viable business opportunity?

If you are crafty then there are lots of opportunities. I mean, really crafty... like if you can sew.

If you go onto etsy.com and check out the boutique Disney clothes for sale you will see what I mean! People pay over a hundred dollars for these outfits, but of course you need the embroidery machine, and as I understand it those are over a thousand dollars... but you make it back pretty quickly I guess.

Then there is also the opportunity to be a Disney Vacation Planner, but if you don't have experience as a travel agent, this would be a little harder to break into. Most of the agencies are pretty fully staffed, but you could always investigate opportunities there too.

What about working at a local Disney Store? Do you live in an area where there is one? I don't know if this is the best time of year hiring-wise, but maybe?

That's about all I can think about. Good Luck! I fantasize about moving closer to the mouse on a daily basis, so I'm right there with you! :thumbsup2

thanks but I am soooooooooooooo not crafty!

I was thinking in the way of travel planning . . . persaonlized trips etc. I have done about 15 of them now for friends . . .

Has anyone turned their love for Disney into a viable business opportunity?
Last year I started my own Disney Trip Planning Service. I don't know what you define as a "viable business opportunity," but I feel like it's been a success. I'm a stay-at-home mom of 4 and I love Disney and I have been planning trips for family, friends and neighbors for years and everyone kept telling me to start my own business, so that's what I did. I created a Facebook page for my planning service and I plan a couple of trips a week - give or take, sometime more, sometimes less. I charge $50.00 to make resort, dining and speciality reservations and created custom park itineraries for each day they are in the Disney parks and I include touring tips for the the parks and specific details on how to use the transportation system, etc. I charge $25.00 for just the itineraries. I'm not making a huge amount of money or anything, but it's been fun and I get to make a little extra spending money for our annual Disney trip. I clearly market myself on a "consultant" basis and state that I am not a travel agent. Most of my client base is friend-of-a-friend referrals, but it's grown steady over the past year. I've met a lot nice people and have, so far, had all happy customers and positive feedback.

Last year we were looking for a way to make extra money, my husband is a stay at home dad so our kids don't have to be in daycare, we have a passion for Disney and found a company that hired us as travel agents were are still learning and have booked 5 trips this year, we graduated from Disney college of knowledgeand hoping to grow our business,
