A Ya Ya raft trip?.....hmmmmmm

We were just talking about a rafting trip this past weekend... :rolleyes1
Sounds like it would be interesting...
Went rafting in WV about 20 years ago..down the lower Gauley(Sp?)

Sorry about the cheesy ketchup.. :rolleyes1 ...
Hope to be back a little more in the future...
Trip was great...
Later everyone.. :dance3:

Just read the last two pages and I know from experience (as Elaine as mentioned) that we can't always keep up with a thread as often as we all would like. I was in on the original Ya Ya thread and the most amazing thing about this thread is its longevity and the wonderful people that it attracts. I wish I could say that the feelings that Elaine and John and some others expressed were unusual but we (I) have seen this before and we can make this thread go on and it will. I am one of the ones that took a vacation many years ago and moved to another place but the Ya Ya thread has always held a very special place in my heart. I just didn't have the time to keep up with as many things that I wanted to. I try to visit here in the summer because I have more time to keep up with you all because of subbing at the high school and I love coming back and seeing the old faces (Sherry, Elaine, Beth, Nancy, Pam, John, and Todd) and I really love meeting the new ones.

I have experienced some great times with you all. Some of you I met at a DIS meet in Columbus before we even knew or shall I saw before we discovered we were Ya Yas. Beth was my roommie in a cabin in Ohio and Elaine and I shared memories of Christmas time at WDW. These are times that I will always cherish. There is no real point to this reply except to say that Ya Yas may take a vacation and sometimes they need that little vacation but the true Ya Yas at heart will always come back and I just know that if any of you out there are struggling with keeping up with this thread that you will come back when you can and you will be welcomed back with open arms. I am proof of that.

Now you new Ya Yas may think that I am rambling but this thread has gone on for over 4 years (maybe more). This is the growing pains that us Elder Ya Yas have known about for years. Please take all the opinions that are expressed here to heart and try to not make judgment on anyone. You are all AWESOME!!!

OK, end of the "Endless Pointless Elder Ya Ya Ranting" LOL :grouphug:

Oh yes, I am elder and I am senile and I forget things.......LOL

Beth I am doing fine. Do you actually think that a blood clot in my leg and some blood clots in my lungs is going to keep me down? I am Ya Ya....well that and the good Lord was smiling down on me. I am planning a trip to WDW for 3 days in August. DH is going there for business and I am going there for Mouse Business.........so I must getting better soon.

I will be venturing out into the World all by myself but believe me I will be remembering the last time I was there with you and Dave and Elaine by my side.

So have you been visiting the Queen City lately? You do have my number.....

John, I am glad that things went fairly well with James. There is always something when it comes to college. They just opened a Quaker Steak and Lube just 15 minutes from me......maybe you could come down and get some Graeters ice cream, Skyline Chili and Quaker Steak and Lube?

That's where we are going in Sept. (well hopefully, don't have a date yet!!) How did you like it? Was it really rough? maybe we can get more yaya's too!! woohoo!!

Betty...woohoo for WDW! I've still got my fingers crossed for my trip! Oh and I like that you called all of those you named OLD...makes me feel a bit younger! :lmao:

alan...your girls are gorgeous!! I hope you have that shot gun ready!! Gotta warn off all those suitors coming your way!!

Elaine...I have frozen hot dogs...I can slap one in a pan for you! that's the extent of my cooking skill! Mom made buffalo wings for dinner tonight!! yummy! Its amazing because buffalo wings taste so much like chicken! :confused3 Amazing how much stuff tastes like chicken! :rotfl:

The only thing productive, other than cooking, that I did today was to play Sorry and UNO with jarrod (I won most of the games :woohoo: ) and then I laid down on the couch and fel smack asleep. Slept for an hour. I guess I was tired.

Things are way too quiet around here...must go find the little darlings!...hmmm on second thought maybe I'll just leave 'em!!

tara

I've just spent the last several minutes reading and then re reading the last few pages. I've paced and wandered for 24 hours now trying to get my thoughts to gel into something that makes sense. I am so bad when it comes to putting my thoughts and emotions into words, but I'm going to give it a shot anyway.

Ack. I have so many thoughts rolling around in my head, I'm not sure where to start... bear with me.

Well... like Betty, obviously I'm another one of the old YaYas that although I've been a part of the "new" YaYa thread (off and on) for awhile now, I did take a bit of a CB/YaYa break. There was a division of sorts that was really tough for many of us. :( When it happened, I don't think anyone involved meant for it to happen quite the way it did, but anyhoo, none of that is pertinent to this. The point I wanted to make is...despite it all, this place has continued to thrive and it's because of the dedication of all of you that have posted here all these years. It's because of people like Elaine, Nancy, Beth, *others too, but I'm having a brain fade moment, forgive me* that were the "oldies" that dug their heels in and refused to let this place die and because of all of you that came in, posted, shared, laughed, cried and made this place your home. That all may sound very sappy, but you know what... friendships are important. They're special and that's what you have here. That takes work. It takes a kind of unconditional love especially in a situation like this where the only form of communication you have is text. To keep a relationship alive depsite the limitations you're presented with due to this medium is not easy, yet you've all done it.

It's funny... even after being back here after my break from the Dis ages ago... In some ways I found it difficult to find my niche in YaYa land and to this day, some days I still struggle to determine whether I "fit" all that well. Why? I haven't a clue! Because I'm a twit I guess. LOL! :p But... that aside, I've lurked here enough to know ya'll are a sweet, fun loving, caring group of people and each and every one of you contribute so much to this place.

All of you that love this place and find that it holds a special place in your heart... keep coming here. *This coming from someone that hasn't posted in ages... nervy of me huh?* Whether it be every day or once a week or on summer break... come by... because it's each and every one of you, your hearts and the contributions you bring here, that have given this thread its life, its legs, its heart, its longevity.

I saw a post of Suzanne's out there on the CB regarding what the CB/Dis has done to change or affect your life. If I were to list everything that this place has done for me... oh my! The list would almost literally be endless. The most important thing though... I have made truly life long friendships. YaYas... almost each and every one of you have affected my life in such profound ways. You know who you are. There are no words to describe what the people here over the years have meant to me. Some of you I haven't had the chance to really get to know yet. I would dearly love to though!

Elaine: I've said this before and it won't be the last time either. You were the first person on the Dis to reach out to me. That is something I will never forget. Not to mention the fact that you continue to be a very very special friend. Much love. I saved a trip?? I'm glad. {{{HUGS}}}

Betty: Snork. What can I say? Chicken Coop Road. Spaghetti, long talks filled with encouragement and assurance that all was well. Thank you.

Beth: You are a long time friend I feel I haven't had the chance to visit with much lately. Makes me a little sad. :( I love you much!

Nancy: No words can express what I'd really like to say here. You are one of the vital, very integral parts of this thread. Your dedication to this thread is something I admire greatly.

Alan, your posts bring much sunshine and smiles to YaYa land! You're so much fun to have around. Thank you being part of YaYa land.

John, we haven't had the opportunity to talk a lot, but your contributions here and on the CB have always warmed my heart. Thank you.

Kimmar, always love your pictorial contributions! They decorate the place soooo nicely!

Tara, your way with words is priceless. Never stop sharing!

Pam, I miss your presence terribly when you're not here. Talk about a way with words! You are a treasure!

Suzanne, sadly you are another YaYa I feel I haven't had the opportunity to talk with much yet. I hope someday to meet up with you at WDW! I'd love to say hi in person!

Lily, you make me smile! Your posts are so full of sunshine.

Sherry, even though it was ages ago I still think of the day we spent oodles of minutes chatting on the phone like old friends even though we'd never spoken before. I'll never forget Elaine asking if we were "DONE YET"! LOL ....and I still thank you every time I look at my Aragorn charm. :p

Paula, I love your sweet ways and tender heart. Your dedication to your children is beautiful. I look forward to more IM chats with you!

Karen, you seem so very full of life and your posts are so much fun!

...and I cannot end without also mentioning Jennifer, Jodie, Marilyn, Jay, Bonnie, Betty, Debbie.... some of the early YaYa ancestors... :p no words. Just hugs. Ya'll know I love each and every one of you in a way that words cannot express.

As for a few of the others Elaine mentioned... Beccy, Apolo, (had to put their names together... knew Beccy would like to have him close) Jeannie, Todd, Amanda, Kristy, Auriel, Tony, Liz, Tina, Dave, Caroline, Deena... ya'll are missed very very much.

Sigh. Okay, I guess I'm done. Not sure if I said anything helpful, but just wanted to let ya'll know you are special to someone. Me. ...and that I hope with all my heart that YaYa land continues to be a home for all for many more years.

PS Alan those pictures are priceless! Love the shirt! It's very you!! :p ...and your girls are gorgeous!!!

Grrrr......do NOT like that "Server Busy" message!!

I know Todd doesn't like long posts, so  Love ya, bro!!

I look forward to coming here every day. I don't want to worry that I didn't ketchup for everyone. If I don't, it's not because I don't care about what's going on with others-it's probably ADD striking again.
:thumbsup2 AMEN!!! Maybe not every day, but as often as I can.

You are a very loveable twit and I miss you when you are in lurking mode or taking a break. But I understand and wait patiently for the day when you will drop in again! You add a lot to this thread yourself, girlfriend! I love you, too, and hope that we can catch up with each other in person one of these days. Hmmmm......reminds me of a song....."I'll start walkin' your way, you start walkin' mine. We'll meet in the middle......"

Do they make Pooh-sized wet suits? I'd LOVE to try rafting and now that my knee is fixed, I can get back into the workout room and get some of this fat turned into muscle!! but hey, I can always guard the campsite and take lots of pictures!

Heading into a VERY busy two weeks here. Because one of my managers is out of the country for 3 weeks, I am scheduled for 46 hours this week. Next week, another manager will be gone 5 days to a conference at our corporate office and the only other manager takes her son to college orientation and will be gone 2 days. I'm scheduled for 57 hours that week because we have to have a manager on duty every hour the store is open, plus the time to open and close. It seems ever since I became the acting store manager, I haven't been able to keep to my scheduled hours, either--I usually run over at least 1 or 2 hours a day. And ya'll were wondering why I didn't really want this job??!! Sigh........why corporate scheduled this conference next week, the SAME week they scheduled the big semi-annual sale (so we have 60 zillion items to put mark down stickers on!!), I will never know! Oh, yeah, and on top of that, we have the Great American Scrapbook Convention in town this weekend, which brings in extra traffic for a good week since we exhibit there and pass out coupons for a free gift with purchase, too! Suffice it to say, I may be scarce. And by July 1st, I may be a gibbering idiot, since that is my next day off.

Carry on, Ya Yas, as I know you will!! :grouphug:

great job Kimmie!!!

Okay, can we dispense with the sappy crap now and move on??? :lmao: Some of you may not know this but I'm known as a cold hearted witch and all of this sap is killing me!! :rotfl:

I'm sure they do. I'll check and find out. We would love to have you with us!! You, me, elaine, luis, lily and we need to find 2 more yaya's and we have a whole boat!!!

Sorry, ma'am, but we don't carry Quick Kutz. We DO, however, carry the new Provo Craft Cricut! With the push of a few buttons, you can cut letters, words, whole sentences and all kinds of shapes in 10 different sizes! Letters in 6 different styles, too! All for the retail price of only $299.99. In the long run, it's MUCH cheaper than Quick Kutz which costs over $100 for a single set of alphabet dies in only one style-one size. A Cricut cartridge is only $90 and again--10 sizes and 6 styles on the alphabet PLUS all the shapes!

How'd I do?

Holy crud, after the day that I've had (just busier than expcted) I came in here to check to see what all has been said...

wow, y'all seriously made me cry

whether it was the hot dog you were planning on making me or the sweet thoughts... or even knowing that since Todd stopped by I need to :duck:
;)

A few of you said what in my stress filled day couldn't get out. I have a tendency to quickly shut down when things become too much in my life. So thanks to those lovely ladies who said what I had hoped to but failed miserably at.

Bottom line is that I love y'all a lot!

Bethie, after you get on the raft, we need to get on a jetski! You remember the boat ride we had? OMG, the jetski's are a riot to go on! And yep, they do make wetsuits in all sizes. I do believe the run about $70ish for the short version. At least that is what my buddy Marc told me!

I do wish I knew what y'all were talking about just above me... really I do! Sounds fun (so I presume it has to be scrapping)

Oh Tara, I believe you aren't a cold hearted person at all. How's that for sap ;)

Betty, you reminded me of that zoo meet! Gads, I was scared to death!!!

Do y'all realize that I am actually a really shy person in RL? Seriously, that was the first meet I organized and I only went to my very first meet like 2 months prior. Scared to DEATH!!!! I would NOT let Luis leave my side! I met a couple Ya Ya's that day.

Yeah I know Tara, too much sap...
would calling you a twit help out? :p

Okay I am posting all over the place now, so hi, mad love to everyone and I'll check in when I can. I get to try to fix our weed eater tomorrow

:wave2:

Now you tell me this after i already blew the hundred dollars to buy the dang thing! It was one of those...oooh oooh I gotta have it and now I find that no one carries the darn things. I knew they had them at my scrapping store but they don't take coupons because they are an LSS. Well, I guess I gotta keep an eye on ebay!!

thanks!! You are a great sales person!!

oh btw, Bethie, you sold me... and I don't even scrap!!!

now I'm off ;)

OK, y'all are gonna make me cry with these posts. :sad1:
I love each and everyone of y'all. :)

Elaine, I always enjoy hanging out with you (& Luis!). And I love your chocolate chip cookies. ;)

Betty, I enjoyed meeting you at the zoo.

Kimmie, had so much fun talking to you on the phone. :teeth: And I'm so glad I was able to find your Aragorn charm for you. :)

Todd, great to see ya!

Alan, great shirt. :teeth: And the girls are adorable. princess: princess:

John, I love CB. I've never tried the hashbrown casserole though. :duck: I love the chicken and dumplings. Mmmm!!

Beth, I'm with Elaine.....I don't scrap, but you sold me. :teeth:

I need to mop the floor. :rolleyes1 Since this ceramic tile takes FOREVER to dry, I've been doing it at night so I don't have to worry about anyone walking on it. :teeth:

Sherry have fun with the tile floor....I really wish I could be there to help you...NOT

Tara, come close to the computer screen.....can you feel the Elder Ya Ya Hug? It is filled with sap.......and now here is a big smooshie kiss. Sorry I just had to get that out of my system.

Oh the Columbus Zoo meet.......well, I was on the cell talking to my DD while I walked up to the entrance so that she would know my exact move that day. I was also scared...I mean I drove 2 hours to meet strangers....and I believe that the phone call to Kim that day was during our lunch stop. Oh the memories are rushing back......

Beth, I would buy one of those contraptions if I scrapped also.....but I am not creative. I mean when it comes to opening my big mouth and having creative words come out that is one thing but doing things with my hands is another.......now I am sure that we can all make some type of lewd comment about that.

Oh the Ya Ya is starting to come out in me........someone stop me.

Whitewater rafting is really cool. We went around 6 years ago in Montana and in Wyoming (2 different trips) The Rockies were beautiful and the water is so blue and clear out there in the west.

Well, this Elder is ready for bed and needs to get her beauty rest. Good Night All! :wave2:

Kumbaya, my Lord
Kumbaya

Kumbaya, my Lord
Kumbaya

Kumbaya, my Lord
Kumbaya

Oh Lord, Kumbaya

(now pass me a S'more, dammit!)

Sorry, Suzanne, all the tears drowned the campfire and now we hafta head up to Sherry and John's neck of the woods so they can teach us how to make s'mores in the microwave. ROAD TRIP!!! Who's in?!!

Nice to know I can sell Cricuts to people who don't scrap

Gotta hit the bank on the way to work this morning. Ya'll have a great day and drop in when you can! Mad, mad love and :grouphug:

Wow Beth, that is a very busy schedule  Good luck?

To quote a beloved Ya Ya: Dang!

I am so sorry I have missed the melting and reformation of our Ya Yas. I too am most greatful for everyone here in Ya Ya Land. You have given me the opportunity to make special friends and I truly appreciate every Ya Ya for what is brought here.

Sappy story: Our rebirthing reminds me of the the Harry Potter series. Albus Dumbledore has this fantastic bird, a phoenix, that rekindles and continues onward in its magnificance. We will continue onward too!
