Turkey Legs: Tastey or Trashy?

Are they a CS on the DDP. I've seen them at MGM but do they sell them anywhere else in WDW?

Not sure if they are on the DDP, but they are also available in Frontierland at MK. The first time I had one (like 8 years ago) bees kept trying to land on it, but they were so good I didn't care and kept on swatting them away and eating it(turkey leg, not bees). If you liked smoked meat you will probably like it. :thumbsup2

The worst one was full of tendons and was very salty.

That's enough for me to NEVER try one!!! ... and I've NEVER seen a turkey with a leg THAT big!!! ;)

Yuck is all I can say. I've tried them twice and both times yuck! To rare for me. Really red and gamey tasting.

ETA: Don't know this person but I googled Turkey Leg to see if there were any good pics on how red the turkey legs are. Found one and yuck again!

That picture..........ewwwwwwwwwwwww :crazy2:
and all the talk of "tendons" is making me feel sick!!

But as I said before to each his own!

I love them, love them ,love them. The very 1st year at WDW I tried one (That was 10 years ago) and I keep running back for more. They taste like the best "ham" I've ever had. And for a quick meal, I buy to by that Buzz ride and my DS and I share one and my 2 DD's 13 and 3 share one. They are yummy.

I think they are really nasty .. looking and smelling. The worse is seeing them half eaten and throw on the ground! Yuck!

For the people who are so grossed out by them, are you also grossed out by say, a slab of barbeque ribs? That may sound like I have some agenda but I really don't, just curious if there is a greater underlying preference involved or if there is something more specific about the turkey legs.

I've never had a turkey leg from WDW, but with all this discussion going on, they sound great. I'm definatly going to make a point to try them out in Sept.

I've had one. They taste alright, but they're kind of a pain to eat, they're so hard and stringy inside, and the skin's consistancy is like wet cardboard. My freind fed some of his to a crain, and then probably threw most of it away, I'm not sure.

I don't like ribs either really. Big chuncks of red meat on bones just does not sound good to me.

I haven't had one in years, but I know that last time I did, I liked them. In fact, my dad's already planned on having one on our MK day when we go! :cool1:

I too have thing with meat on the bone. My DD had to have one last year so i gave in. The outside looked pretty good and I tried a little piece. It was pretty good. The inside though.. was fatty and had a huge piece of cartilage in it that was surrounded by this clear slime. I know that since it is from an animal there is no way for anyone to know what is going on inside it but I was grossed out all day. To make it worse my DD still wanted it and I had to get napkins and scrape off the clear slime stuff. We smelled like turkey all day too. Now the sight of people munching on them makes me gag.

FYI --- the Turkey legs are not "rare"...you can't eat turkey rare unless you want food poisoning. The red color of the turkey legs comes from the smoking process.

Oh I totally agree...something about when you bite into it and grease runs down your chin yacks me out. That being said, my DF loves them which is odd because he refuses to eat chicken on the bone but a big nasty turkey leg is ok... :confused3
