not just the DIS.

End of MY sermon.

John, my heart just swelled reading about your day yesterday. How proud you must be of that boy of yours and what a wrench it was to leave him there. So good to know that there ARE some brothers and sisters in the world who actually DO care about each other! I don't think my 2 have EVER hugged each other!!!

BETTY!!!!! How good to see you again, roomie!! I've been missing you and was so dismayed to read about your health troubles this past year.  prayers and PD going out to you that you're over this bump in the road and life will be smooth from here on out. The pic of your DD and her date for prom was gorgeous, but then, she is gorgeous all the time, IMO. Love seeing the pix!

Kimmar--big congrats on getting that thesis off!!! WTG, girlfriend!!! Maybe more cabana boys dancing for us is the answer!!??

Tara, I will sorely miss you as I rarely venture anyplace else on the DIS and so I probably won't run into you anyplace else. I know the stress song and can only offer lots of   prayers and PD. You have my number and you can always call if you need to vent your frustrations. Been there!! Loved the razor story, too. 3AM, huh??!!

Happy Monday, Lily! Hope your day is a good one and work treats you right. We're expecting the rain to come in today, tho' we had a gorgeous, albeit HOT, weekend.

WHOO-HOOOO, Sherry!!!! I know you're :bounce: :Pinkbounc with joy over THAT sign!! Hope the place sells quickly and they move out just as fast!! so what did the boys do for Junior for Father's Day?

And another WHOO-HOOO to Suzanne for your store opening!! Glad to hear it went well and looking forward to hearing more stories about the goings on there. We tried the Blackstrap Pork Chops last night and they were SUPERB!! Not so keen on the Twice Baked Mashed Potatoes (too much bacon and pepper) or the Honeyed Carrots (too much parsley, not enough honey). Dinner is an adventure now, with all this new and good stuff to eat!!!

Lainey, you needed a new swimsuit? What happened to that gorgeous aqua bikini with the pretty sarong skirt? I absolutely LOVED that on you!! I can't scroll back that far......what color this time? Do we get to see a pic? LOL, you were talking about laptops and that's what I managed to get for Dave for Father's Day. QVC had a really great deal on a Dell and Dave is in hog-heaven playing with his new toy!! Now he'll be happier, being able to take it to WDW and download all the pix we take everyday.

Hey, Nancy!! You manage to get out from under all that traveling laundry, yet? Wanna hear about your Vegas trip!! Where did you stay this time? You went to see another Cirque show, I bet, right? What else??!!

Rose Mary!!! Stop in again!! Hope your weekend was a great one and the work week will be smoth!

Jellybean, you're a busy bee, too, I know. Sending you a  and more encouragement to look at airfare again for that last weekend in Oct. sure would like to see you again!

Kimmie, Liz, Kristy, Tina, Deena, Alan, Amanda, Caroline and any others I can't remember at the moment......Love and miss you all!! Drop in for a visit again, soon!!
