A friend of mine is working for a resturant company as a manager, not a general manager, just a manager. Anyway they wanted to relocate him to Nebraska. They're paying to move him & all, but it looks like he's going to be up there for some time & he accepted & went up there a few days ago.
I was discussing this with another friend & I said that I couldn't do it because it was so far from family, it's not really a big city & the winters would drive me insane. The friend said it wouldn't bother him at all & he likes the cold (he complained about Orlando being too humid from his trip a week ago). He said if money wasn't an issue, he'd love to live in CO. I said from what I've seen it looks nice...during the summer, winter is another story. I couldn't live in a snowbelt state. There are areas (mountains) in CA that get snow, but you drive to it, it doesn't show up on your front porch & you don't have to shovel out your car & drive way every morning. I said that if money wasn't an issue I'd be happy living the rest of my life on a tropical beach in Key West or the Bahamas. He said he'd hate it.
I told him that if a company told me that I had to move to an area in the NE or the snowbelt, even if it came with a pay raise, I'd strongly consider quiting or taking a cut in pay to stay where I was.
What about you guys? Is there an area of the country or a climate on the planet that you absolutely could not deal with?
