Trader Sam Haunted Mansion Tiki Cup Lookout

The October 12th date is full. How bad have the lines been?

Yeah the event got sold out within a couple of minutes when food and wine events open. There was 30-45 people by 2pm when we left the event. Trader Sam's opens at 4pm. If the mugs are still available and you are willing to wait outside a couple of hours I think you have a good chance in getting one.

It depends how bad you want it. I personally wouldn't waste my vacation time to get a mug. If they wouldn't have offer to us in the event I would either purchase on eBay or gone without.

Somthe event is a wine and cheese thing? Does it go by the 180 day rule fir dining?

The event is part of the food and wine festival so it is only happening during that time. The reservations were open when all food and wine events opened which was sometime in July. The reservations opened different dates depending if you had something to qualify you for the pre-sale (DVC, Disney visa, etc).

Not all events of the food and wine festival is wine and cheese. The event was a different pairings of food with drinks (no cheese or wine). It was the first year of this event no one knows if it will be back.

I don't think that have run out of mugs yet because they are limiting I believe to 200 per day.
We got one yesterday. The were limiting them to 200 per day. You have to stand in line to get a wrist band. They begin passing them out at 4. People were in line by 8am. However, my DH went around 3:15 and just barely made the cut.

So everyone that is considering doing stand by wait might want to avoid the 12th since the people in the event will have priority on the mugs making less than 200.

Holy cow that is just craziness! I can't believe people spent an entire day in line!

So, is there a separate line for those who want to go for a drink starting at 4 PM? There is no event during my stay, or I would have registered immediately when the event opened for reservations. I still want to go to Trader Sam's for a drink and snack, and the other collectible drink glasses. The days I'm planning to go, we have dinner reservations around 6:30 PM so I'd like to be at TS by 3:30 or 4 PM to get in at 4 PM. I'm not willing to wait all day for the HM mug, though I can understand the desire to get one!

I've been to TS at DLR but keep missing it at WDW!

Not only waiting in line but in the heat! Seriously not being in the heat is well worth paying eBay prices.

I am pretty sure the line is just for people that want the mug and there is probably another line for people that actually want to go in. Maybe @2DisPrincesses can answer this better.

That's a great question - I sincerely hope there is a separate line for those who want snacks/drinks. We were planning on doing that at least a few nights while we're there.

It didn't sound like the pagers were being handed out to the mug folks - someone mentioned wrist bands upthread.

Agreed! Soooo glad I pulled the trigger on eBay mugs this am.

There was not a separate line on Saturday. We were given the wristband and our name was put on a list and we were told to come back at 5:30 for a pager. We went back at 5:30 and were told to get in line again to get in. They were not using the list or pagers for anyone. Security had been called as there were some really angry people. Hopefully they will get their system straight quickly. It was a huge mess!

So they did let you buy a mug at the event? (I was quite annoyed they were not available at the event I was at - other than to use.)

That is about 45 people Id guess.
They can only seat 51 - and they use the surfboard for the presentation so that blocks those seats out - so still 150 or so available.

Sounds like there will be many available on ebay in a few weeks - should be interesting how that changes the prices - what are we seeing them go for currently?
Not the listed price - but what are they actually selling for?
I see many of the ones you can walk in and buy any day for sale for crazy (IMO) prices on ebay.

Yes we were able to buy some at the event as I wrote in my pp. Not everyone bought one. I haven't checked eBay because I already have the glass but I think pp is said it was going for $200.

I hardly doubt the prices will go down as the amounts are limited. That is what I saw with the jack mug from years past. Once they are sold out prices went up.

Thanks - I did not catch that in your post - I'd guess they will be available for sale at all the Trader Sams events since they use it for one of the drinks - the disadvantage of going to the first one I guess.
I assume they gave you the zombie head one as part of the event as well.

I did a quick look and the price is about 150 for "buy it now" - I do see one listed at 125 - but the shipping is 25 as well.
Several are on the start of an auction at around 100 - will be interested to see how that finishes.

I think over the next two weeks is probably the best chance to get one reasonably from those that want to turn them quickly at a quick profit.
At 100 I can see value since I did not have to wait in line for it - and my time is worth a lot more than that - especially when im on vacation

Yeah the zombie was the one they gave us for the event. I think only the October events are going to be given the choice to purchase the mug, but I guess we will be able to confirm that comes the 12th.

I just wanted to add they also gave us some cool drink swizzles, but I think this was more because DH keep going along with staff jokes. Our table mate didn't get any.

I think I can easily live without the mug. I'd rather have my vacation time that I paid so dearly for rather than a mug I most likely will never use again, and will only touch to dust around.

I will be in WDW the last week of October and am not scheduled for the behind the scenes event. I just enjoyed going to Trader Sam's and would like to go this visit and would love getting one of the Hitchhiking mugs. What do you think my chances are If I went on a Monday afternoon at about 4? Do they serve them if I'm seated on the patio? Is the behind the scenes event on every day? Sorry about all the questions.

If you go at 4 assuming they still have them in stock I say very low people line up for the mug starting 8-10 am. The last behind the scenes event took place today.

Here now. I got my mug! They hand out wristbands starting at 3:00. You can come back at any time before they close to get your mug for $30 as long as you have your wristband. When we left Trader Sams around 5:00, they still had not passed out all 200 wristbands. They do not sell the mugs at the outside bar. Rumor has it that they are trying to make it all the way to Halloween with the mugs. During the hurricane they sold more than 200 mugs a day since people were trapped in the resort.
