So THAT's why I couldn't get on--kept getting the message "connection has been refused". Thought I'd been banned or something!!!

Good frosty morning to all of you! It's a whopping 34º here and our trees are finally starting to turn, too. How I love sweater weather!!!

Had a wonderful time at a craft show yesterday with my son. Get this, HE spent more than me!!! Being a tree surgeon, he had to stop and chat with every woodworker in the building and admire their work. I was positively amazed at his ability to identify the type of wood used in almost every item he picked up! Funny, how you tear your hair out trying to get them through school and then they floor you with knowledge acquired on their own! Whew!!

Gotta find that hair dryer--head is freezing and I think I need to pull out a heavier coat today. Catch ya'll later!! Happy Monday!!

Eeeyyewwww, Roadkill? Not for me thank you.

HEY NOW!!
The little critters quit jumping around after a couple of seconds in that hot skillet...;)

VERY cold here - I broke down and turned the heat on last week. DD actually took her winter coat back to the University with her last night and DS broke down and wore a sweatshirt today to school. It was only 39 degrees for a high here yesterday.

Nice pics, Elaine!

Good morning.

Pam is accessing the Yayas better for you now? Or are you using a different computer?

Amanda.,....good to see you stop by.

Colder here this morning too....but not that cold. My toes are a bit frozen though ;)

Have to share this,.....it's funny (but sadly too true  ).
Do you understand them? :teeth:

Are You From The Northwest? You might be from the Pacific Northwest if:

1. You know the state flower (mildew).

2. You feel guilty throwing aluminum cans or paper in the trash.

3. You use the statement "sun break" and know what it means.

4. You know more than 10 ways to order coffee.

5. You know more people who own boats than air conditioners.

6. You feel overdressed wearing a suit to a nice restaurant.

7. You stand on a deserted corner in the rain without an umbrella waiting for the "Walk" signal.

8. You consider that if it has no snow or has not recently erupted, it is not a real mountain.

9. You can taste the difference between Starbucks, Seattle's Best, and Veneto's.

10. You know the difference between Chinook, Coho, and Sockeye salmon.

11. You know how to pronounce Sequim, Puyallup, Issaquah, Oregon, and Willamette.

12. You consider swimming an indoor sport.

13. You can tell the difference between Japanese, Chinese and Thai food.

14. In winter, you go to work in the dark and come home in the dark while only working eight-hour days.

15. You never go camping without waterproof matches and a poncho.

16. You are not fazed by "Today's forecast: showers followed by rain," and "Tomorrow's forecast: rain followed by showers."

17. You cannot wait for a day with "showers and sun breaks."

18. You have no concept of humidity without precipitation.

19. You know that Boring is a town in Oregon and not just a state of mind.

20. You can point to at least two volcanoes, even if you cannot see through the cloud cover.

21. You notice "the mountain is out" when it is a pretty day and you can actually see it.

22. You put on your shorts and fire up the barbecue when the temperature gets above 50, but still wear your hiking boots & parka.

23. You switch to your sandals when it gets about 60, but keep the socks on.

24. You have actually used your mountain bike on a mountain.

25. You think people who use umbrellas are either wimps or tourists.

26. You knew immediately that the view out of Frazier's window was fake.

27. You buy new sunglasses every year, because you can't find the old ones after such a long time. Or better yet, you continue to wear your sunglasses on cloudy and rainy days.

28. You measure distance in drive time.

29. You often switch your car from "heat" to "a/c" in the same day.

30. You use a down comforter in the summer.

31. You carry jumper cables in your car and every driver in the family knows how to use them.

32. You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit under a raincoat.

33. You know all the important seasons: Almost Winter, Winter, Still Raining (Spring), Road Construction (Summer), Deer & Elk season (Fall).

34. You actually understand these jokes and forward them to all your friends in the Northwest or those who used to live here!

Have a good day everyone.

Amanda, if I remember, Todd's buddy had a very nice golfing outfit on!! Lito and Larissa just needed something that wasn't quite so "spring/summer" in style ;)
I admit I have 2 desks for my computers. One is downstairs and it holds my older desktop, printer, scanner and all that. That closes up so I can hide it when people come over. My desk upstairs holds my other desktop and has a shelf where I place my laptop. I'm quite good about not spreading out from the desk,b ut can't say either desk is entirely clean :o

Bethie, sorry about the cold weather, but you really don't need to dry your hair before you head out... I never do (totally) :p I am glad that you and your son had a good time yesterday. Sounds like his cup of tea really!!!

Now I remember why I miss your home cooking ;)

Nancy, you sneaked in... very cute post there :teeth:

Don't wanna work... yep, tired fo it already and I've only been here about 3.5 hours

Been watching the Star Wars trilogy today. I got my paws on a set of DVDs that are the original copy of the trilogy... so no stupid remastering that they did for the VHS in '95 and again this year for the release to DVD. So now I have a copy of all three endings to Return of the Jedi

I have the "original" releases on Laserdisc. I imagine that your DVDs are copies of the Laserdisc releases. If so, there are 8 seconds missing from Star Wars IV. When the laserdiscs were released, there was an uproar that a scene where Princess Leia was welding had been omitted. Leave it to the fanatics to notice.

I was too busy this weekend to do much DISing. I drove home Friday on a flat tire. I knew that something didn't feel right as I pulled out of work, but I just kept going. Turns out I had a huge screw stuck in my tire. I don't know how long it was going flat, but by the time I got home, it was on the rim. Believe it or not, I had the tire fixed on Saturday and it seems to be none the worse for the wear. While the tire was being repaired, I ran to the post office, hardware store (for a new mailbox to replace the one that was smashed), and to the gas station. For once, I got nearly everything on my todo list done.

We raked leaves for two hours on Sunday. And the trees are still full, so we'll be out raking again next weekend. I am glad to be back to work where I can sit and "relax" for a bit. And ketchup on the the happenings here on the DIS.

Shhhh.... I'm dissing from work - don't tell the boss! ;)

Your Northwest living was a hoot! :teeth:

Beth - I forgot to say how wonderful it was that you and your son had a great day yesterday!:D

TC - ahhhh, the "Honey Do" List! My favorite item to spring on my poor, unsuspecting hubby! Glad the tire seems to be holding up.

Sigh.... it's deadline week.....

Hmmm... I will have to watch it again John... I admit I dozed off during IV on Sat (was really tired I guess). I need to watch it again to catch another scene I wanted to see... I wonder if, at this point, anyone has re-edited some DVDs to add that back.

Shame on you Pam... we won't tell though ;)

Nasty weather out... had to make a quick run and it is freezing but raining... this is the fall weather I am not too keen on.

John--I just mulch my leaves with the mower..helps to have short grass too so the leaves blow in the neighbors yard..:jester: ..

Been too lazy to do anything today..went to get a haircut and both places i go to were closed.. ..

I guess Browns fans can now trash the Bengals until the next meeting...we are supposed to be better than last year but have the same record for the same time of year....

Done moping...tired of the rain...

next week is gonna be interesting..
why can't Chad throw for td's?
He's one of my FF QB's...

Todd, I promise not to pick on your team or try to rub it in that the Browns won yesterday. I'll be good about it :)

Wish though, I had a team as good as Kimmar's ;)

Ever have a CD in your car that you haven't listened to in a long time, and a song comes up that you totally forgot was on it, and it really hits you? I know I am babbling today, but a song I try not to listen to all that often came on and I found myself in tears when I heard it... never fails to make me cry (Goodbye's (The Saddest Word) by Celine Dion) Hadn't thought about that song in quite a while.

Is it quitting time yet? :p

Shame on you Pam... we won't tell though

Thanks!!;) I was tempted to post on Deb's post last week "what did you get for your boss for Boss's Day" that I slept with him....:o But I figured some would be outraged.... even though it was the truth!!:teeth: ::yes::

Kimmar - flash-freeze, huh... I'll have to try that!:hyper:

Elaine - several songs & movies make me tear up.

No matter how many times I hear you say that, it still makes me laugh!!!! :teeth:
I think you should've posted it, and then I would have enjoyed watching the responses (or imagining others' jaws dropping :p)

Oh you should have ::yes:: I would love to see some of them tripping out for a few pages then you could have slipped it in your married to him :teeth:

If we're gonna talk sports lets here it for the 'Stros!! Was that a come back or what? Our Houston teams are not known for their great comebacks so this was even better. The icing on the cake was that the Texans won yesterday too!

This is just a drive by post. Just got home with Evan from school and we have some things to do before we go get the big kids. The I have to take Michael to work, attend a PTA board meeting and sometime try to fix dinner.
