9 to 10 hours most nights now that I am retired.
6 was the norm on a GOOD night when I was working.
My wife made it through the first month of retirement without using an alarm clock. Now most mornings she sets an alarm for 630 am to do exercises, I usually stay in bed until 8 am.

Now that I'm retired and can sleep as long as I want, I have a hard time sleeping. I fight to get 7 hours/night--it's usually more like 6-6.5.

My sleep doc said that's fine, because we don't need as much sleep as we get older. Thanks, Doc....

I usually get 8-9 hours of sleep, because like Kitty I’m retired. On those nights I do feel rested when I wake up. Some nights only 4-5 hours as I just toss and turn, can’t stay asleep. So on those nights I do not feel rested. I usually go to bed about 8:00, watch TV on my iPad or a movie on Prime or Netflix, or read. Go to sleep about 11:00, usually awake by 7-8.

:faint: I count myself blessed to be a "good sleeper"; I fall asleep easily practically anywhere and sleep very soundly most nights. On the down-side; my internal clock is carved in stone. I'm a 12:00 am to 6:00 am sleeper. Staying up later is hard and sleeping in longer is basically impossible. I do think I'd do better with another hour or two per night but I make up the deficits with weekend naps - I can easily nap 3 or 4 hours if I have the chance.

My sleep varies and more now with health issues. I needed naps this past year sleeping over 8 hours. I have been less tired since taking vitamin B12 injections and my body is doing better slowly with the medicines to help my Diabetes Type 2.

This is a tricky question for me because averages are so deceptive. I'd say I aim for 8 hours, but don't always get it. (I can't seem to just "sleep in" if I've been up late.)

I definitely need more sleep if I've "peopled" a lot, so sometimes I feel refreshed and sometimes not.

I also tend to wake up briefly for bathroom trips, so even if I go to bed with the chance of an 8-hour window, it's not in one solid piece.

I expect under perfect circumstances, my natural sleep cycle would be about 7 hours.

I try to get the full 8, but I usually get about six good hours. I wake up a couple of times during the night, but I usually feel rested once I've had my shower and gotten my coffee.
