What Finally Got Me to Decide to Buy Direct

15
I just overdid it a bit when we first joined DVC 😬
Oops.

They’ll come back around (or be disinherited)

Yeah, I think a lot of teens think they are "too cool" for Disney parks. But hopefully they get over it. I can't remember...how many years have you had DVC now? We are only a couple years in about to start "overdoing" it by going every 6 months instead of spacing things out more. So we'll see if our son gets sick of it or not.

So, OP, was the ability to stay at the cabins truly the tipping point for you when it came to deciding on direct?

We're still not sure between VDH direct or more VGC resale.

But I think I would enjoy an occasional stay in the cabins and at Lakeside Lodge after it opens. So perhaps that will be our tipping point in the end.

Not as much. I think she likes being there with me and feels comfortable there and does enjoy it. But I could easily see her not going back much if something happened to me.

But I guess she’ll have to because her name is on all the contracts 🤣
Same and same 🤣 She likes the shopping aspect and all the restaurants, but I think could care less about the rides

I worry about something happening to me and her not knowing how to book a reservation or sell

Ok i have more reasonings 🤣

I just dont see what one has to do with the other, other than that they're nearby each other? And why would they be revamping the cfw pool, if cfw people are going to be able to utilize an amazing lsl pool.

They've had resorts that are taking forever to sell out ie aulani so why would they care if lsl does
This is a great point, given the pool situation at Treehouse Villas!

My cousins are sick of it too. They are 12 and 16 and want to go on the crazy coasters. See ya in 10 years 🤣

I definitely have one that thinks he’s too cool, and the other one doesn’t really like to travel anywhere. They’re just at that age. I’ve only been a member since June 2023.

No it was supposed to be a joke which apparently was not funny 🤣🤣

But I guess indirectly because I do feel dumb having that tire cover that I like and not being able to even go 🤣🤣 And im renting vdh next month and im tired of being a renter! I want to be the direct pointslord

My wife would not have a clue!

My husband has only a basic understanding of it. I think he's starting to tune me out when I talk about DVC....even though he loves Disneyland/WDW/VGC/BRV.

I forgot you were a newbie right around when I was! I think my first points went into my account around April 2023.

So basically being able to stay at the restricted resorts was the tipping point then. I think that's valid.

My wife really tries to act like she cares when I tell her about points reallocation and which association lsl might be in, bless her heart

I think actually it was more being irritated with not being ELIGIBLE for things i want to do when im paying thousands of dollars every month. Every time I read that word now I cringe 🤣🤣

Tired of being an ineligible resale pariah.

DVC definitely found a good way to get people to buy direct by restricting the new resorts. Before that, I think 99% of the posts I saw recommended buying resale and never financing.

I'm definitely team direct for anyone who's wants to stay in the restricted resorts. I don't recommend direct for membership extras, but those are nice things to have. They just aren't worth the premium.

I'll visit FW sometime and I'm sure I'll appreciate it. We do enjoy camping. I'm team camping and team 5 star resort and no thank you to almost anything in-between (except DVC). My big fear is that my spouse will love FW and want to stay there all the time. I can see him thinking that he can do stuff there while I'm at MK, haha. Maybe when LSL opens, we can both have what we want.

@Girlstar30 , will you be eligible for current member financing when you buy? Will that make a difference to when you are going to buy?

Yes thats what im waiting for, the member financing and saving more towards it is justifying my purchase 🤣 People complain about waiting for points loading, imagine waiting a whole year 🤣🤣

But I think already owning resale points has calmed the beast. We have gotten to go and do a lot of things, so much so that a bunch of times ive told myself it's not worth it. But every trip we've gone to WDW, there has been something we cant do because we're not direct and that has been frustrating as minimal a thing it is such as being across a lounge and not being able to go or not getting the free ice cream and discounts on welcome home weeks, it just does make you feel like youre not a member.

And yes the restrictions too, I would have loved to try to go for a garden view vdh room for this reservation rented we have coming up and im stuck. We chose to put our money into resale first because the one bedrooms took priority and now the fun stuff is the missing piece. That was our choice so I dont want to complain about the restrictions more than I already am 🤣

I dont want to be on these boards when lsl comes out and the excitement of the lazy river and new rooms and not be able to stay because I'm not renting again, the lack of flexibility has always had me feeling stuck and regretting it.

I know im going to cave sooner or later so mine as well cave when the financing is good and being offered at current rate, the points are the cheapest they'll ever be, and the minimum is still 150 🤣
