Running 40 Miles in a week! That sounds very daunting to me.
I also am scared by the fact of running 8 miles without a single walk break. You rock!
Thanks.

Total miles for the week - 21.1 with an average pace of 9:02
I went out and for the first time in weeks felt so good running! I mean, I have had good runs...but this was really good as in I felt like I wasn't weighed down. This turned out to be my "3rd" best 4 to 6 mile run. Shortly before I arrived back home it began to rain so hard that water was running into my eyes. (I did not anticipate this down pour and thus had no cap on) I was soaked by the time I got in the door, but I felt SO SO happy with how well I had done.
Friday 3/28, I didn't run. However I ended up meeting up for not only lunch but dinner with different friends of mine. I think that sometimes, we pray and we think we are praying for one thing... but we are often given something else. I prayed not to be lonely as Steve became sicker... and the next day I received calls for meal dates. Wonderful company.. and amazing food... made me realize that I couldn't allow myself to skimp on my training. Just the dessert I had at dinner alone probably gobbled up any calories I burned running that week. I LOVE bread pudding and this was by far one of the best I have ever had. It was served with cinnamon vanilla ice cream with a bourbon caramel sauce and Jim Beam soaked cherries. OMG! SO very good.
I am very inspired by yours and Cynthia's miles. I never add up the total number of miles I do in a week, but I am on a weight loss kick right now so I am logging my calories burned.
We still don't have the best weather here and yesterday it rained a lot so I ran on my treadmill in the garage. Yup - that was fun.I was super happy just to run 3 miles and couldn't WAIT to get off the treadmill at the end.
I joined a gym at work this winter. We have one right in the hospital and it turned out to be a godsend with all the cold, crap weather we've had. I alternate the elliptical with treadmill runs and I am enjoying the variety. I have learned how to get a pretty intense 4.5 mile workout on the elliptical and I like that my arms are getting some action.
Wow...that's a lot of moving in one trip. I'm exhausted just thinking about it. But you are staying at two of my favorite resorts...OKW and BWV.
at that pace!
I admit, I totally ignore the placement of my runs, or ellipticals with run keeper. Most of the time the initial mileage is wrong anyway so until I fix that online, the place is not right.
"Friends" visiting will definitely put me in a funk for running or working out, I think that's totally normal. I am so sad that Steve's health is still in the flare up stage and it's dragging you down. I can really really see where if you've gotten the gift of doing something together, that you didn't' have before, it would be hard to deal with the thought of it slipping away even temporarily. I know Jeff gets a bit down when all my various dumb issues flare up as it does impact him too and his experience. I don't think it's selfish at all, I'd feel the same in yours (or his) shoes.
Isn't it funny how one truly amazing run can just sustain you? Even if it's crappy out?
I actually think my amazing run last Sunday did impact yesterdays race, same distance and one experience just couldn't live up to the other. As much
mental as anything but I know exactly what you mean! Of course the last .6 miles that were going into headwinds that felt like a brick wall, and a short steep hill might have had something to do with it too. OMG those headwinds! Jeff and I were joking that that last bit killed our times but really I can't blame it all on that. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a horrid finish, I'd just hoped for a bit faster than it was. It was definitely at training pace. Which I guess with 4 water stops that I walked and the headwinds isn't horrible but still, I hoped for a bit better. Even though I know I said anything under 1:30 was good enough it was a little closer to that than I wanted (1:26:xx). I am not convinced though that I should have done (all) the water stops but it was good to test. Except for the 2nd one where I accidentally got gatorade (as did Jeff it turned out later) and BLEH! Nasty. Interesting mix at the race, 181 women and only 86 guys. Fast serious women too but I knew that going into it. Nary a tutu but there was one guy in a cat in the hat, hat! Jeff did well, 4th in his age group (out of 20) and 27th overall, 17th for men. Mine was ok, 12th out of 28 in my bracket, 105th overall (bleh) but 57th for women so I am ok with that. Good enough at least.
I have to figure out how to handle my next 2 weeks, for some reason I didn't realize the 12K is only 2 weeks from today and I've a 4 day work trip in the middle of it. Which may be good as it will force me to rest far more than I did this week and that should hopefully mean a bit better result.
When I was at my massage on Thursday my therapist asked if I was coming in after the race so he could put me back together.![]()
You should make the Raglan Road bread pudding. AMAZING! I have another recipe that is almost as good...that I make with a bourbon cream sauce.
YUM!
But OMG you are right on the calories of it.![]()
Great job on the overall miles. For someone who is "not" training for anything that is quite a lot to me.
My legs are quite unhappy with me at the moment at my 23.07, definitely the most I've ever done in 1 week and certainly not ideal to do it all in a race week.![]()
I'll run in the snow first.

Today I have to be at church at 8:30 am and then right afterwards we are going to see Denny's mom. That's an all day affair, so no workout for me.![]()
Glad you had a great training week. Keep it up.![]()
I think you will be ok. Since they went with a tiny table in the living space, you will have room for the air mattress as long as it's a twin, not a double. A double might even fit. We certainly had zero issues walking around in there with the bed set up, even back and into the studio. It's a split bathroom so that part is very nice, just be careful of not locking doors when you are done in there. It was kind of funny but we did have the occasional lock out issue.
You and Steve could always join Jeff and I for the Seahawks 12K...it's in April, in Renton so not horribly out of the way (comparatively speaking).
40 miles in a week??????????

I am so sorry about the asthma attack! That is scary, I know Jeff struggles with it at this time of year too but oh, how scary when it happens especially when you thought you were done.
This week I have run 13.77 which is a bit more than I'd really planned on before the race but does make up a bit for last week. I'll hit 23 for the week with the race which I think will be the most in a week ever for me. Not positive about that but think so. Not the kind of taper I had in mind but oh well. Bummed about the weather forecast though.
Your training pace really amazes me.
Oh, and not that this has anything to do with anything but....Athleta just came out with the cutest yellow skirt! So, if the black one works and I don't melt or hate the longer shorts underneath, the yellow may just be perfect to still pull of a bit of Belle. Same shorts, skirt appears to be a bit lighter but who really knows. I'll probably order it so I have it and then return it if the black one isn't working out.
If all works out, it will just be check in on 10/1 and then on 10/5 with us then heading down to AnnaMaria Island on 10/9. If we are unable to snag BWV for the night of 10/5 that is when it will be a pain. Steve thinks if we have to move from OKW to OKW and then to BWV, we might as well make it OKW to somewhere else then to BWV. I am not sure I want to bother with another reservation change... not only because the last one was such a pain, but because I am still optimistic that sometime in the next 6 months that one night will become available at BWV.
Thank youI feel like I should be getting faster.. but I seem to just be at the same pace I was a year ago.
I truly hate feeling funky like that. I normally tend to be more of a glass half full..but man not when waiting the arrival of my special friend. Then everything seems/feels much more than it is. I truly hate that Steve is not feeling well. I think that last week was just more "remembering" how it has been in the past that got to me. So far he is being quite the trooper with it. So far I have not seen any change in his participation in daily life. I was hoping that he could get ahead of this and stop it before it really takes hold. However we are past that now and I think he will need to go in for treatment in order to kick it back into remission.
I was wondering how it went! I haven't been online as much this weekend as I would have liked. That is a pretty good turn out! Over 250 people. My goal is to try to stay in the front half of the pack of any race. You did that!!!AND you were in the top 25% of women! That is absolutely awesome!!! Headwinds SUCK. Wind can make for such a challenging run. I think that is an awesome time btw! And given you walked the water stops - even more impressive! My run yesterday I finished in 1:32:xx I didn't walk any of that. So when you
me for my pace just know... that I think you are I are close... but you still are just a bit faster than I am. So let me just
you for you pace!
I think this is what throws me a bit... seems like once you start signing up for races/events there is always just one more around the corner. It is making it hard for me to know how to handle my runs. I probably am over thinking it... I think you have your mileage up there already from the 15k. So I bet you just maintain a bit for the next 2 weeks.... but I may not have the best advice to give since I myself am just unsure of what I am doing.
So will you be going back in to be "put back together"?Hopefully, you are not too sore.
![]()
I am tired today, but it struck me that I am not sore. Like at all. I took note of that and actually stopped to wonder. When did that happen? When did I go from being sore after long runs to not having any muscle ache. I remember that during the training for the first ToT, my legs were so sore that I could not squat down. It seemed to be a constant state of my muscles. I remember that. I remember my muscles burned after the first phm. Somewhere along the line that muscle soreness has gotten to be less and less until now.. It is odd.
As for your miles... that is a lot of miles! nearly 10 though are the race, correct? So really just 13 miles for the week leading up? yeah... I can see that being a bit high...![]()
It would be a twin...so we should be good there. Split bathroom..So like what we had at OKW.. two doors that both lock and person goes in door A... locks both and then exits out door B. (leaving A locked)
Renton is not that far! I have been wondering what I will do in April. Given that Steve is not feeling well, I am anticipating April will be solo for me.I will look into the Seahawks 12k.
![]()
Yeah.. the more I think about that one the more I am thinking NO. I will figure it out... I just was hoping for an "easy" - "do this" type of plan. Just one that didn't make me run that many miles!
I wonder if it was due to pollen of some kind or maybe it was the lack of any sort of cool down what so ever. Either way it was not fun and it definitely left me anxious when it came to my next run.
Yeah, as I already mentioned (not sure why I didn't see this post and respond to it earlier) 13 may be just a tad high when tapering for a 15k. If you ran that kind of mileage often I might not think so, but this was the most in any one week so maybe not ideal.. but you did it! And guess what? You are still alive to talk about it.Same thing for the weather... you lived. Course... OMG if it was like it was here up there, that must have really been odd. One minute it was pouring and the next blue skies. I know you had the wind. Hopefully it wasn't too wet.
It shouldn't. And when I say average.. that is all my runs that RK has averaged together for the week. So my short runs that are just over 8 minutes per mile get averaged with my longer ones that are more in the low 9:xx min/mile pace.
It does have something to do with things! A costume for the DLH!!!I still think I will just use my minnie skirt and such.. but it is fun to think of outfits. I am currently working on thoughts for the AHM. Under Armour came out with a bunch of super hero shirts. Most are DC and not marvel though... but there are some marvel that are great. It will make putting something together for Steve super easy. Me.. not so much. (wonderwoman is not marvel) It is fun to plan though... so a yellow skirt for Belle! Very fun!!
Hi!I've got a lot to catch up on, but wanted to say hi and let you know that I'm here....
UGH, I'd be optimistic too. But I'd probably keep the OKW/OKW simply as you know your luggage will not be in transit.
Plus, when you check in for your first ressie if you have a lockoff 2bedroom, you could ask that one of your studios be the studio from the lockoff if at all possible that was you'd only have to move one studio. Go down and check out/in before you take bags to bell services in hopes you can just stick all in the 1 studio while they assign the other. Plus the 2nd one could be ready right then, you never know! I'd actually email DVC and put it in my room request notes (not call). Then it wouldn't be quite so bad. If you have a dedicated 2b now I might look to switch to a lockoff for that reason alone.
Maybe, maybe not. Jeff's pretty much been at the same pace most of his life. I think the longer run pace can slowly improve but average? Maybe not. I don't know. I look at mine as a weighted average versus a straight average and given that I don't do any short runs, I never have much under 9 to bring it down. LOL!
Yes, 261 people, about the same as the 10k we did. Not top 25% of women lol, but top third, which I will take. I did walk the water stops, I'm just too klutzy. Only garbage bag people at the 3rd and 4th ones though so a little odd. Still, I can't imagine all that added more than 30 seconds to my time. I also am not convinced the water, or the 3/4 of a shot block I had, made any difference or was needed but it was good to test in an actual race.
As for the conditions it was...meh. LOL! Windy and Drizzle/light showers for about the first 3 miles, less wind and dry for the middle 3, I even took off my jacket, and then the wind and showers came back in for the last 3. It was the last .6 that kicked our behinds as we turned around into the wind. It was literally like slamming into a wall and then there was a short, but steep hill. Both of us were feeling pretty good until that happened and it really made you lose your mojo. Jeff said for him it was the first time that wind had truly impacted his pace. All that aside for both of us, it was a bit of a weird race. For whatever reason neither of us had that race adrenaline that we'd had before at the 10K and Jeff has had at many other races. Maybe it was the weather, maybe it was that I ran too much during the week, maybe it was the fact that I didn't "need" a POT, maybe it was the mental comparison with our lovely run 6 days prior but I just wasn't totally feeling it and as a result didn't totally turn it on out there. Also, when push came to shove I really did (in that moment anyway) decide I had no interest in injury and would have twinges in my adductor and knee and decided to play on the safer side. What was nice, for me, is that I did keep pace with several folks and it was nice to have a consistent group to run with. That is where I like having the watch as I can really see the splits. Not the true negative trend I'd like to see but not a horrible trend either, more of my normal bell curve (faster, slower, faster). Except for that last .6 LOL! Factor out the water stops, headwinds and the one glass of wine the night before and the too much running before the race and maybe that shaves a minute or a minute and a half I'd guess. I think I was more bummed as literally it was the exact same pace as the prior week and that run I was so holding back as to preserve my legs for the race (and running 2 hours after a huge breakfast, not my norm at all and bleh!) that I did expect the race itself to be a little bit better than the training run.
I will say....I am SO glad I bought the new jacket and the long sleeve tee. I was very pleased with what I wore for the temps, rain and even the wind. It could have been so much worse. I felt bad though, right at the turn (before we all realized the headwind would make us stop) a woman I'd been running with most of the time who was doing the 30K (5/15/30 all started together) turned at the 15K turn instead of keeping going. Race officials kept trying to tell her that it wasn't her turn around and she was just like "I'm done!"
![]()
I was also glad we finished when we did. The 30k folks had a nasty squall while we were in the tents getting our snacks after. We thought the tent was going to blow over! It did clear up.
I think my big question, which I tried to pose else where and clearly rambled (or most folks think a taper for a 12 is silly or whatever I am not sure) is how long to run on Sunday. I will likely run Weds, Fri, Sun and then Tuesday and take the rest of the week off from running until the race based on the work trip. This trip will not likely have much oppty to run until Friday which then is only 2 days before the race so...who knows.
I go in Friday. No, not too bad. My legs were definitely stiff on Sat and I do think it was as much the cumulative effect of upping miles. Not in a can't squat miserable way but just in a good workout sore way. Tight more than anything, I meant to do all my stretches yesterday and between house-guests, piano recital, youth group, costco and grocery store and a nasty cut to my finger...the day got away from me.
I wasn't sore after the 9 mile run last Sunday but was after this Sat. So just a wee bit more than my legs were used to.
It was not the plan that is for sure! But having had 6 days off prior to the first 9 miler, combined with the sun, we couldn't resist. That said, I should have run less on Weds. I knew it, went as far as Jeff wanted to, and shouldn't have. Did it really make a huge difference? Likely not. But it wasn't ideal.
it's a bigger race, looks like 2K last year. Which for me I think will be good from an energy and adrenaline standpoint, not to mention experiencing something a bit bigger.
It would be really fun if you were there!!
40 is NOT my definition of easy.Honestly I can't seem myself, with 3 runs a weeek, ever doing more than 25.[/quotee]
I dont think I have ever hit more than 25. Maybe 25 and some change...but never as much as 26..so the 40 seems unreasonable to me. Now... Steve is actually encouraging me to do the dopey next year... and for that I could see doing 40 a week. (which is probably why I will NOT be doing the dopey.)
I really should do some short fast ones but...don't want to. LOL!
I think that is me and cross training. I know I should... I just don't really want to.
Can you get one of the mens shirts and then have it altered into a tank? I need to test the skirt I have before I get the yellow one but it has promise. finding the top though may kill the deal. We will see.
Well, the guys are all like spiderman and such... guy characters. I don't have to be completely girly... but a female character would work better. Then again, just a simple "agents of shield" shirt may work just fine.
If the skirt works then great.. if not, is there any reason you couldn't do "Belle" with shorts or leggings/tights/capris?
Well, we will have the car. I figure we will just load up luggage into the car and drive to breakfast. After breakfast we will head to the resort to attempt to check in...where ever that may be. The biggest thing about OKW that would make that one night move easy is that you basically pull right up to your room. I don't think many of the resorts are all that bad to park and then drop bags off... but I don't think any are as simple.
If we were to switch the 2 studio to just a one bedroom that would even be simpler. Since mil and fil are in the studio it would just mean us staying put in that one bedroom.
I don't know... my pace maybe even was better for a while than it is now. I know my long run before January that was 10 miles I was able to do with a 9 minute mile pace. Maybe I am running too much and it is dragging my pace down?
I think there are many thoughts when it comes to tapering. I believe I have even read there is no need to worry about it unless you are running a full. My opinion is this... if you have a race, no matter the distance and conserve energy before it.. it will allow you to have more energy come race day with strong and fresh muscles. I probably will keep my miles lower during the week of the 12k. (kinda like last week were it was like 2, 4 and 5 before the 10 mile) Only since it is a race and I will be planning to run the 12k (I didn't set out at the beginning of the week to run 10 at the end of it.) I will probably do 2, 4 and 4..maybe even less.

I have no answers on that one, mine goes up and down and well. I just try to roll with it and not think too much. Except obviously I do. LOL! I don't know how many of those 8K are in the 12K versus the 5K family/kids one. My bracket last year had 100 in it, I wouldn't be surprised if that doubles or maybe more? Who knows! And with rolling hills...not entirely sure what that will do to my pace either.
On the water thing, I dunno. I never run with it so am just used to it I guess. I did need it at the end of the 15K for sure but I'm not sure a sip of it ever 3 miles or whatever really does a whole lot for me.
My work trip definitely complicates it a little. Right now I think my plan is probably 5 miles weds, 5 miles Friday and then 7 on Sunday but include my hill. I'll have to run at 7am on Tuesday to get one in before the work trip, it will be pretty impossible to get anything in once there. So maybe 4-5 Tuesday am before I fly out if I can get moving in time. I'd get back in time Friday to run but then it's too close again. Bleh. I'm sure Jeff will run Friday but I will probably sit it out. My gym workouts will take a major hit too
I looked at a plan last night that would take it up to 17 before the half. Which is overkill in terms of completing the half. Would it be good for time improvement? Probably. I figure I'll play how long the "long" runs end up being a bit by ear. What I have no interest in doing is the 4x800 or whatever x800. BLEH.
Hmmn, I could see where that could be a little tricky....I imagine there will be a LOT of Storm's. LOL
I'll figure something out. At the end of the day, comfort and fabric not bugging me will trump all. The skirt is cute though but until I really test running in one that has those kinds of shorts in it, the jury is out. Someday it will get warm enough here for that. LOL
Ann those are exciting April plans! I love how cute Kira is in the first burrito party pic and how cute you are in the second! What is RR?
I am not sure either. I will of course set out to do my best... but I also want to have a good time. I really suspect if they do not release people in waves that the congestion may be the biggest culprit in hindering time.
I wonder something... do you stay very hydrated normally? I am always "running low" Blood tests always show me to be slightly dehydrated. I also suffer dry mouth from (I assume) the pre diabetic stuff)
Ugh, I can see where the work trip is going to get in the way.. but the good news is I don't think you need that training in order to succeed at the 12k.I think the plan you have the previous week is great!! Getting up early on Tuesday though would be a challenge for me if I knew I needed to catch a flight
yeah.. those plans that go up high seem to be overkill to me too... but then again, maybe they do help with pace improvement? I don't know. And the whatever x 800... these things confuse me. I am better off if I just try to go out..and run and maintain a consistent pace.
Black widow too... I really am not a super hero fan. Not that I dislike the genre, but I just don't' get "into it". So it does make the whole picking a costume out a challenge. I want to have fun with it though...
I am with you on the comfort winning out at the end of the day! And yes...some day it will warm up.
Since it is now April, I should talk about what was decided for this month.
Cynthia (who seems to be more and more the person who inspires and encourages me with my running) talked a bit about a local race. She then send me a facebook page where it talked about how it was going to fill and that it was capped at 10k runners. Not sure why that enticed me so, but as soon as I got home from work that night I took a closer look. (I mean... something is going to sell out and I am not registered for it) I asked Steve what he thought. He definitely was not up for it or any amount of training for it. I however felt like I should do something and what better than a big race that is bound to be a lot of fun. AND Cynthia and her dh are registered...so even more fun!!!
![]()
So on Sunday, 4/13 we will be running the Seahawks 12k. I must admit it has me a bit nervous. I mean, that is a lot of people. It isn't a disney race. What if I get trampled? The website is fairly vague. I don't see if there will be any sort of corral system. It does state that they require a 15 minute mile pace. Ok... I should be able to manage that. I don't think I have ever seriously done a race and had it be that slow (yes, my first ToT was slower..but only because I walked a good majority of it)
I do see we will run around the Seahawks training facility. Now... I know... superbowl winners or something... I don't follow sports. I know that living in this area I should be super excited for them..but I haven't really followed them at all. NOW with this race though, I am kinda excited to get into some "spirit" I may even get a new skirt for the day. (I mean... I can't very well wear a pink skirt can I?)
Oh my goodness!! That is just a bit over a week away.![]()
Then I registered for an adventure fun run at my local RR sports. Now, if you followed me in the past you might remember that I drag my kids along and we have a good time doing this. We have won quite a bit of merchandise during these and free food from restaurants.
We have yet to use up all of our gift certificates from last years race season. However, this was a big one that Josh (Kira's dh) won. A burrito party for 10.
We used it after one of last years runs. So much fun!
So do I have a plan? Well, I actually have done a bit more this week than I normally do any way... but I willl set out to maybe run 6 miles tomorrow and then maybe 8 on Saturday.Maybe 7... depends on how I feel. Then I will trim it back a bit the week before the race. Maybe doing 2, 4, 4 and then the race.
I won't train for the Adventure Run. I want to stay that they are usually 2 to 3 miles depending on where you go... and not at all timed. (other than you have an hour to go out and get back)
Kinda funny that just a week ago I didn't even know if there would be plans for April. Now I feel like I have direction! Thanks Cynthia!!!!
What fun at the burrito party. You all look great.
My kids are doing a "Color 10K" which I guess you stop at points and get paint splashed on you (you are to wear white)...it's for charity.
Your running plans are going so well! Keep up the good work! Don't sweat the times. Better to go slower and feel stronger than run and wear yourself down and possibly get hurt!
I have made the terrible mistake of promising two people I would not run for the month of April. One of them challenged me and said I couldn't do it.......well that whole loving to prove people wrong is working against me for once instead of for me!
Those races sound like a great time! They do one similar to the Seahawks one here at the Patriots stadium over the 4th of July. I am debating it, but it is a gamble because it can either be REALLY hot or REALLY rainy here and always humid on the 4th.
It will be interesting to see how they handle it. It will also be interesting to see the breakdown of 5K versus the 12K. Last year it looks like it was split 50/50.
I
I've never had a test to know one way or the other. I suspect not. I'm not good about it at all. But perhaps my body is just used to it?
I
I am not overly concerned and honestly I think my IT band needs a rest, I am going to bring it up at PT. Good news is everything else felt good last night but I did notice the knee. Not horrible but not something I want to push either. I do suspect I'll stick with 4/4/7 for this week and very likely have a full week off from running. I'll have 2 gym workouts in there though. It is unlikely I will be on top of it enough to run before my tuesday am flight.
I
I am sure it would make me faster if I did some of that stuff. Just not sure I care that much about being faster

Yep, Black Widow too. Of those 2 Storm seems better but boy, not a whole lot of options.
ILast night was decent! I did knickers with a long sleeve and kind of wished I'd gone for short sleeve. Wasn't quite warm enough for the skirt but I can smell it coming!
Awwmutual inspiration

I amthat you are doing it!!!
IAnd I amthat the possibility of a sell out was enticing.
ISeriously though...next year...

You will not get trampled! Or well, if you do, we will get trampled together. The start will be interesting for sure.
I love an excuse for a new skirt. Or anything really. They have a picture of the shirt up on the FB page, it's pretty cute AND it says it's a tech shirt if you scroll through the comments. Admittedly I liked the "12" from last year better but this one is cool and does say champs which is good.
Are any of the kids doing it with you? There is a raffle after the 12K....I seriously doubt Jeff will be willing to stay as it is after the kids race so won't be until 11. If we start at 9 that could be more time to kill than he's up for, assuming he gets his hip straightened out he will be done under an hour. He doesn't mind hanging out for a bit and will of course wait for us, but about 20 minutes post race snack etc once I finish is probably his limit and my guess is that will only have us at 10:30 or so. You never know though, if the merch and stuff is compelling enough, all bets are off. I definitely want to find/meet Michelle after as well but they should be done probably around the same time as you and I (or just before or after) since she and her son are doing the 5k which starts 20 min after us.
I did just scope out a post race breakfast/lunch spot thoughWe will definitely want to eat before we drive back north.
I am very excited you are going to do itI think we will have a blast, even if it does rain it is unlikely to be cold. It's going to be so different, in the best possible way, to have someone to actually run part, or all of a race with!

We will tackle those hills together.![]()
Well, with the note that states if you plan to walk you need to do the 5k... I can see why it would be split. I know that a 15 minute mile pace is not an issue... but it definitely could be more daunting for some if their pace were at 14 minutes per mile. Disney... that person would be fine. Here.. might be more of a challenge. (especially with the hills)
It is usually just a part of the standard blood test. Is it creatinine? Low/high? I can't remember. In any case, it just just a mild indication. I just wondered if you were good about having a water bottle near by you during the day. Some people have one that they drink from all day and refill. Since I am out in my car and then in the store... I try to have a drink while I am driving, but sometimes I forget and it will be all day and I will have just had a morning coffee by the time I hit bed. (aside from what I drink during any run I did)
I wouldn't be concerned either. 12k is like 7.5 miles... I am sure you will manage it just fine even with a week off from running.![]()
I think that is kinda the conclusion I am coming to as well. I am aware there are things I could do in order to improve my pace...but just not sure I care enough to do them. I think I run at a "decent enough" pace. It is kinda odd to not see the improvement any more... but like I mentioned to Katie above, I think i am getting to a place where participation is just the goal... not necessarily a PR each and every time. I think it is probably just unrealistic to expect that at this point especially without a change to my training.
Well, I had did a little wiki research. There are a lot of obscure characters. Wasp seemed to be a possible good fit. I have several black skirts... and would just need a yellow top then. We will see.. I just know I need to cover my belly. November will not be nearly as hot though in CA so I wonder if I will need a tee rather than a tank.
OMG! The smell!!! Hasn't it been just amazing? (well, except when the smell of enumclaw overtakes the nice smells)
And it is warming up. I didnt need my jacket today, ran with long sleeve but by the end was wishing for the short sleeve.
OMG! 29 minutes that one sold out!!! I think I need the book. Have you read oatmeals stuff? There is talk on the dis thread that they are looking to open more spots... but wow!!
It will be interesting for sure! Seriously though... I doubt we will get trampled. I am going to have to assume that the runners will be more curious than that. And if they are not... well, I can bob and weave just fine.

I may just wear that shirt... and a skirt of course. I looked through and saw a lot of tutus from last year. I really do wish that I had a better body for them... Oh well..
The picture that made me gasp a bit though...

It looked like it thinned out well enough though...

But those are from last year when the race had a quarter the number of participants...
Nope. I am not sure that Steve will even come up to just spectate. I am hoping to drag him up with me to pick up my packet on Saturday though...
Looks like the raffle could be fun and worth staying for. I was reading how last year so many people didn't stay and so it was hard for the person calling out the number to get a winner. (since you have to be present to win)That is kinda what happened to me at one of the adventure runs last year. It was torrential rains... most people left. Finally, when there were so many "unclaimed" prizes they just said next ticket gets the entire lot. It was me!
I could definitely see eating before I head down south! Just depends on what there is at the finish. Do you know if there are post race refreshments? Maybe during the raffle?
I have never ran with someone. I have started a few races with Steve, but I usually lose him not too far into the race. The first ToT was so much fun because I had someone with me.. but we walked a lot. This will be the first race since then that I will have someone to run at least a part of the race with. I don't plan to be chatty or anything like that... but just to have someone else will be great!
It is so funny how we are complaining about the hills... you would think living where we do, surrounded by hills that we would be use to them in our training. I just avoid them like the plague....
