TKers Take the Fifth!

It looks like Racer is invisible tonight. I guess she's in hiding with #18. You could not even read the side of his car before he blew an engine Sat night---he had hit the wall so much! And no, no one pushed him there either! HA! I could almost feel sorry for him...but almost doesn't count! :lmao:

I saw Dale Jr's car at Hershey today. There was a Harvick car in Chocolate World too. Don't know how long they will be there. Chevy is a sponsor at the Park.

DS11 is really into Harry Potter so I thought he might like LOTR. I bought all 3 books for 75 cents at a bookfair. He couldn't even make it through the first paragraph of the first book before putting it aside. I'll keep them for when he's older and see how he likes them then.

I can't believe how slow the DIS can be sometimes. I get so cranky when that happens! It's not just the DIS that's slow though. I've been trying to get my local news station's sight to open up and all it does is give me a white screen with a "done" at the bottem. It's totally P-ing me off! Even worse our local paper just went bankrupt so no local news! This paper covered all the high school sports and other happenings for 5 towns. Now where do I get my news from?

OMG is it slow! I've forgotten what I wanted to say! I'll do my best...

The kids are off to camp. DS seemed pretty enthusiastic, and was all ready when it came time to say goodbye. DD was greeted like returning royalty by friends and counselors from last summer. Even the camp director was happy to see her. She is having a blast, no doubt about it. Hope DS is too...

Well, 90% of the stuff is cleared out of DS's room. Have to unmake the beds and pull up the rug, but that's about it. Painters come Friday. His room is a rectangle. The 2 shorter walls (one of which has the double closet doors on it) will be Mets blue (similar to royal blue). The 2 longer walls will be grey. The 3 shelves on the walls that hold his LEGOs will be bright orange (if that sounds weird, look at a NY Mets logo!) The furniture leaves Tuesday and then I can clean the floors. His room is gonna look SO much bigger without the bunk beds! I just hope the new furniture gets here before he does!

I drove 302 miles today. All the way up to MK's neck of the woods, and then back again. At least my BFF came along for the ride, so it went faster than if I was alone on the way back. Fortunately, I love to drive.

MK, you need to slap that BF upside the head! I can't believe he called at that time! Men are just hopeless...

As far as the 10 books go, I'm halfway there--
Bible YUP
Gone With the Wind YUP
Harry Potter-don't know which one they wanted but mayby all? NOPE
Lord of the Rings NOPE
The Stand (S. King) NOPE--I HATE scary stories!
DaVinci Code YUP
To Kill a Mockingbird YUP
Angels & Demons NOPE
Atlas Shrugged (don't know this one) NOPE, never heard of it
Carcher In the Rye YUP

I've decided to clean the house while the kids are gone. I mean REALLY clean it. I will start tomorrow with their bathroom, which is just gross. Clean out the medicine chests, the drawers, the countertop, everything. Then comes the kitchen/family room, which is mostly my mess. The guest room is 3rd, followed by the dining room and the kids' playroom. If I have time, I may do DD's room too, especially her closet, which is a disaster area. DS's room obviously will be squeaky clean since everything will be all new. But I may have to go through his closet too... At least my room and my office are in good shape!

Well, I'm off to email DS so he gets mail tomorrow. I have to send him a package with glasses cleaner wipes and a belt--forgot to pack those.

M&N....where'd you get the book list? I've read them all with the exception of The Stand. I tried to read King so many times, but so far I've only managed to get through the Green Mile. Its that scary stuff again.

I don't think both The DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons should be on the same list.

I'm working on my own stuck-on-an-island-what-book-will-you-bring? So far:
Little Women, Pride and Prejudice, The Giving Tree, the Poisonwood Bible, and Bridget Jones' Diary (British version, have to lighten the mood). I need five more....

:yay: Hi Wendy! You were on the road up near me...it was terrible today! Glad to hear the kids are off to camp and excited to be there. Please, if ever goodness forbid, you need someone to go get them quick, remember I'm already up here....

Does DS know he's getting a new room? DD's room turned out gorgeous, its going to look so nice.

I cleaned tonight also. When I'm upset, its either clean or bake. Since I don't have a lot of milk, cleaning it was. I'm still not ready to talk to BF, but I like to adhere to the "not going to bed angry" rule. Its going to be hard to swallow my pride, but I suppose I could just act a little....

Oh, Atlas Shrugged is by Ayn Rand. Its always ranked up there in the greatest book ever, but I just didn't get it. Oh, I have to add the Great Gatsby to my list....I'll also add Jurassic Park for fun.

.

By terrible I assume you mean the traffic (since the weather was gorgeous!). Yes, it was a parking lot part of the way, and there was no rhyme or reason to it. Stop, crawl, and then go go go all of a sudden, with nothing in sight that could have caused it. We did see ALOT of Orthodox Jews driving up there. Guess it will be quieter when I go back since it will be a Saturday! Thanks so much for your offer. Hopefully I never need to take you up on it!

DS has no clue about his room. His birthday isn't until February, and he thinks we will do it in January or February. I just figure it's easier to do it when he isn't here, since there will be a period of time when there is no furniture in the room. Hopefully it will get here in time, or he's gonna come home to a mattress on the floor!:lmao: I will take pictures when it's all done. Hopefully it will look as good in reality as it does in my mind! I did paint a small sample area of the blue, and it is the perfect color! Just hope the grey looks as good.

I am not going to put up all his Mets posters and pennants and stuff--he can decide where he wants stuff. I will put up his lifesize David Wright, since I know where he wants that, and I'll put some of the stuff up on his shelves. But for the most part I want him to be able to do his room his way. I just wonder if he will still want his old stuff up there. Most of it has come down, but he has a cross stitch adoption announcement that I made when he came home, and also a print of the Wayne Watson song "A Place For You" that I listened to every day while we were waiting to go get him. They have always been on his wall. Laura still has her stuff up--a cross stitch and an adoption poem. But they aren't exactly Mets material! Guess we'll wait and see. I have no idea what to do with them if he doesn't want them up.

OK, I have a major crisis. I have promised myself that tomorrow I will a) go back to eating the way I'm supposed to and b) go back to the gym. The problem is that there is a York Peppermint Patty sitting on my counter. I just ate one, and I don't want another. So, do I a) leave it there and pretend it isn't staring at me and calling my name, b) stick it in the fridge or freezer and do the same, or c) throw it away (sacrilige!!) If my sister wasn't on her way to St. Lucia, I would just give it to her, but that is not an option. Help!!!! I really need to get back on track or my clothes for Scotland won't fit and I won't be able to walk up the Royal Mile. Not that 10 days at the gym is gonna make a huge difference...but it's a step in the right direction.

Tell the Peppermint Patty that you're going to take him to a family reunion next weekend and put him in the freezer. I wouldn't be so cruel as to suggest throwing him away....you never know when you'll have a chocolate emergency!

Yes, my area is full of bungalow colonies. Why do you think I do my grocery shopping on Friday nights? The camps are just crazy around here. They take the buses to the shopping areas and just let all the kids loose! Between the camps, the colonies, and the snowbirds, my population triples in the summer! Its definitely something to get used to....

At least drive to the gym. Wave and turn around if need be, but I bet once you're there, you'll think, just ten minutes, and before you know it, you'll have gotten a great workout!

I guess I need to get mad at someone to get cleaning. I get in the mood for maybe 15 min and then get distracted. :rotfl:

I got the book list from AOL news thing they put up on the welcome page. I didn't really check who made it up. I just cannot be bothered to read complicated novels anymore. Real life has enough stress and complications. I like to escape from it all through books.

I think Patty needs to be frozen in case of emergency. If she's not there and you have a craving, you'll just blow it worse. Just tell her not to call too soon.

I need to get back to exercising too. Having other things to do has gotten me out of the habit too. I was trying to tell myself that I could only go maybe 3 times this week and it wasn't worth paying for that...but it is. I'm really supposed to do some sort of exercise 5 times a week so I'm going to go---I guess it beats cleaning! I'll have to go to Mom's in the afternoon because I have a class tomorrow night.

Whgrn--if your ds doesn't hang the 2 things you mentioned, just box them up for him. It's definitely something he should want later. His room does sound like it'll be very special for him.

OK---10 hours passed and no posts...I guess I killed us!

Anyway we won't die I guess as long as I keep posting to myself! :rotfl2:

And everyone knows how I like to rack up the post count!

Unfortunately, I do have other things to do---like go to the fitness center...

I just got here! Good morning, lovely ladies! How are you this fine morning?

I'll save you...I'll save you.

Morning M - How are things?

HI! I'm not alone! Things are a little slow around here...posting isn't going too fast for me. Last night I could hardly get it posted. It was taking 2 min to load the reply screen.

How's it up north?

WOW! TKers are popping up out of no where!

I'm just a little crazy this am but that's not really new. Just trying to procrastinate a little. Are you packed yet? I have my list of things I need to do before Sat!

I am so not packed yet. More concerned in getting all the foodstuffs ready. My list is growing though.

What's the weather supposed to be like this weekend? Shorts weather, I hope?

I have been consulting the various map sites and I think I'm just going to wing it through small town America. I have a silly question, what county is Hershey in? I keep seeing all these commercials "county this, county that" and I can't get excited coz I don't know what county I'm visiting!

I think Hershey is in Dauphin County. It's Derry Township. I'm right over the line in Lancaster County. I have a little map showing Amish stuff in Lancaster Co. The main Amish area is only about 45 min from Hershey or Harrisburg. There are Amish farms near me. It's not as much to see as it is around Bird-In-Hand, Strasburg, and Intercourse though.
