Thank you for the reply… I have never bought gift cards for a trip. Thought I would ask here as most of the participants are very helpful.
Oh no, sorry for misunderstanding your post that you put DGCs on to your account.
How I Manage Disney Gift Cards
I try to keep two or three physical Disney Gift Cards on hand. When I buy e-gift cards, I load them onto one of my physical cards so I can use it easily at checkout.
I add all my Disney Gift Cards to my
disneygiftcard.com account to track and combine balances — but only if I’m the sole user, since once you combine cards, you can’t undo it. After combining, I transfer the total balance onto one physical card.
To keep things secure, I
delete all cards from my Disney Gift Card profile once I’m done, since accounts can be compromised.
I also take a photo of each physical card and stick a note on it with the balance and date. Example:
You can save the card number in your phone’s Notes app to copy and paste when
mobile ordering — it’ll even show your balance.
If you’re using gift cards for a Disney trip:
- You can stop by the front desk each night to pay off that day’s charges.
- Or, if you’re on a Disney Cruise Line, you can pay at Guest Services the night before disembarking.
- In the past, I’ve also added “credit” to my DCL account through Concierge Services using gift cards.
Finally, I always keep
a few backup physical cards in case one is lost. If that happens, you can transfer the lost card’s funds to a replacement — as long as you have the card information from the photo you took earlier.
Hope that helps!
