Truly bad dining experiences?

food was great at Cape May char brkst
but it too SEVENTY mins for Goofy to get to our table!

They weren't truly horrible but the only experiences "bad" enough to keep us returning there were:

Tony's Town Square (didn't like the food at all)

Les Chefs de France (horrible service)

Mickeys Bacyard barbeque - (the atmosphere was too much like a free for all)

We've really enjoyed most of our other meals from Columbia Harbor House to California Grill.

In 2003, I tried it for the first time for dinner (had breakfast before and was pleased) and it was the worst meal I ever had on property. The food was awful and so was the service. Was there for over an hour and only 2 characters came through. After I got my first drink from my server, never saw him again until I had to hunt him down asking other cm's. After 20 minutes, he finally showed up, dropped the check on the table and left. Never again at Chef Mickey's for me.

I tried the Rainforest Cafe at DTD once and won't be going back. The food was cold by the time I got it and the service extremely slow.

We only have had 1 out of about 100. Not so bad. Ours was definitley due to service and was at Crystal Palace. We had a PS for 10:00, we weren't seated until 10:55, when they started to turn over for lunch at 11:15. My DD7 at the time went up to get something else, she was yelled very harshly by a food service CM for looking at some of the lunch items, and she started to cry. The CM told me ( as I comforted her and explained to her we were there for breakfast and that was lunch food) that we should know better, and not to come in for breakfast at 11:00. My DH was mad, but as I told him, if that is the worst thing we come across on a great Dis vacation we will be lucky. It is all good!!!! :sunny:

Not horrible, but disappointing. No flames, but Chef Mickeys. Waited 75 minutes past PS, food cold, buffet dirty, service non-existent. And no, we're not overly picky.

And CRT--well, loved the castle, got a bad table (right when you come up the stairs...boom, there we were...we got bumped into the entire meal). But I figured sombody's got to sit there, no biggie. But the server was such a downer. Sour, dour, grumpy man. Barely made eye contact, slapped food on table, never check on us, etc. If this ever happens again, I'd go find him, pull him aside and politely ask him to be nicer. My dd's are watching and wondering if they did something wrong. We still liked going, but I'll speak up next time. I know others have had better experiences here.

I read the post about the server yelling at the child at Crystal Palace....that would have put me through the roof!!!

I think it totally depends on server, time you go, who's cooking, etc. I've had a great experience in many of the places mentioned (our R&C experience was magical), but I have no doubts that at other times, the experience was awful for someone else. There are just too many variables.

uumm the obvious question being then why do they schedule an adr for 11!! and what harm would it have been if she had a chicken nugget? if they don't want anyone to touch the food they should close off the service area while they are setting up and tearing down the meals

many of the problems seem to be with servers which probably means they are short staffed and overworked or underpaid since if you are happy in your job you usually are a more pleasant person to be around while you are performing it...maybe it's all those years of 10% tips as reported on other threads ( sorry, bad me just had to get smart :guilty: )

I love eating at DW and never had a horrible experience but the following annoyances: A waiter at CRT actually had us place our order with the family next to us. It was worse than it sounds. 2 bad experiences with slow service and upset stomachs at RF. A very rude young man at the podium at Plaza that was a slap in the face because I was so nice. A waiter at Mexico who kept saying "puta" to his buddies and I was eating with 2 other females!! Once at CRT they brought my pasta with absolutely nothing on it and then smirked and said oh, you wanted sauce.!!! Sometimes CM's are wonderful and sometimes they take out frustrations on the wrong tourist. I love eating at DW and will return everywhere but RF. Oh, I forgot, the bartender at AKL absolutely tried to refues DDE discount and made fun of me when I insisted. We will return with our DDE card this December. I am developing thick skin.

Out of many trips and many meals we have only had 2 bad experiences. And I have heard both those restaurants get some great reviews from others. :)

I can add a new one to that list~ Rose and Crown :confused3
I was so looking forward to it, but.........First the service was BAD from the word go, and the food, well not much bettter!
The steaks at our table had a sauce that nobody cared for, but they werent cooked right either. 3 out of 4 could live with how they were cooked but one was burnt! One child in our party had chicken breast and I'm telling you it was so dry it crumbled when I cut it. Others had the Fish & Chips and they were all soggy.
We would have at least sent back the steak..........Oh wait no we couldnt cause our waitress was NOWHERE in site the entire meal~
We did find a manager who made excuses for her, and after that we didnt want to hear it, that was LONG night. We wont be going back there!
Thankfully this has been our only "bad" meal/service!! :goodvibes

I think I had the same waitress! I wasn't thrilled with the food either, the sauce on the steak made it unedible to me. I figured I just ordered wrong, but no excuse for the nonexistent/poor service! The worst part was when Illumination began and we couldn't go see the show because she forgot to bring us to the viewing area and by the time I found her it was full. She then led us outside the resturant to the public patio and pretended that that was where she was supposed to bring us!

Hmmmmm.....I don't think we ever had a bad dining experience. One time at Tony's at MK they forgot my meal so everyone else ate and they brought my meal pretty much when everyone else was done but I didn't care because we were having the funniest conversation (I don't even remember what it was about now) and we were having such a good time. Then the manager came over and said for being such a good sport about not getting my meal, he gave us our meal for free and two front of the line passes to anywhere in the MK (It was July extremely crowded and this was before FP, so everything had a huge line). That was so nice of him!!! We've had less than perfect meals at some places, mainly because of not very friendly servers, but nothing to complain to anyone about because hey I'm in WDW with the people I love more than anything!

I had to change my post because that's not completely true. Some places we have eaten we had great service and the food would have been great if it was our style. Like Boma's, the five of us Mom (45) Dad (53) Brother (25) Me (22) and my cousin (20) went last May and it had to be the most unappetizing meal I have ever eaten at WDW. I tried every single one of the soups  but ended up eating chicken nuggets and mac & cheese after I ate the peanut rice :earseek:

most of my experiences okay

rfc at AK was probably worst. bad food, bad service..

but all in all it comes down to $$$$

you are paying premium prices and when we do this we expect better food and better service...when we don't get this,. we are miffed..

likewise when I am in a local diner or fast food chain, I don't expect much and if they screw up I am okay about it..

We have only had a couple of bad experiences. At Mama Melrose's, the waiter was inattentive and bored and the flatbread pizza I got tasted like they put Alpo on it with cheese. Boma's, both DH and I got food poisoning and got it down to the field green salad. That was the only thing in common that we both ate. Other than that, we have enjoyed our meals at WDW.

I have just one horror story. We have had many, many meals at WDW ranging from pretty darn good to excellent.

We were served practically raw sausage at the Princess BK at Akershus. The kids happily tucked into the sausage, first thing - they love sausage, I was working on a bagel. My husband takes a bite of sausage, freaks out and grabs the kids sausages. We complained to the manger and she was pretty uninterested. Thankfully, the children did not become ill. I think the children's meals should have been comped at a minimum but, I can't tell you why, I didn't seem to have the fight in me that day.

We were disappointed that LeCellier doesn't serve the really, really tender, aged, Canadian beef they used to but their steaks are still pretty darn yummy. Not a bad experience at all, just a small gripe.

I know most people have great service at CRT, but ours was a dissapointment. We were rushed rushed rushed! The food isn't great either, yet we knew that beforehand.
We just wanted to experience the CRT breakfast everyone is fighting to get ressies for. I posted about this a few days ago, and I stand by my opinion that reservations are made 90 days in advance for a reason: so people who make reservations can get in and be served, not "Here's your coffee, here's your food, here's the princesses, heres the check." Very un-magical!!!

The only truly bad one we had was at Garden Grille. The "old" Garden Grille family style character dinner.

The food was horrible. The chicken was super greasy, all dark meat, yuck. We weren't into catfish, so that got passed up totally. The veggies were the closest thing to edible and they were all greasy and slimy too.

Our waiter was a smug jerk. He was either totally unavailable, or running by without stopping. When we did ask for drink refills, we got a heavy sigh and a reluctant "OK". We never did get the refills, just the check. But by that time, we were so ready to get out of there.

It was expensive and we were all starving when we left. I think we ended up running to Electric Umbrella to get some quick food after.

Terrible. Never again will we do Garden Grille.

I had a terrible meal at the Pepper Market Grill. Little did I know that a Fish Taco would involve throwing lovely fresh chunks of fish into a deep fryer followed by the tortilla and thrown onto a plate. I ended up with icky stuff dripping in grease, literally.

I honestly thought I was going to throw up after I ate some of it, we had to go for a walk in the fresh air for a while so that my stomach could settle.
