That sounds really good!

DS13 took a huge bite & said, "Mom, I think this is the only food we have that we all really like. Nobody ever complains!"

Sad, but true... ;)

Bret's Trippie without an End..... :faint:

Ah....I'm so far behind on that one I'm still reading the updates from August! I think I'm to the 31st and beginning to start the September ones. His pictures are so large it takes so long to load and he updates so fast I can NEVER keep up. :scratchin I think I also pulled some sauce out of the freezer when he metioned the bolonaise in the live update.

:yay: DH and I are Feds. - Which means crappy insurance & no raises or promotions EVER.
Wish we could get the sweet deal the folks in DC get...

agree 100%

I'm one too, and that is why I have started monitoring these boards like crazy looking for cost cutting ways to eat, and pay bills.:confused3

 Hi everyone. Been a busy couple of days. We had a quiet Monday through to Wednesday as DS was on school camp. DH and I even went out for dinner!

WFDT? Poached salmon and salad.

I had an issue very similar to Alison and Fran's last year maybe...

I came home and got food from the freezer, it was not working... I unplugged, plugged back to try and reset it.... Nope didn't work, called the people we bought from and they said to try and leave it for 15 minutes unplugged.

During this time David and I noticed how hot the sides and top of the freezer were. It is a 17 cubic foot stand up freezer, that was currently packed to the gills with food and was thawing quickly!

I had no idea how long it had been out, I had been in it Sunday, but did not remember if it was working then, but the food was solid, now not so much.

well, by this time the 15 minutes was up and no it did not work... The light came on but no cooling was happening there.

I called around to a couple of places and found some dry ice, bought 15 pounds and shoved it in the freezer. This morning everything was frozen.

The company we bought it from called us at 6:30 this morning, they were bringing out a loaner freezer that they had on hand, and they would install and move over all the food, but they had to do it right then.

So 7AM they show up, (I am already on my train) and they move all the food, but it is bigger than the one we had, a newer model and now it was 21 cubic feet, no big deal just move some stuff out of the way.

After they get everything moved, they give a piece of paper to David to sign showing receipt of the freezer and that they are giving us the freezer.... as a replacement, not even trying to fix ours, just give us this one. and it had less than 1 hour of use...

I was happy! a brand new freezer and no food spoilage, and they did all the work.

How cool is that.

End of the week for me! Have a great day off, TruBlu.

Brandi - that's great karma for that freezer. Glad there was no meatpalooza cook-off like what Alison had to do.

WFDT? Home alone, so I made me some comfort food. Mac and Cheese....with added bacon.:thumbsup2

It really was great that we lost nothing and that they were so responsive!

I get my meats every 6months, delivered to my house, I just got my delivery 3 weeks ago... So almost 5 months worth of food was in there!

Holy crow, am I a thread killer or what? LOL!

Not a killer Lindsay :goodvibes

I am hopelessly behind but have caught up on everybody! I am sorry to see that the sore throat thing has hit folks here, I know we have it in my house. It started with my little friends down the street and worked its way to us and now Kady.

Tracy- I just want to say that my cooking lately is abysmal. My friend sent soup and stew to us, it was that bad here.

Brandi- I am so glad you got a new freezer! it is a sad commentary that it is better to replace one than to fix it though. Makes me wonder about the quality of the appliances we all pay good money for. :confused3

Allison- How are you doing? I have been wondering how Fran is feeling and if her wound is healed.

I think the pay situation is terrible all over. My sis IL works for the State and their contract negotiations were pretty fierce this year. She had not gotten a raise in three years. I told her that my DH had gone 6 with only a .25 pay raise and she pretty much said that I was lying. No..............Union or not, there just is no money. This Summer is the first on a few years that all of the guys in my DH company have all been called back before the end of July.

Someone is making raises but so far I have not met any one of those people. I am so tired of these politicians telling us that each one will be the one who saves us.............when they got us into this mess in the first place.

So back to dinner. :confused3 I have a lot of homework to do. My cousin made sauce and meatballs and wants to share, DH loves her cooking so I think we will have spaghetti and meatballs, green salad and garlic bread.

Nancy - Sorry to read that things are still bad from a pay perspective in the US. Hope the homework is going okay.

WFDT? We're doing hamburgers for dinner tonight. Simple to cook; as I get my meat pattie from the Victoria Market. It is sooooo good that I've stopped worrying about making my own from scratch.
DH is out at the supermarket right now and I've asked him to get something for himself that he can eat in hamburger buns. Hope he remembers!
