Almost pointless to create something with such demand and then make so few that the only people making money are on ebay
Weird isn't it? Disney cranks out merchandise by the boatload and they run through stock so fast that it lasts only a short period of time? HM merch is so popular they've devoted a complete shop for it at WDW, how can they not realize this would be a hot item?
BLOWS MY MIND how often they ignore the obvious that would be cash cows with virtually zero effort. Like the mule mugs at Skipper Canteen. DS, DSF and myself got the VERY last ones. We asked for another and they told us. Then later - never to stock again. WHY? Then things like this HM Mug, they could sell them nonstop year round and for the price of those drinks, be rolling in it. SMH

My guess is--and it's strictly a guess, that Disney wants to concentrate on items they turnover in the hundreds of thousands, or millions. Things like plush Mickeys, Mouse ears, t-shirts, etc. So when someone from merchandising (or whatever department is responsible)presents the idea of the mule mug & says "We think we can move 50,000 of these in 4th quarter" the execs barely stifle a yawn.
What's wrong with that idea is: Then why do they bother at all? I guess you could say the things like the mule mugs and the tiki HM mugs provide short-term promotion for the venues they are created for. They could possibly have a separate line item in the budget for those which isn't as generous as the merch than sells by the truckload on a daily basis. Ya got me, and the Scrooge McDuck pic is perfect.![]()
The Parks Blog indicated (in response to one of the comments) that DLR would get getting a restock "closer to Halloween", but it didn't say when or how many.Word is they will be at WDW but no date provided. Disneyland has stated there will be no stock refills.

I bet this mugs were supposed to be the mugs for the behind the scenes at Trader Sam's event, but they didn't get the shipment on time. It sounds an awful lot like the DLR version. Here I am hoping they have them next week.

Yeah - I was kind of hoping for that - but they just gave the zombie head one...probably the one I was personally least interested in.Yeah but they weren't the keepsake mugs.
Heard they are sold out in Disneyland as of Friday night, and on ebay they are pricey.
Agreed...but as long as people are willing to pay exorbitant prices for these things it wont change. No doubt ebay is a huge factor in its selling out so quickly. I tried calling to see if they'd gotten more, and the dining rep said people were going back through the line again and again to circumvent the two-per-person rule. So sad! We we ready to drive all the way down to Anaheim just to get one, but they're gone, and I don't like that part of the reason they're gone is due to greed and manipulation.
