Twelve Months of Training and Travel

That seahawks race looks really crowded, especially with the lack of corrals.

And that is less people than there will be this year.. picture twice as many. :scared1:

I've had a lot of friends do color runs but I feel the mess would just end up in my car & I don't want to clean it up.

I pats off pretty easily, but yes... it is messy.

Yay for having a plan for April now!

thanks! :cool1:

Agreed. Although it will be interesting to see what the increase in registrations means in terms of speed. Did it attract more fast people, slower people or both?

Ya know.. with their win I kinda want to think it will attract fans...and not all fans are actually athletes. (not that I am...but you know what I mean) So maybe slower?

I have one near me, am not terribly good about having any until the afternoon and often forget to refill or am too lazy to get up (like right now lol). I do usually get at least 16 oz in by the time I head home but not always. Sometimes more. I do drink a fair amount at home though in the evening and suspect that holds me in the am.

Ah..maybe then? It is just interesting how people can definitely need different things.

I think so. Although a full week off will be weird! It makes me slightly squirrelly to think about. Although probably not enough to run back to back sun/mon. LOL!

I would feel odd too...but then again, I dont always get a lot of running in before the fl races either. I think it will be a good "rest"

Exactly! "decent enough" is a perfect way to state it. Conceptually I'd like to be faster but have no interest in the commitment to get it there. I'd rather commit to the distance being safe, healthy, enjoyable and fun than speed for the sake of speed.

I think this is great! I have been really trying on my runs to just go and have a good time. Today (and I will update on it with my weekly report) I did decide to stop a run and then start up because I knew that that what happened was going to interfere with how my pace was recorded so obviously I have not completely let go of the notion of paying attention to my pace... but I am definitely getting better about just letting go..

ooh...athleta just came out with a whole slate of yellow things, including both a tech tee and tank I think.

I will check them out! :thumbsup2

Just think, we will be spitting gnats out of our teeth before we know it!

:rotfl2: I have been lucky to not eat too many bugs, but yes... that is coming soon isn't it.

I read one of his online, I about died laughing!

It is just funny stuff!!!

Bob and weave at the start may well be the situation. YIKES!

yeah...that crowd is going to be crazy. I really hope they do some sort of staging. I know that with the color run we did in July, they released groups to start. It really worked well. Since the 12k is chip timed it wouldn't matter then if we waited 10 minutes to start...

:scared1:

Well I think the 10k cap is combined 5k and 12k. Kids race doesn't have a cap. So it could be 5 and 5. Last year it was 2 and 2 for a total of 4K. Based on what they've said all we really know is that it's at over 8K total combined signed up.

Ok, so that makes me feel a bit better. 5k though is still a LOT of people.

HOLY CATS THAT IS A LOT OF PEOPLE!

::yes:: yes it is!!!

They are going to have to slide that starting line down. :rotfl2:

::yes:: I do believe you are right!

I guess for me it may very well be good training in crowds for DL huh!

I think this is actually one of the reasons I am excited. (I have many reasons) I think that it will have a good crowd vibe because of the number of people... and thus be similar in feel to a Disney race. At least that is my hope.

.
I plan to wear my green capri's as they should sorta/kinda work. Unless is super nasty and then will do my tights. I really don't like the splash on the back of the leg but if it's just sprinkles I'll probably deal. And if it's going to much be over 50 I'd probably prefer the capri's for sure. Unless it's windy. I just read that our race last week had gusts up to 35 mph!!

HOLY SMOKES! :scared1: 35mph gusts that you had to run into?? Ok, I take it back...we are NOT evenly matched. :rotfl: You had a similar pace in your race as I did in my run. However you walked some AND you ran into the wind!!! I will do my best to keep up though. ;)

I need to figure that out. Michelle said it was nuts last year, I am thinking I want to be there right when it opens on Sat. BLEH. Which makes for a yucky sat am but then it would be done with. What time do you think you will go?

I do not know yet. I had just briefly ran it by Steve to ask if he would trek up there with me. I haven't even looked at the pick up times....

I saw that on last years event. I figure we will play it by ear based on what Jeff wants to do.

I think that is my plan too...just play it by ear. If the crowds are too much I might just bail.

Well you would assume so. I swear Michelle mentioned some but there is no word on the site about it. There has to be something though, right?

At least a banana, right?

I was so bummed last week, their site advertised oatmeal and great harvest bread in addition to vegetarian chili. No oatmeal and the bread had been made into PB&J's. Which were darn tasty but for 9 miles I'd been thinking about oatmeal! :lmao:

They advertised oatmeal and then no oatmeal? I would be disappointed...even if I didn't think about it for 9 miles!

I definitely had that thought last week, that the crummy weather would have been a bit more bearable with someone right there with you. Or at least sort of nearby. I kept pace with several people for almost the whole race so "kind of" ran with folks but it's not the same. Jeff and I will never run together at a race. He was close to a full 2 minutes faster than I and needs to be upfront whereas I need to be in the middle, or upper middle of the pack.

It definitely is a bonding sort of thing to have someone near by. I tell ya... I remember the people I ran near at each race. Dont know their names...but I remember them... would be nice to actually know the person who I associate a race with!

It is so true!!!!! I do use my hill...once a week....tops....

:lmao:

:rotfl2: better than me! I avoid. Maybe I should start climbing the mountain near us once a week...maybe that would help me. I know that mountain can be a challenge during the grey months though...and I don't want to slip. So maybe I will start once the weather gets better. Course, I think I said that last year too. :rolleyes1

Ya know.. with their win I kinda want to think it will attract fans...and not all fans are actually athletes. (not that I am...but you know what I mean) So maybe slower?

That is my gut instinct as well guess we will see huh!

yeah...that crowd is going to be crazy. I really hope they do some sort of staging. I know that with the color run we did in July, they released groups to start. It really worked well. Since the 12k is chip timed it wouldn't matter then if we waited 10 minutes to start

Exactly. At my little 500 person race they released groups in stages. It was pretty loose though....I think it was 5-6 min pace folks, then 7 and then maybe everyone else? :rotfl2: or something like that. What I did really appreciate is that people really did seem to place themselves correctly which was very nice. Not a lot of passing or being passed. Some but for the most part people really were very very good. A TON of Canadians. Maybe they are more respectful of pace? :rotfl2:

And a ton from my end of town, it was hysterical to hear the towns as they crossed the lines, so many by us.

Ok, so that makes me feel a bit better. 5k though is still a LOT of people.

Yes. Can you imagine though? If they stage, as they should, it could take them the full 20 to get everyone across the line and then BOOM the 5k. Which won't surprise me if it is even more crowded than the 12.
I think this is actually one of the reasons I am excited. (I have many reasons) I think that it will have a good crowd vibe because of the number of people... and thus be similar in feel to a Disney race. At least that is my hope.

See I think that energy will make us faster :rotfl2:

HOLY SMOKES! :scared1: 35mph gusts that you had to run into?? Ok, I take it back...we are NOT evenly matched. :rotfl: You had a similar pace in your race as I did in my run. However you walked some AND you ran into the wind!!! I will do my best to keep up though. ;)

Bear in mind that was the gusts. NOT the constant wind. This is what it looked like.

08 am from the Southeast at 19.6 gusting to 28.8 MPH
09 am from the Southeast at 20.7 gusting to 33.4 MPH
10 am from the South at 21.9 gusting to 35.7 MPH

Race started at 8:30 so the worst of the wind was after I was done. That's the part where we thought the race tent was going to blow over! So really for the most part it was running in 20 mph winds but that last .6 mile when we turned back into it...had to have been one of those gusts and just shy of 10 am, it really was brutal. Of course in theory when it was at my back it should have made me faster. Right? Not. About 2 or 3 of the miles were in the park though so protected from the wind, that was nice. I was really glad I had the jacket though for that wind.

I was curious what that really meant, so I checked it out

:lmao:

It definitely is a bonding sort of thing to have someone near by. I tell ya... I remember the people I ran near at each race. Dont know their names...but I remember them... would be nice to actually know the person who I associate a race with!

It is! Although the one guy I actually chatted with...we remarked on how the wind and rain were better...and then they weren't :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: better than me! I avoid. Maybe I should start climbing the mountain near us once a week...maybe that would help me. I know that mountain can be a challenge during the grey months though...and I don't want to slip. So maybe I will start once the weather gets better. The elliptical helps a little I think.

RR is roadrunner. It is an athletic chain store. Not big like dicks- small and more intimate. As a corporation, they have an online front as well. Their customer service can not be beat and there are always in store events to appeal to just about everyone. For example- I have been meaning to attend a girls night out there. Bra fitting champagne and raffles.. I am sure like anything individual experience can vary. I just know the one closest to me has awesome people who work there and go above and beyond for me. (Did you read how one drove the 45 minutes - give or take- to meet me and give me the matching shoe that I needed?)

How is training going for you? Trip planning? I have to do an update regarding mine- ADR day is tomorrow for me!
We don't have a RR nearby :( We have RunTex, but they have been slowly closing those down. I wish I could find somewhere that I trust to fit me. I got fitted a couple of years ago (with treadmill analysis, etc). I needed some new shoes, and that store is now closed, so I just went online quickly to the same brand I had been fitted (Saucony) website and looked at reviews. I ordered shoes from Zappos and they came in yesterday. I can't wait to try them out.

I started the 10k Wk1 Galloway program/app on my phone this week, but work got in the way and I only got Day 1 in. No walking/xtraining days and I missed my Day 2 run yesterday. I hope to get out before dark tonight so I can do Day 2 but we'll see.

If not, I'll just start Wk1 again next week, I guess (unless you have a suggestion to move on toe Wk 2?). For my 5 miler last Thanksgiving, I just used another plan (Higdon maybe?) and ran the whole training/race. I decided to try the interval walk/run and see what it does to my pace and whether I like it or not. I am really slow running the whole way. I have plenty of time between now and ToT to adjust/calibrate/decide between run/walk or straight run.

Trip planning - we actually made a change this week. Original plan was arrive Thurs night 10/2, depart 10/9. We want to go to Halloween Horror Nights at US so we thought we might just cab over there one night of our trip. Well, they just announced the dates, and they are weekend-only (Thurs-Sun), and we don't want to add it to the end of our trip (because we like to do US/IOA first, and Disney last since Disney does parks and everything else so much better, we feel it might be a "let down" to go to US last - like it wouldn't be something we'd look forward to). So we decided to go Thurs night May 1. Well, the flights that day would have had us leaving at 6am to get there in time to be at the "opening" of HHN, and we knew that would make us tired, for a late night, and we don't want to be tired, going into the TOT race weekend. So we added ANOTHER night and are now flying in on 10/1. We will take the afternoon flight, arrive at 5:30, town car over to Portofino, dinner at CityWalk (probably Margaritaville) and relax over the bay at the hotel. Then up early for Diagon Alley/Harry Potter stuff, park touring, etc, then make sure we're in US park at 4:30 to "watch the transition", then HHN that night, until late. Then sleep in and cab over to POFQ Friday.

We want to go to the Expo on Friday, and this is the day I wanted to try to meet you somewhere/sometime.

Our ADR date is Sunday and we decided to only do one ADR. We are doing Narcoosees Tues (or is it Mon?) before evening EMH at MK. We talked about it a lot and there isn't really anything else we feel we HAVE to do, and we want flexibility. We will do BOG FP+ for a late lunch on Sunday after the race. Then we plan to do lots of small plates at F&W.

So that's my planning summary - haha! You're probably sorry you asked :)

I'm pretty excited to go back to WDW. And excited to have some time with just Chris and me. We do have friends who will be at POFQ and will be joining us for the weekend, and running the race. But they leave Sun or Mon I think.

500 isn't that little! Most I do are under that. It is just that 10k is really big!!!

We will see though... in that picture I did not notice any sort of markers to indicate where each pace would start from.

And a ton from my end of town, it was hysterical to hear the towns as they crossed the lines, so many by us.

It is fun to hear "neighbors" crossing. Not that many people from where I am usually attend the events I do.. but I might hear some from other south king county.

Yes. Can you imagine though? If they stage, as they should, it could take them the full 20 to get everyone across the line and then BOOM the 5k. Which won't surprise me if it is even more crowded than the 12.

20 minutes will definitely be tight. I mean, if they stage it (which you are right, they should) and it is done similar to that color run I did..with maybe 500 or so at a time every few minutes. That would be 8 groups... and that would take too long to get everyone across. So it would have to be a release of 500 every 2 minutes in order to clear the way for the 5k start. (assuming 4000 in the 12k)

See I think that energy will make us faster :rotfl2:

Yes... and the feeling like if we don't move we will get trampled. That is a good motivator to make us go faster too. :rotfl2:

Bear in mind that was the gusts. NOT the constant wind. This is what it looked like.

08 am from the Southeast at 19.6 gusting to 28.8 MPH
09 am from the Southeast at 20.7 gusting to 33.4 MPH

I was really glad I had the jacket though for that wind.

If the wind is going JUST in the direction you are headed then it can be helpful... but wind doesn't seem to run in streams just in the direction you are going. I have had to turn around because it was too gusty in one direction... but it still would hit me from the side or catch me weird. Bottom line... gusts and wind do not make for an easy run!!!

I was curious what that really meant, so I checked it out

:lmao:

Where I live we historically (as in since I have lived here ;)) get one really bad storm a year that comes with hurricane force winds. Normally sometime in October through December. This year was not too bad. In fact, I think the worst was when I was in FL. When we had cedar shake roofing, we lost tiles each year.... entire ridge caps on year. We have had neighbors lose the siding off their homes. Fences go down each year. So your picture there makes me giggle.

That is cool you found your shoes on Zappos. Do know that RR has an online store if you were interested. You can still become a VIP member and get the same discount benefits.

I started the 10k Wk1 Galloway program/app on my phone this week, but work got in the way and I only got Day 1 in. No walking/xtraining days and I missed my Day 2 run yesterday. I hope to get out before dark tonight so I can do Day 2 but we'll see.

:cheer2: I know that it can be a challenge to fit things in. I also know that this is a very busy time of year for you, so good for you for at least getting started!

If not, I'll just start Wk1 again next week, I guess (unless you have a suggestion to move on toe Wk 2?).

I think ultimately you have to decide for yourself what is going to work for you with your schedule. If you got WK1D! done, maybe just start up with D2? That is unless you really feel you were not as successful in D1 as you would have liked.

You do have plenty of time! I know that the interval thing works for a lot of people. The fartlek thing works for a lot too. You have to find what will work for you. It is also ok to train one way and run a race a different way....at least I like to think so. I have yet to run an entire Disney race... but when I train I run the entire same distance. Course, maybe that is why my pace is so much better during training. :rotfl:

That makes sense to me. :goodvibes We arrive on 10/1 at 5:30 too... but to Tampa. ;)

We want to go to the Expo on Friday, and this is the day I wanted to try to meet you somewhere/sometime.

This is the day we will be headed to the expo too... so we could try to meet up there to say hello.

What a great plan! I like your plan better than mine. Course... I can't change mine cause I have picky people with me. :rotfl:

So that's my planning summary - haha! You're probably sorry you asked :)

Not at all!!! I was wondering how you were doing and what your plans were.

I'm pretty excited to go back to WDW. And excited to have some time with just Chris and me. We do have friends who will be at POFQ and will be joining us for the weekend, and running the race. But they leave Sun or Mon I think.

That is exciting to have time just the two of you. Ultimately, I am happy to have the additional 4 people with us. It will be fun. However given we are celebrating our 25 year anniversary it would have been nice to have it be just us... :scratchin I just realized I put on our "what are you celebrating?" Kira's bday but not the anniversary.

Today was ADR day. :cool1: For the first time in forever (that I can remember) I did not wake early and get on the phone at 4am. I decided that nothing was so important that it could not be replaced if we had to. I also thought I would try my luck online.

So with coffee in hand, I sat at my computer. First it would not let me go past 10/1. :headache:

Logged off and back in. Then I could see the dates I needed, but nothing would come up. :headache:

So then I called. I was anticipating a wait. I was quite shocked when in under a minute I had a real live person on the other end of the phone. Let me just say that she was quite efficient. I had a long list with different numbers of people who would be at various meals. She got them all straight without me having to explain anything. There was only a bit of a snag in booking our breakfast the morning after the race. There was only one time slot available. Everything else seemed to be around the times I would want.

In my opinion, I have way too many ADRs. I really had though we would be doing more f&w kiosks. However this works..for now. It is going to get confusing since we have essentially 3 groups of 2 who will have different dp credits. I will need to really track them. (although, I know Kira will have a handle on hers just fine)

So this is what I have.

  • October 1
    • Breakfast - Kira plans to bring Legnedary Doughnuts to the airport.
    • Lunch - Alaska Air actually does have meals for purchase, so we will eat on the plane.
    • Dinner - We will hit F&W after we get checked into OKW. Epcot is open really late that night.
  • October 2
    • Breakfast - After RD, Kira's birthday breakfast will be at CRT.
    • Lunch - We will leave the park and head to Captain Cooks.
    • Dinner - Steve, Girls and I will eat at Columbia Harbor House before MNSSHP. MIL and FIL?
They will need to pick a CS location for dinner. I have suggested DTD. I just hope they can figure out the difference and not pop into a TS location and use a credit for that.
  • October 3
    • Breakfast - Grab something in the room.
    • Lunch - Girls will have CS in Epcot. The rest of us will have Wolfgang Puck Express after we go to the race expo.
    • Special - All the girls will be going to the Garden View Tea Room.
    • Dinner - I am hoping that an early dinner at the Wave will be ok for MIL and FIL. They have a race the next day.
  • October 4
    • Breakfast - The girls will grab something in the room. After MIl and FIL do their race we will head to Kona Cafe.
    • Lunch - The girls will have a CS meal in AK. The rest of us will head to Earl of Sandwich.
    • Dinner - We are going to have an early prerace meal at Boma. I would have liked it a tad earlier, but we will make work what I got.
  • October 5
    • Breakfast - Before MIL and FIL leave, we will have breakfast at Olivias. It won't be an early breakfast because of the late night party the "grownups" are going to the night before. It was the only spot though. I would have liked it later than I got it for.
    • Lunch - Depending on if we split a CS meal the day before, we may need to get MIL and FIL to use a last credit for lunch. (thinking they can take it to go). I thought the BW Bakery might be a good place for this.
    • Dinner - The girls are going to have dinner at CapeMay. Steve and I will be dinning at the Yachtsmen.
  • October 6
    • Breakfast - Writers Stop is a must for Steve. Pastry and coffee are his favorites.
    • Lunch - 50's Prime Time was something we all enjoyed in January. I wonder if we did because it was not hot out then. Kira has not desire, but since Zoe is very excited to have some of my pork chop again. (oh yes ::yes:: I will be eating a pork chop again) She agreed to just go and sit with us to get out of the heat and perhaps have an adult beverage.
    • Dinner - Girls for an early dinner at BOG while Steve and I have a CS meal. I am not sure where. MK is open late, but I just do not see where we would want to eat. I could see us heading out of the park for dinner.
  • October 7
    • Breakfast - Steve and I will go for a pre RD breakfast at Crystal Palace while the girls grab a bite from the room or possibly use a CS credit.
    • Lunch - Via Napoli
    • Dinner - Captains Grill although I really could see dropping this and just picking up a CS meal.
  • October 8
    • Breakfast - Steve and I will go for a pre RD breakfast at Tusker House while the girls again just grab a bite in the room or use a CS credit.
    • Lunch - It will have to be a CS somewhere. Not entirely sure where at this point. I suppose it will likely be in AK.
    • Dinner - The girls will eat at Yak and Yeti while Steve and I grab another CS meal. Again, not sure where. I could see us heading to Epcot for the evening.
  • October 9
    • Breakfast - After we check out of BWV we will head to 1900 PF for breakfast.
    • Lunch - We will likely grab one last CS meal before we head down to Ana Maria Island. Possibly stopping in DTD to grab a burger? :goodvibes
    • Dinner - I hope that MIL and FIl will have this planned either at the house or some restaurant on the island.
  • October 10
    • Breakfast - In the house on the island
    • Lunch - In the house on the island
    • Dinner - I am hoping that we can have a nice meal out together.
  • October 11
    • Breakfast - In the house on the Island
    • Lunch - In the house on the Island
    • Dinner - Just like our lunch on the way down to Tampa, we will buy a meal on the plane.

All I can think is this is a lot of food without adding F&W in. What could we cut??? I know... this is silly. There is no way around it when it comes to my dd. At least I have yet to be able to talk her out of it. She INSISTS on the dp. So many of these meals are just to use those credits.

OOP meals are these
  • Garden View Tea Room
  • Olivias
  • Crystal Palace
  • Via Napoli
  • Tusker House
  • 1900 PF

Mostly breakfasts. I LOVE breakfast while on vacation. I would be happy to just have an early morning breakfast and then nibble throughout the day. Maybe throw in a couple special dinners... but

Garden View Tea Room will be a way for MIL to see the GF and for us to have some "girl only" time. Via Napoli will just be a large pizza that we split. I suppose we could cut that out. It is such good pizza though..and the sangria there is amazing!

So please feel free to chime in. I didn't add times to these meals because Kira requested I not share the specifics of EXACTLY where we will be at any given time. I can understand and appreciate that. However, sometimes I think it is nice when someone on dis sees that I have a big meal say planned for 4 hours before another meal and goes.. "woah.. did you think about this?"

So to kinda list some  areas. These are the times that are iffy.
  • Between the Tea Room and The Wave are 2 1/2 hours. As I said, the Wave is pretty early and I worry it will be a bit early for a "last meal". Maybe I should make it later?
  • Between 50's PT and BOG there is 4 hours and 15 minutes. However, the girls wont eat a full meal at 50's.
  • The time between BOG and possibly Wishes is 3 hours 45 minutes. In January, we missed seeing Wishes because our reservation was at 6:20 and we did not get out by 9pm. That was 2 hours 40 minutes, so the extra time should be ok, right? I think we got out closer to 10 in January.

Just found your PTR, so joining in. I just skimmed through so far, but will go back and read more thoroughly.

You and Shannon are inspiring me to consider a PTR for myself as well to document my Goofy plans. Not sure I'm dedicated enough to keep it up though. Excited to read more!

Glad to have you here!

I do a PTR just to keep myself straight. It is a great way to organize my thoughts...as well as get feedback. Also fun to "meet" people who are traveling around the same time.

Goofy? Wow! :worship: I am just not sure I have it in me. Steve thinks I do. He has suggested I try for the dopey. I am thinking not though. Especially if I do the phm. (there are days I am definitely in and days I am definitely out) If I did not do the phm, it would be fun to add a challenge to marathon weekend. Maybe the goofy is more my speed? Still, I had nightmares last night about doing a full marathon. The miles just never stopped.... :rotfl2: I need there to be a challenge that includes the half and 10k... maybe even the 5k. I don't think there is something like that for marathon weekend.

Oh...and to help you with my PTR... if you go to page one there are links to just the main info if you don't want to read the banter. ;)

That race picture is rather daunting! :rotfl2:

Yay for running a race next weekend with Cynthia. That sounds like a lot of fun! Enjoy!

Now I have to go back and read your October plans. I am sure they are awesome!

And that will only be about half the people!! :scared1: Seriously though it will be fun. It will give Cynthia and I a chance to run together.

Now I have to go back and read your October plans. I am sure they are awesome!
October plans are getting there. I still feel the need to tweak them though.

Today I got something rather exciting in the mail. I know I am trying to really just not care about my place or pace at events. What came today in the mail kinda set me back in my attempts at doing so.

The second place ribbon is Steve's. The third place is mine. :cool1::cool1: I was not expecting anything. It was a small race so I kinda feel like it wasn't too hard to place in your division for it. Still - fun to get a "major award" in the mail. :rotfl:

Nice to get the award!

And nice you are doing a race with Cynthia next weekend.

500 isn't that little! Most I do are under that. It is just that 10k is really big!!!

We will see though... in that picture I did not notice any sort of markers to indicate where each pace would start from.

I checked with Michelle, they only did the kids race last year but she didn't see any either. Still though, with the huge increase, I hope so!

It is fun to hear "neighbors" crossing. Not that many people from where I am usually attend the events I do.. but I might hear some from other south king county.

that part was fun!

Unless it's more like a minute gap, which is what I think they will have to do.

Yes... and the feeling like if we don't move we will get trampled. That is a good motivator to make us go faster too. :rotfl2:

If the wind is going JUST in the direction you are headed then it can be helpful... but wind doesn't seem to run in streams just in the direction you are going. I have had to turn around because it was too gusty in one direction... but it still would hit me from the side or catch me weird. Bottom line... gusts and wind do not make for an easy run!!!

Yeah, I had a little of that on my Weds run.

We seem to get a LOT of nasty winds up here. Good news is that by now all the trees that were going to fall, are down. Or we took down. First few years was a bit scary and we had a couple of close calls with the house. It's amazing to me how loud an Alder is when it falls. Those things SHATTER. It's like a bomb went off.

:headache:

I prefer online, I like the emailed confirmations.

That is weird about the breakfast. Makes me a little concerned about my arrival day, I guess I could look and Mary Ellen could always check in. Monday after mothers day....you wouldn't think would be that bad but...I'm shocked that you had those kinds o issues.

That is a lot of food and a lot of dueling plans to manage. It would almost seem easier to just let Kira book the stuff for her and Zoe (and the holds on her cc lol) and you stay out of it. Gives her the control and DDP she wants, and since that booking is separate than it really becomes her thing to manage? I don't know, it's like you are managing 3 different trips of food. Yours & Steves with eveyone, without everyone and then Kira/Zoe's part.

My concern with PTC and BOG same day like that is they are all DDP meals, so if not eating a full meal, not a great use of credits as you'll eat a lot at one of the other but likely not both.

BOG to Wishes should be ok I think.

Tea Room to Wave. You will basically be going straight from one to the other. Tea is at least an hour and more if you get treats.

Depends on whether you eat at the tea or not. I was concerned about this one for us, we had Tea Room at 2 and originally an ADR at 8. We ended up moving that ADR to another night entirely and going with CS for dinner that night. It was just too stressful to worry about getting back to a park after the tea, then to another resort for dinner at 6. Too much transportation time for us. But if you are at MK it would be fine and if you don't eat much at the tea it will be ok. However if you do eat at the tea and there are lots of yummies....then again you could be in the not great use of a full credit scenario at the Wave. For me that would be too close, it is of course the issue I have with the tea in general. I don't eat at 2pm for that reason, it messes the whole night up. LOL! Worth it though, you will have fun.

I was having trouble as well going past 180 days as well despite having my reservations in the system. I'm lazy though & am just making it each day when I get a chance but none of the ones I want are high risk to lose. I probably should have just called after seeing you had no issues! The last few times I've called, it has been at least a 15 minute wait.

In my opinion, I have way too many ADRs. I really had though we would be doing more f&w kiosks. However this works..for now. Nice to get the award!

It was a nice surprise.

And nice you are doing a race with Cynthia next weekend.

It is always nice to see her and to add in the opportunity to run with her, I am so excited!

I checked with Michelle, they only did the kids race last year but she didn't see any either. Still though, with the huge increase, I hope so!

Well, what will be will be. If they don't do marker or corrals, we will just have to deal. Is Michelle running too?

Unless it's more like a minute gap, which is what I think they will have to do.

I bet you are right! But then...:scratchin getting all 500 through the start in a minutes time? I think that is gonna be crowded. Still...like I said not a lot we can do about it

We are lucky... not many trees here to fall on houses. Weather can be so weird here. It seems like when you guys get hit hard we don't and visa versa.

I prefer online, I like the emailed confirmations.

I really would have preferred it that way... but I did get the confirmations numbers. Also, now with the MDE... they all are right there already.

That is weird about the breakfast. Makes me a little concerned about my arrival day, I guess I could look and Mary Ellen could always check in. Monday after mothers day....you wouldn't think would be that bad but...I'm shocked that you had those kinds o issues.

Well, I was wanting a late breakfast on the morning after the race. I suspect that could be the issue.

That is a lot of food and a lot of dueling plans to manage. It would almost seem easier to just let Kira book the stuff for her and Zoe (and the holds on her cc lol) and you stay out of it. I think I have it tackled... my one big concern is the inlaws.

My concern with PTC and BOG same day like that is they are all DDP meals, so if not eating a full meal, not a great use of credits as you'll eat a lot at one of the other but likely not both.

Steve and I plan to have our lunch at PTC. I am not wondering if it may not be a great choice because that kind of food isn't as great in hot weather. Kira and Zoe plan to just join us..but not really have a meal. (Zoe didn't want to miss out going there, but Kira didn't want to eat there) So the two of them will just maybe have a dessert, drink or ap. Then Steve and I do not plan to go to BOG.

BOG to Wishes should be ok I think.

I hope so. I am not worried for Steve and I..but for the girls.

Tea Room to Wave. You will basically be going straight from one to the other. Tea is at least an hour and more if you get treats.

Yeah... I think you make a good point. I think I need to push back the dinner to later. How much later? I dont' want to keep mil and fil up too late because they have to be up early for the race the next morning. I also want them to have a good meal the night before the race that is not too far from the morning. Maybe an hour later? Two?

Depends on whether you eat at the tea or not. I was concerned about this one for us, we had Tea Room at 2 and originally an ADR at 8. We ended up moving that ADR to another night entirely and going with CS for dinner that night. I think this is the issue with the tea for me too. It will be the only day to do it with mil... as will the dinner. So I am kinda stuck trying to make this work. Maybe we should just skip lunch that day and figure out where to use that CS. I am really working on Kira to go without the dp. I think she is closer to understanding. It really will make it so much easier. The ONLY time I wish we had dp is for CS. I will admit that I got a bit of sticker shock when we had a CS meal in January without drinks or dessert.

I did not call first thing. I wonder if it was the timing of it? It would have been about noon est. I still cant' get in to see possible reservations in the system. I can see dates now.. but it just tells me there is a problem checking.

Overall a good list of reservations!

:goodvibes thanks!

If you have those worries about The Wave, move it to 3.5 hours after Tea.

You think the extra hour would be enough or two?

I think you should be fine for BOG & Wishes.

cool :thumbsup2

As far as having too many ADRs, I would just keep them and worse case just cancel it the day before as plans change. You'll make some last minute planner super happy :)

I think that is my plan.. better to have too many now and shave them down than to be desperate to get more later.

Awesome job on getting ribbons!

thanks. :goodvibes It is kinda silly. It was fun to get... and I am proud of the ribbon.... but really... as I said not hard to place in your division in this race. Steve was 2nd out of 3. Means everyone in his division got a ribbon. Now, mine did have a few more so not everyone did place...but still competition wasn't in the hundreds or anything. :rotfl: In fact I was only up against 9 other people. (so there wasn't even 10's of people to contend with..just 10 of us total)

Congrats on your age group award! How cool is that?! :cool1:

Looks like a (big!) solid ADR list. Will be anxious to hear how you like Captain's Grille if you end up keeping that one. I want to try 50s Prime Time someday but my husband isn't into the idea since he doesn't want to get picked on by the servers! ;)

Congrats on your ribbons!!!!!!!! Forgot to mention that, that is very very fun!

It is not silly and you should be proud. I would be!

Well, what will be will be. If they don't do marker or corrals, we will just have to deal. Is Michelle running too?

She and her son are doing the 5K.

I bet you are right! But then...:scratchin getting all 500 through the start in a minutes time? I think that is gonna be crowded. Still...like I said not a lot we can do about it

It will be...interesting for sure!

We are lucky... not many trees here to fall on houses. Weather can be so weird here. It seems like when you guys get hit hard we don't and visa versa.

Gotta love microclimates!

I really would have preferred it that way... but I did get the confirmations numbers. Also, now with the MDE... they all are right there already.

I still do screenshots to be safe :lmao: though I've never had an issue I feel better. I also forward the emails to trip it. Which works great...until I change/cancel or modify and then I have to clean it up so I'm not confused!

Sad...I am finding myself wishing DL had MDE... I admit I've grown used ot seeing all the info in one place

Well, I was wanting a late breakfast on the morning after the race. I suspect that could be the issue.

Maybe...but I wouldn't necessarily think that is a restaurant everyone is hitting like that for that reason. I will say, it was very busy when we had dinner there in Jan, unlike the previous visit. Maybe the secret is out.

I think I have it tackled... my one big concern is the inlaws.

Yeah, that's where non DDP makes it easier, unless you are trying to pre-pay their meals.

Gotcha

I hope so. I am not worried for Steve and I..but for the girls.

Yeah... I think you make a good point. I think I need to push back the dinner to later. How much later? I dont' want to keep mil and fil up too late because they have to be up early for the race the next morning. I also want them to have a good meal the night before the race that is not too far from the morning. Maybe an hour later? Two?

Well, I guess for me it would kind of depend on how early it's really feasible to go to bed. I mean even if I have to be up at 2am, or 3am, it wouldn't be possible for me to sleep earlier than 8 and very likely not at all then, probably more like 9 or 10 and I'd just deal with it. Plus I can't go to sleep on a full stomach. So it's a lot of variables. Dinner for me isn't before 5 either. If you have the tea right when it starts then I'd want at least 3 hours in between, preferably 4 or 5. If you do a CS lunch, you'll not want anything at all at the tea besides a beverage or you won't be hungry at all for dinner. I'd do a bigger breakfast around 9, tea around 2 and then dinner around 5:30 maybe?

I think this is the issue with the tea for me too. It will be the only day to do it with mil... as will the dinner. So I am kinda stuck trying to make this work. Maybe we should just skip lunch that day and figure out where to use that CS. I am really working on Kira to go without the dp. I think she is closer to understanding. It really will make it so much easier. The ONLY time I wish we had dp is for CS. I will admit that I got a bit of sticker shock when we had a CS meal in January without drinks or dessert.

This is where I think TIW really comes into play. You can do a TIW lunch at say the Plaza...for the same as you'd spend on a CS lunch.

Congrats on your age group award! How cool is that?! :cool1:

Thanks! It is kinda cool. Totally unexpected.
Looks like a (big!) solid ADR list. Will be anxious to hear how you like Captain's Grille if you end up keeping that one. I want to try 50s Prime Time someday but my husband isn't into the idea since he doesn't want to get picked on by the servers! ;)

We have stayed away from 50's PT for that very reason. Steve never thought he would like to be picked on. I will go into it on my TR for sure, but it wasn't nearly anything like I would have thought. In fact.. if you were not paying attention you might just miss it. The food was very good. I am just not sure it will be good when it is 80+ degrees out.

Congrats on your ribbons!!!!!!!! Forgot to mention that, that is very very fun!

It is not silly and you should be proud. I would be!

Thank you. It is fun... but I still think kinda silly. ;)

Sad...I am finding myself wishing DL had MDE... I admit I've grown used to seeing all the info in one place

I know... MDE and even Magic Bands... I wish that DL had them both.
Maybe...but I wouldn't necessarily think that is a restaurant everyone is hitting like that for that reason. I will say, it was very busy when we had dinner there in Jan, unlike the previous visit. Maybe the secret is out.

I don't know..maybe.

Nope.. not trying to prepay.

OMG! I totally miscalculated!! Our Tea and dinner are about 3.5 hours apart. (so approx. 2 and then approx 5:30) I still think maybe 6:30 would be a tad better. Mil and Fill are in Australia right now and wont be back till the end of the month... but once they are back I am going to get their take on things. Until then I am just going to keep the 5:30 ADR.

And that is mostly what we did in January. I kept a running tally of how much we spent vs. how much we would have spent on the dp... and even with so many more ts meals, we saved a good chunk of change. Did we eat exactly the same way? No. I don't think we ever each ordered our own dessert and often we drank water. I even ordered an ap rather than an entree once. I loved it though because I didn't feel like I was overeating or wasting food. We will see though.. maybe we will be more hungry in October and the dp will be a nice so that we can splurge. I almost wonder if alternating and going just TIW one trip and not going all out with desserts and such and then the next splurging might be a good thing for us. We will see.

I know you all wait on pins and needles for these so figured I should get to it. :rotfl:

Seriously, I hope I don't bore you all....

Total Miles for the week 21.1 with an average pace of 9:04

Monday, March 31 - With the weather getting nicer out I decided to go a bit farther than normal. 2.73 miles in 23:24

Tuesday, April 1 - I can't even remember anything about this run. 4.11 in 37:25 Run and done is all.... Edited to say that I remembered what I did! I knew this wasn't a fun run. I ran the first 2 miles and then decided that mile three (that is on a road that I call the road that never ends because it is a mile long) I would try intervals. I figure iI need to try some new approaches every now and again. And after reading Shannon's description of her half training I think this is what I might actually need to be doing. Anyway, I would run hard for a minute and then walk for a minute. I don't think I was doing this correctly -maybe a quarter to half mile would have been better? I thought walk run often was in ratios of one minute to one minute. All I know is that at the end of the mile I was did not feel as though I had the energy that is often so talked about with walk/run methods. IIt was hard on me. I decided to slow my average pace down for the last mile (which was still faster than my average pace during the intervals) I was able to recover from what I did to myself during the intervals and did finish not feeling like I was totally dying. The mile with the intervals was pretty rough on me..

Thursday, 4/3 - I started out and I felt great! I must have felt like I was running in mud on Tuesday because I do remember that I felt like I was flying. I was making great time. THEN I saw a possible obstacle ahead of me on the trail. There was a woman with two dogs. One large one off leash and one small on leash. As I approached I slowed because the woman was not aware I was coming up on her. I thought she was trying to fix her running gear. Turned out she was trying to get a doggie bag. She was so engrossed in this task that she did not see that the small dog had come to say hello on her cord style leash (the kind that lets out as far as the dog wants to go) Little dog had wrapped the cord around my legs..between my legs. It was like a comedic skit where the person is hopping from side to side trying to untangle themselves. Only I was not a comedian. It was still however funny. I stopped to get situated and spoke with the gal for a few minutes. I THOUGHT I had paused my running program. Turns out I had not. So I now had added standing still into my pace. I got back to running and decided I would run to the end of the trail and stop (rather than scrap the whole thing or have it continue to average into my pace for the remaining 4 miles) So I stopped at 2.12 miles and 19:31 minutes in. See.. I was flying. ;) Even with standing still for a few minutes I managed a 9:13 pace. I then started back up my ap and continued on for another 4.15 miles. I did slow a bit I think, but still managed to get those 4.15 done in 36:46. (8:52 pace)

Saturday, 4/5 - The weather again changed and it was a rainy day. I decided I should get in some elevation changes (hills) in my run so I changed my route a tad. With the grey clouds, I dressed like I have for months. this was a bad choice. It was warm and humid. So not all that comfortable. I managed to get. 8.02 miles in 1:14:41 done.

I came home from my run Saturday and was tapped more than normal. I was so very very achy. I assumed that due to the physical nature of my job I had injured myself. I had been sore from something that happened all week, but now it was almost unbearable. My low back hurt, my knees hurt... I felt like I had been hit by a truck. I could not get warm all day Saturday... but still thought it was a combination of injury, the 8 mile run and the rain (although I was lucky that the pouring rain stopped for the entire time I was running) Sunday I started feeling like my eyes were burning and I am pretty sure in the middle of the night I had a fever break. I woke today with a sore throat. :headache: I still ran this morning, but man it was tough! I have a 12k on sunday. I really really hope this is ONLY allergies and not some sort of new plague.

Ann, as always I am in awe with your running. :worship: And I really hope that you are going to feel better soon.

Cool ribbons!

I love the way you chronicle your runs. I can't believe you got twisted up in that dogs lease. OMG. I couldn't help chuckle a bit, but that had to be awkward as heck!
