There isn't any Disney Magic in this process!!

Well that's bovine feces. I had heard about that change but when I looked on Disney's website, it said that the 22nd, MK closes at 11:00. And a floating window for booking FP+ is an absolutely stupid idea.

If your window opens on 2/22, it's the park hours on 2/21 that matter. On 2/21, MK closes at 1:00a (actually early 2/22) and that determines your FP booking window time. The "Disney day" won't start until 1:00a.

Well as sad as that may be, Disney is right to not avoid progress just because some guests prefer outdated paper printed tickets to computers.
For what it's worth, I don't care if they use the computer or printed ticket. If they had kept teh FP system as it was but used Magic Bands rather than printed tickets, I would have been fine with that. Likewise, if they had changed to FP+ but used printed out paper tickets to tell you when to return but you still booked 60 days in advance, I'd still think it was a pain in the Astro Orbiter. It's not the technology that I greatly dislike - it's the insane amount of planning and fact that I lack the clairvoyance that is apparently necessary to know what my family will want to do and when 60+days in advance. That and the fact that I am getting significantly less done now than I did 2-3 years ago.

It technically opens on 2/23. It will be 2/22 for me, though, because I am an hour behind. It's supposed to open at 12:00am EST on the 23rd.

I agree, but when my daughter got to meet Elsa and Anna in Sept...all of a sudden that late night was SO magical and worth it...I am excited to make them for November!!!! Hope you got what you wanted@!

Ah, we're confusing the boundary condition. Midnight Sunday is what I remember reading earlier--that is technically Saturday night/Sunday morning. Looks like you're good at 11:00p CT the following evening.

So, wait...

Is it midnight or 1 am?

What would cause it not to open at midnight?

Maybe you needed to hold Shift when you refreshed (to clear your cache), and it would have been fine at midnight>

For years, complaints on these forums used to stem from not being able to get an FP for a particular attraction within hours or even minutes of arriving at the park.

Now, complaints are about not being able to get an FP for a particular attraction within 60 days of arriving at the park.

I'm still trying to get my head around how that's an improvement.

.
Other than astutely pointing out that there will ALWAYS be complaints, I'm not sure I get your point.

Person A likes, from a subjective, personal perspective, the old way better. Person B, from an equally subjective, personal perspective, likes the new way better. Who's to say who is 'right', especially if people are only concerned with their own vacation, and don't care whether either system provides any kind of improvement overall in the ability of the wider park going audience to be able to experience things?

That's my fault. I was thinking Sunday because at 11:00 on Sunday, I will be up trying to book. I appreciate you looking out for me and what appeared to be a mistake.

Perhaps. Which would be a good thing for everyone. Given the consistent stand by lines, though, and that their fp+ are still consistently gone not long after booking windows open (8 hrs after the booking window opens is an improvement, sure..but enough to say their popularity is waning?), I would lean towards popularity waning not being the major factor.

I'm suggesting that their popularity is waning based on many recent reports that fellow disser's are sharing. I don't know how many times I've read lately something like "just checked MDE, and there are multiple time slots open for A&E less than 30 days out" or "visited A&E during FoF and only waited 20 minutes". I'm thinking that in the not too distant future, this particular "bone" the FP+ opponents have been "picking" will be a thing of the past.

Don't forget the secret handshake. ;)

It's 1 AM on nights the MK closes after midnight I believe. Check the link in Mesa's signature.

I'd like to point out that while I did eventually get all the fast passes I wanted and pretty much the times I wanted, I didn't enjoy the experience of doing it one little bit. I don't think it mattered much that it was 1 o'clock in the morning or if it would have been 1 p.m. In the afternoon. The entire process felt stressful, like I was taking the SATs. I just didn't enjoy it.

So are you equating getting the right FP with getting into an Ivy League college? ;)

Seriously? Picking a bone, really? I'm not here to pick a bone about anything. I'm here to help others have a good vacation, and to get tips on how to best plan mine. If a&e does, consistently no matter the time of year, have more widespread availability I will be nothing but thrilled for everyone.

All this talk about where to put the girls. I think a bigger (ehh, maybe) issue is have you seen some of Elsa's friends? You may feel you can't just slap a background of the North Mountain & throw down some fake snow in the old Odyssey building & make it feel right... equally, you can't just slap a dress & that horrible wig on any girl & call her a friend of Elsa's.

I like the new process. You can choose if you want to book things way in advance, and you reserve what you want for each park. I am also a night owl and don;t mind staying up late for ADRs and FP+. I also love the entire planning process of Disney. It is very exciting and, frankly, I find it very fun! Seeing your plans on MDE puts a smile on my face and I cannot wait until my group and I are living in those plans! :)
