Mission Control - Apollo Program:

I've been at the pool with my kids this morning. Just getting caught up with you guys at KSC.

Have we had lunch yet? I am starving.

I knew you were at the pool. How was it? Great day here for the pool or beach! I checked in with the TAGLIARCHY this morning.

The tour is almost over so we can go get some lunch or early dinner - what, didn't the astronaut ice cream tide you over? So where do you want to go? I have exausted my list of restaurants for the area - just kidding, but we normally eat in for most of the time. We should probably head back over to WDW and try and grab everyone who were slackers and didn't come along on our beach trip.

I thought this historical photo was very cool.

Nice pics Castlegazer. I'm up for heading back to WDW. Should we grab some snacks & eat in the Limo on the way back? I'll have Pringles, Ritz Crackers & Easy cheese, Red Vines licorice, Skittles, StarBursts & my new favorite candy: Pina Colada Almond Joy. YUMMY!.

OK, I am so NOT kidding you. The greatest candy bar EVER!!!! I've only had one, my SIL (llebrekniT) bought it for me. Now I cannot find one anywhere!! It is driving me crazy. I think I'll have beer to drink. I will have Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale, the greatest beer in all the land.

Very cool tour, castlegazer. It's changed so much when I went there oh so many years ago.

A close friend of mine who at the time was a young journalist on the education beat was sent down there from DC to cover the historic first liftoff with a civilian - a teacher. He really didn't want to go, knew he was being sent because none of the more senior reporters wanted to go. Well, it was the Challenger liftoff with Christa McAuliff aboard which he watched explode with the astronaut family members. It haunted him for years. And of course, all of the senior reporters were suddenly mad they had sent some cub reporter down there instead of them.

OK, we're on a mission! I hate to say that Cocoa Beach is not the retail mecca of the world so our pickins may be slim here, but we will have the limo driver stop whenever he sees a store and hop out and go and search for us.

OK, foreveryone else, DHB and I want seafood, so we are headed over to Fultons so she can see if this is somewhere she wants to go on her trip.

There's a good review here:

OMG Suzannen! Holy horrific for him even if it was a huge journalistic opportunity. I remember being on the beach on multiple vacation and finding pieces. I still have a very, very small piece at home, (just so someone from the FBI doesn't read this and want it back) which is morbib I know, but people were out with metal detectors every day looking for this stuff, I just stumbled on it and thought it might be a piece and held onto it. You really have to use your imagination that it would be a piece as its very corroded and it just resembles a very thick metal. A year or so ago I was brave enough to tell someone we know about the piece and show it to them - turns out this friend of mine is Christa's cousin - :earseek: She wasn't upset about me having the piece nor with me showing it to her. (I can't be sure it really is a piece anyways). She said that they really like it when people show how much they were moved by the accident and are awed by the fact that it looms so large still in everyone's mind, a country typically prone to short memories.

Fulton's it is.

I liken the Challenger explosion for me to the Kennedy assasination for my mom & dad. I remember where I was & how everything just stopped when the explosion happened. So awful.

:bounce: OOooooo, DHB! Check it out, our driver pulled it off! He said he had connections ;) - with connections like those, we may have to permanently steal him from the EWP Group.

So everything I read about this is that it is extremely rare to find it, its a limited edition, and is awesome! Great  I am sure never to find it and will continually wonder about its taste.

What a small world that the person you told was Christa's cousin. And, don't worry your secret's safe with us. If the FBI does come after you, we'll all start a diversion - Ed in a thong streaking by, something like that.

I would love to try one of those Almond Joys in real life - yummy!

OK, llebreknit (my SIL) said they had packs of 6 at Wal-Mart. I went to the Wal-Mart near me....no Pina Colada Almond Joy's to be found. I may have to head up the road to her Wal-Mart & stock up.

I wonder if mine would have them. I really don't like going in there - its not a snob thing, I LOVE their prices - its just that the one near here seems to attract the scourge of the earth to shop there. I always see women hitting their children in there, and no I don't mean spanking, I mean outright hitting and screaming. My skin crawls when I have to go in. Last time I was there, I was in line behind this one woman who wanted to use seventeen coupons on the same item and would not take no for an answer, she started yelling at the cashier, "You wanna go!? You wanna go, come on, I can take you!" Holy crap! I have never seen someone want to beat up a cashier for a coupon misunderstanding! I will go in if it means sightings these rare and ellusive nectar of the Gods.

Ed, thanks for sacrificing to help me  - I thought something like bailing me out of jail would at the very least nudge you to don your thong one last time. But, yeah, I did grab your undies on your last pass by me :o You said it yourself, who could resist?

CG...have you been in the one in Westborough? It's exactly as you described!!! Man, it's yucky. BTW, I loved your photos. Where do you find them?? And Pina Colada Almond Joys...well, that might be enough to tempt me into a 'gasp' Wal-Mart.

So, it's on to Fultons. I've never been but I'll bet my dh would love it. He really loves seafood. Me, it's not my thing but I'm sure I'll find something I can eat. We're off, like a herd of turtles, thundering across the desert, in a cloud of smoke. Here we come Fulton's!!!

Castlegazer, I hate Wal-Mart!!!! I was at the end of my rope. No Pina Colada Almond Joys to be found anywhere. Stupid llebrekniT. She's like a drug dealer. Here, try one, no charge. Now I am going nuts needing another. Anyway, DH works for a major beverage company & he refuses to go into Wal-Mart if he's not working. He says they treat their vendors awful, not to mention how they treat their employees. One time DH was there & he saw who he calls the "mullet family". Yep! Mom, dad & little billy all had mullets. nice. Ed, I don't mean to offend you. Your mullet looks cool, I promise.

:rotfl:  Oh that's funny!

Tink, I spend WAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too much time google searching for images. I try to be careful to use only non copyrighted ones. I had a bunch of NASA's up earlier, like the map of the center, and images of their IMAX's, until I read their extremely frightening and disturbing copyright protection disclaimer. YIKES! :earseek:

Oh by the way, nope, its the one, ready for it, in Natick - can you believe that!!!!???? Yuppie central.

I really need to get some work done, but I am reading this Lease that seems to be growing by the minute: i.e. its boring as all heck. Everyone is on vacation this week and I seem to be slacking. But I mean to get a lot done while its quiet - its just fun to desk vacation with you all.

OK, I am relinquishing tour guide duties today, where are we off to now?

Ok, since there are no planned activities today, I can be found here:

volcanopool1.jpg

or here depending on my mood which is a little dour right now. Don't tell me its time to cast off for lands unknown once again!!!???? I guess there are worse things in life than to have to go back to our cruise ship. We'll have to wait and see what our fearless and vacationing captain wants to do.
