I'm really hoping we hear something soon...rain has started here and wind is really picking up. Forecasters are saying if we lose power it could be a week to 10 days before we get it back. I'm going to stay positive and go with "no news is good news"...lol...Good luck everyone and to all my fellow east coasters please be safe!!

Good luck! Be safe! If emails come out we will do a head count here and make sure everyone was able to access their email. If not, we will make sure Laura knows we have people unaccounted for. Don't worry about that part at all.

We are getting decent rain here in MD, but the strong winds aren't supposed to start until later today. We have power as of now. Here's hoping we don't lose it at all!

I am nervous though, because if we do lose power I have no way of checking email! Maybe I'll have to call my mom in CA and have her check for me!

I hate not knowing what is going on with our house at home. I have been in contact with our neighbor but no one has a key so it's not like we will know of anything is leaking (not like we could do anything!). Thankfully our roof is new so that should be nice and stable. We do have 3 huge trees that are around our house, I just pray if they fall its on my house that is unoccupied vs my neighbors where they are home.

I just saw on the News that parts of Long Island are being evacuated. I know BaseballMickey is there... Anyone else? I hope everyone checks in periodically!!!

My office is across from Lake Ontario (east of Toronto) and I have never seen waves like I'm seeing this morning. It rivals the Banzai Pipeline on the north shore of Oahu!

Good Morning gang!!!!!! What a crazy day this is going to be!!! I've been watching the news all morning, you guys on the east coast better check in with us from time to time because I'm worried about you all! Sandy is going to be a real mess. They are even predicting 25 foot waves on Lake Michigan (about an hour from my house) which seems CRAZY!!!! DH was originally supposed to be in VA this week on business, but luckily he didn't try to go. My MIL is stuck in WDW, she was supposed to fly back to MA yesterday but the flights are canceled. Everybody batten down the hatches and stay safe. They are saying we might even lose power here due to the high winds!

I'm about a mile from lake Michigan in Chicago. Could be interesting at the lakefront. But nothing compared to the east coast. Stay safe all!!

So I had to break out the new Tinkerbell movie in honor of this special hurricane! I guess I'll find more movies for Christmas. The rain has been going all night, but strong winds haven't started yet. You can feel it coming though. I really feel for those further north! I hope everyone's homes are safe and can weather the storm!

Hi All! I live in Connecticut and the Governor is shutting us down at 1pm. My company closed down offices last night across the entire east coast and school is canceled only for today (so far - my town likes to keep us on our toes and cancel at the last minute). Considering we lost power for two weeks last year (Irene and whatever the Halloween storm was called) - we aren't taking any chances. I drove home from the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC yesterday and the New Jersey Turnpike was a ghost town and there were only 2 cars at the toll booth at the GW Bridge (which I have NEVER SEEN in my 41 years)!! I would love to see an email for Round 3 so we could work on our answers during the storm, but I'll make do! Stay safe! Prayers to all - especially those who posted about their families - you all post so fast it's sometimes hard to keep up!!

It was a long weekend, not only waiting for that magical email, but our youngest was in the ER with a very nasty bout of Croup and is now on steroids and hoping that will help him feel better very soon.....so that email would work wonders for this momma right about now (well, a magical one anyway)!
