Hunkered down here on Long Island. I'm nervous that the round 3 info will go out this week and I'll have no access to my email. We still have power now, but we heard the outside electrical breaker making loud popping noises already. It's hard to believe that the heart of the storm is still so far away.

These message boards will move even faster than normal ~ and they already move too quickly for me ~ and I do not want to miss anyone!

Like I said, these boards move fast, and if anyone wants to come out of "lurkdom" or "the woodworks" it is definitely not too late to be added to our Round 2 list. Please, PM me & I will add you on ASAP.

My plan today was to completely stay away from my email, but, of course, I realized that I had a bunch of emails to send today. Lovely.

Oh well.

I'm trying to get stuff done at work before I leave for WDW, but there really isn't anything I can do until I get back or on Thursday right before I leave.

Keeping my fingers crossed for some today, but I have a feeling it's not going to be coming for a while.

Something a little off topic...


Have any of you read the experiences some people had yesterday on the Fantasy Cruise? Apparently the ship was trying to follow the end of Sandy until it slowed down and they were caught in it. Furniture, glass, etc was flying all over the place, people were rolling out of their beds, the pool water ended up in the elevators... I can't imagine!!! Now I'm terrified because we have our next cruise on the Fantasy booked for the first week in September next year which is peak hurricane season. I planned on purchasing travel insurance and thought the worst that would happen is that our ports or schedule might change. Boy, was I wrong!! I don't want to put my kids or myself through something so horrific. I want to change the dates but anything before June is SO expensive!! What would you guys do?

Well, I would hope this would be a lesson learned, and they would not attempt to follow as closely to a future storm as they did this time.

I just saw on the News that parts of Long Island are being evacuated. I know BaseballMickey is there... Anyone else? I hope everyone checks in periodically!!!

We're still at home. We are not in the evacuation area. There is already a lot of flooding of roads in our town that are closer to the water. Thankfully, we live just outside of the flood zone. (and I mean "just", the house across the street from us is technically in the flood zone for a cat 4 hurricane surge)

wind has picked up a bit in the last hour. Some really powerful gusts now. lights have flickered here and there, but we still have power.
