Head vs heart resale

OP -- when do you typically travel and what kind of rooms do you want to book at Beach Club?
We have a lot of flexibility on travel time although would really like to take my sister in law and kids before Christmas 2026, so that would mean a 2 bed villa for that trip.

People keep saying to rent points, but staying for 10-14 nights, the reality of making that work for renting seems like a nightmare. Happy for someone to tell me that’s wrong though.

UK guests do get good offers for accom, but deluxes are still £5-6000 at quieter times (not renting), much more for busier periods. Even if we didn’t go every year I still buying dvc would break even well before the 17 are up.

All of this is what I have been wrangling with for weeks. We love BCV but I know ‘logically’ CCV is correct.

well, i'm just thinking that if you have flexibility, and since you're not renting studios, it should be much easier for you to use resale points from CCV and grab a Beach Club reservation. It becomes difficult if you want to try to do this during peak times.

I've rented for 12 nights, 6 from one owner and 6 from another. Same resort and same room category and had each owner note there was a second reservation. I also mentioned it at check in and it has never been an issue. Haven't had to move rooms. Was quite easy, I let someone else deal with the hassle of booking for me. But I can see where someone would not want to do that. If you want a trip during the Christmas season in a 2BR, you will need to own at Crescent Lake or CCV and book right at 11 months - especially if you want two weeks. That may be quite difficult, even as an owner. And again, as an owner, you can only book 7 nights at one time, you will have to add each night on each day until you get to the length of stay you want. It can be quite competitive, depending on the resort, room type, and time of year. If it's mid to end of August, it will be easier. The less "expensive" rooms, like value and standard, tend to be the most difficulty, and 1BR's are probably the easiest at most resorts due to the points value proposition versus a studio or 2BR. Personally, I love CCV even though the rooms are small (converted hotel rooms). Maybe do a split stay sometime before deciding?

I'd suggest going with the heart. Because if you go with Copper Creek, sounds like you'll STILL always want to be at Crescent Lake (and likely always having an eye out for a steal of a deal for either BWV or BCV). If you buy Crescent Lake, would you still consider Copper Creek (or anywhere else, for that matter)? Plus, you're traveling a long distance so I wouldn't want to settle for anything less than where you truly want to stay. :-)

For the 2042's and 8 trips going every other year, I wouldn't be buying DVC at all. I agree with the above posters, just rent or book the UK deals.

At least with Copper Creek if you decided to stop visiting you could sell the contract and recoup some money. If you still enjoyed WDW, you'd have decades remaining and already paid!

100% go with your head here if you're going to buy into DVC.

If you’ve got some spare cash burning a hole in your pocket… buy a crescent lake resort! I’m a UK owner and have found great value in my BCV and BWV contracts. Yes my original plan when I started this journey 2 years ago was a big trip once a year or every other year. Fast forward to today, and I have 3 separate trips lined up over the next 10 months, along with an annual pass. It definitely doesn’t save money but it’s great fun!
