Truly bad dining experiences?

We went to Brown Derby the week MGM opened. The signature Cobb salad was gross. Lettuce that should have been tossed in a much less expensive restaurant yesterday (and in the Brown Derby three days ago). Service was non-existant.

That was (obviously) years and years ago, and I'm sure the Brown Derby doesn't get rave reviews off of decaying lettuce - its likely improved.

The Garden Grille before the new renovations. Food was disgusting and the server was a moron.

Just one, really, in the 30+ times we've been, and it was Prime Time Cafe.

We were publicly humiliated (I was breastfeeding at the time and our pimply faced server made me stand up while I was doing so) and just treated very rudely.

I get the whole 'schtick' that goes along with the restaurant, it was too bad our server didn't.

It was like Hitler does I Love Lucy. We'll never go back....

I had many great meals and excellent service at WDW, but when you do have that one horrible experience (inwhich I did have to get the manager involved), it leaves a sour taste in your mouth.

San Angel Inn, 1999, had PS, waited over 60 min w/beeper, hostess "lost" our information (?). Seated in the worst table in the restaurant 20+ min. later, waiter ignored us, other tables receiving drinks and chips before any recognition. Then the food arrived- chefs special was COLD and inedible. Asked them to reheat it, came out colder. After manager was called, I politely told him that I would be happy to pay for the margarita, but there is no way I'm paying for this horrible experience and food that was untouched. It just kinda put a damper on the whole evening.

I can't think of any that were truly bad at the time we were eating (if you don't count having to leave the Kona Cafe because of misbehaving kids... mine :guilty: )

But, after an 'okay' meal at Captain Jacks (like a previous poster), I got sick, and stayed sick for two days.

not to be overly sensitive cause i don't really think it was singleing me out but....nope not expecting to much...our lousy waiter at Boma told us (when we were using a breakfast voucher..)"OH Food Stamps" and sniffed his nose at us ( not joking around) waved us to the buffet while he fawned over the table beside us ( who comically when he was out of earshot, talked about how small a tip they would leave and left less than 10% for 8 ) brought our coffee and juice only after they left even though he kept offering them more & they were right beside us( 10 mins or so after we started eating) then disappeared for the rest of the meal until he rudely slapped the check down after he figured we were through. when my husband told him he was leaving an additional tip over what was included( against my wishes) he THEN asked if we wanted more coffee or juice( think he was a little embarrassed at how he treated us)

At AP we were agroup of 8. all teenagers or adults, well behaved, dressed nicely. one in the party told the waiter we had just arrived that afternoon from driving from Ohio . he sniffed "I can tell" ( uh no, he couldn't we had all changed showered ect before dinner, we really don't sleep with the hogs in Ohio) and kept making bored faces, rolling his eyes ect everytime anyone whould ask him anythng or he took our order...totally out of line.

Ohana cousin was too busy trying to please the large group next to us, ok more people bigger tip- but why walk right past us ( 2) to take them food and not even offer us the crumbs they didn't want. we almost had to wrestle him to the floor to get our dessert and bill, forget a drink or food refill

I do think some of the places give worse service to smaller groups , at least that has been our experience.

We've never had a terrible experience.

I liked the ambience of Brown Derby, service was fine, but we just didn't care for anything we ordered. No offense but I make a much better cobb salad. :confused3 Who knew?

Not a bad experience in terms of service, but a large group of us felt the food at the Liberty Tree Tavern was just awful! Kind of embarrassing for my son-in-law because he was treating his parents for their anniversary..

Posted this before, got flame suit on but Le Cellier was the pits. It was poor service, poor greeter, 40 minute waiting time and we were there at 11:15 for a Noon ressie, AND poor food quality. This is one restaurant we will and have not visited again.

Just one. San Angel Inn. Service so bad we thought we fallen through a portal into bizzarro land. Rude. Hostile. Incompetant.

we had a pit of a meal last week at the McDonalds inside AK--right after breakfast ended. gross food was still sitting all over the tables, and I swear the fries had been cooked the day before. service was rude; it was awful.

We also had a terrible experience at Wolfgang Puck's a week ago. We asked if there were nuts in the bread and the server literally screamed at my DS (age 17 and very sensitive about it) that he hadn't told her he had food allergies. She came back 3 more times to reprimand him. I had great chicken there, but his pasta, my daughter's spaghetti and DH's meatloaf were all "off."

We had a terrible dining experience in 2002 at Garden Grill. We will NEVER go back! Terrible food and even worse service.

I would have immediately insisted that the server bring his supervisor over so he could repeat that comment to him, then ask for a different server. I'm sure his boss would have been as upset as you were and would have taken appropriate action. Sometimes I tolerate poor service if it's just carelessness, but something like that would get reported to save the next customer from a similar experience.

If my DH had insisted on leaving an extra tip in these circumstances, we would have had a talk! I always leave an extra tip if the service is decent, but would be sorry the server was getting the standard one in this case.

The nerve of the guy!

Um, uh, WHAT?! First, why was your husband over-tipping after such bad service? Second, why was he discussing it with the server??

:confused3:confused3:confused3

We had a all around bad meal at Prime Time in MGM. The food was to my standards awful, my husband who eats anything didn't want to eat it. And our server was not in Character so it didn't make for a fun evening and we were all the way in the back room so we didn't get an all around experience of the place.

I haven't had any truly bad dining experiences. I did have a grumpy server at the Grand Floridian Cafe one night. But the first time we ate at the Grand Floridian Cafe, our server was beyond amazing. :sunny:
Our server at the 50's PrimeTime Cafe wasn't in character which was disappointing. However, the food was delicious. :)

We had a truley terrible experiance at RFC at DTD.

There was 8 of us and when we checked in and were told there would be a 45 minute wait and we decided to wait. After about 55 minutes we went up to the counter to check to see how much longer our table would be and they had given our table to someone else. The person taking the names said "We already sat your party, but I'll put your name on the list and it should be about 30-40 minutes for a table." I then asked to speak to a manager and then waited another 10 minutes until she showed up. At that time the manager said she would look right into it. She then returned about 10 minutes later and said she could have a table for a party of 8 ready in about 20 minutes. At this point we left and just went and got some snacks.

We've eaten at other RFC's, and this seems to be a problem at all of them. Poor service, so so food, and did I mention poor service?? :confused3 :confused3

Hmm. I just had a remarkably similar experience at my local Bahama Breeze. So, certainly, bad service is not unique to Disney. ;)

My only bad experience was 1900 Park Fare, The food and the service was bad. We were sat in an area where the waiter/ress had gone home, the food was sparse and also stale, never agian.

The only truly bad food we've had at Disney was at Pizza Planet. Yuck, yuck, yuck!!! (What are the chances DS will forget that "restaurant"-I use the word loosely!-is there??)

We've now had two pretty awful service experiences. One was at 'Ohana's character breakfast in December. Food was fine, but service stunk. There were 5 of us, and it took him 4 tries to finally get us all of our drinks. He seemed to think it was funny. We practically had to beg to get ONE!! refill on food. Don't know that any of us ever got drink refills. (Not that we didn't try!) Our other awful service came at 1900 Park Fare about 2 weeks ago. Server never took our drink orders, just set down a coffee pot and poured juice. When we finally managed to summon him for what we actually wanted, he seemed mad that we had "changed our minds". How do you change your mind, when you never told him in the first place?? I never did get my decaf coffee. He gave it to another table (who probably assumed it was regular). He also didn't offer refills, and wouldn't even take our used dishes off the table. Percentage wise, we left him the worst tip we've ever left for any Disney server. We will not go back to 'Ohana's for breakfast. Food and characters weren't fabulous, just okay. 1900 Park Fare has historically been our favorite character meal...we're hoping it was just an off day with a sorry server.
