Hi Everyone1

Hi Shawna! Glad Morgan had fun. Sometimes it's good for the kids to get out of their comfort level and try new things. The important thing is she tried something new and hopefully that will give her more confidence the next time.:thumbsup2

:lmao: :lmao: Gotta love eating Mickey!

Hopefully I'm not in trouble with Lynn though! As long as she knows I didn't run over Mickey on the road and scrape him off the car grill for dinner I should be ok!:lmao:

My brother in law and his family are coming out here for spring break. They have never traveled out of the state of Kansas. We've asked them to come for years but they always refused. Then they called us yesterday and said they were coming next weekend. :scared1: WHAT?? They are so clueless to what vacations are though because they are driving from the Kansas City area up by Nebraska and have 6 days and they want to hit Phoenix, Grand Canyon, California beaches and Disneyland. Jeff asked them if they had made reservations in California and they said "No, why we were just going to stop someplace for the night" :scared1: My inlaws will be on the 11:00 news as the hillbillies stopping off in Compton because it was the only hotel available. :sad2: Then they said they wanted to stay across the street at Disneyland like we do. They have no clue what day but they said they would find a hotel when they got done with the park that night. Yeah right. Its spring break the park is open from 8am-midnight everyday. 3/4 of Arizona alone will be over there not to mention everyone else. I am strongly fighting the urge to do a quick itenerary for them. Jeff suggested I find hotel rooms and go with them so they dont get lost or in trouble. Yikes, I might be going to Disneyland next week. Not this week but starting the 17th. :scared1:

This is making me laugh!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Dave would not have as much patience with them, as Bruce is!!

I think he's getting used to cooking them now. At first he was saying "tell me again why we're eating tiny Mickey Mouse burgers".:lmao: I might be in trouble when we run out. I probably have to start making Mickey shaped burgers so he can remember how to cook them.:lmao:

OMG Shawna. Some people are so freaking clueless. I wish you the BEST of LUCK! and patience.

OMG! Sounds like my parents. They used to take off like that spur of the moment all the time and we sometimes ended up sleeping in the car the first night if the hotels were filled up. I guess it was always an adventure though. Maybe that's why as an adult I plan everything to the nth degree!

Yikes 2 posts and I have to run. Morgans home from the convention. Not sure I really like those. Scantily clad teenagers and 8 year olds running around isnt really what we are into. There was not much technique taught just a bunch of choreography.

2 of her friends cried because they are anti hip hop. Morgan doesnt like hip hop either but she gave it a try. I was proud of her for not giving up. Then one class they didnt try either was Rock Jazz. Morgan was a little worried at first but the instructor ended up being hysterical. He had them do a whole class pretending to be robots. They made funny noises and were completely wild and goofy the entire time. Bless Morgans heart, her friends ran out crying and she stayed and then ended up being really funny and came out of her shell a bunch. She was laughing while she was dancing and having a blast. She came up with the funniest stuff to do. it ended up being her favorite class. I really wished the director would have seen her do that class because she says morgan is too shy when she dances. Well, tell her to be a robot and the shyness disappears. :rotfl:
I wasn't sure what a dance convention was, but it sounds like it was a bunch of classes? Cool! I'm glad Morgan had a good time. Too bad her friends didn't enjoy it, though. I wonder if they did a convention for the younger set if that would be more fun for the kids?

Howdy Shawna!!

I'm glad she ended up having a good time. :goodvibes
I wonder if you can pick and choose what conventions she can go to. Then maybe you can be more picky.

No we cant. They have the mandatory conventions listed on the studio schedule. Plus we are new so I might pick something worse.

Ya know I was talking with the mom of Morgans friends. They, like Morgan, are really into Ballet, lyrical etc well I told her that you found a school that specializes in that and others have on the dance mom thread. Unfortunately we have not found any around here. Its either strictly pre-professional ballet school or these schools that are jazz based that do everything with their company. Her oldest daughter would be good in an all ballet school but I dont know about her youngest and Morgan. Morgan loves ballet and she is really good at it but she also likes other forms of dance just not anything funky I guess. I really wish we could find a good ballet/lyrical school around here. That would be perfect for the 3 of them. I'm just a little worried we might not find a good fit. The older girls competed that night and their dance was a little to sleezy in parts for my taste. Not full out like most of the dances I just would not have wanted Morgan to do some of those moves. Sigh

You know Shawna, it's probably best to just let them go. I know the year I took my mother to WDW and had all of the hotels, meals, etc. planned. She mentioned that she wanted to go back with my stepdad. Only this time not plan anything!:scared1: In all honesty that's how some people like to travel and they tend to get a bit cranky with those of us that need to plan everything.

Yikes! :lmao:

They want to do all that in 6 days? And during spring break? Good luck to them. :rolleyes1

I remember some DISers who get so frustrated when their friends or relatives try to go to DL without any planning, then come back saying they had a terrible time, everything was so expensive, the lines were long, blah blah blah... :sad2:

So guess what I did earlier. I took a load of laundry out of the dryer to fold. Then, instead of grabbing the wet laundry from the washer, I grabbed a basket full of dirty jeans and threw them in the dryer. Luckily I caught my mistake before I turned the dryer on. Guess I need to start paying better attention.

It was for all ages over 7. Unfortunately, they didnt divide them up by age just level so in the beginner room there were many teenagers. When they asked how many pirouettes they should do during character ballet they said they wanted to do 3 maybe 4. I almost stood up and said if you can do 3 or 4 pirouettes you should be in the intermediate or advanced room. Our girls were on 2 and even those were not perfect. :sad2:

I dont know... I dont see how someone would spend that much money on something, without doing ANY research at all! The first time we went, I dug up everything I could, bought like 3 different guidebooks, and spent like 6 months online researching our trip! It was our first family vacation, and darn it, we were going to have fun!

Friday I dried a load of jeans that had been in the washer overnight. When I pulled them out of the dryer, they smelled funny! Dh sniffed and said, "OMG!" I guess they must have been in the washer longer than I thought. :rolleyes1

So had to re-wash the whole load, then re-dry them. :sad2:

Shawna, you know I love you... but this is Greek to me. :confused3 :rotfl:

I do know what a pirouette is, however.

I'm fine with no meals or no ride planning but i"m really nervous for them on the hotel issue. I'm having a hard time finding something for 3 nights in a row. Jeff Just talked to his brother and they said they hadnt planned hotel because they didnt think it would be busy.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Soooooooo, he said, well can Shawna book your hotel so you are in a good area and they said yes. He asked how many nights and they said they wanted to do 1 day at Disneyland (no CA Adventure which I think the older kids would LOVE) and 1 day at the beach and Beverly Hills and then they would drive back to my house. Ummmmm. Ok sounds like you need 3 nights then not 1.

I do that, too, for anything that's going to involve great sums of money! :lmao:

Oh, heck, who am I kidding? I research the dang toasters before buying one. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

But to just go to Ocean Shores for a few nights, not a big deal. What's to plan other than where to stay?

I agree with you, I can't imagine driving all that way without knowing where you're going to stay, what are the typical rates, and so on. That's nuts! And they're probably going to wind up paying a lot more money. What are ya gonna do, though, it's their choice. :confused3

Wow, you are so nice for doing that! Did the brothers talk price range or anything like that? Dates? I can just see you having it all booked, and then they say, "Oh, that's too expensive" or "Well, we don't want to be there that night, we want to be there the day after." :sad2:
