Speaking of planning withdrawal, what is the youngest you took your ONLY child.... B/c it's kind of different if you are primarily going for older kids and taking baby along??

I took my oldest when he was 6, almost 7 months to Disneyland. It was great!

We just took our daughter for her first trip and she was 8.5 months old.

Us too. We bought DVC after that trip so we started going more then once a year after that. This past trip was Anna's 10th trip, and Lily's 4th.

The thing Lily liked the best was the new Nemo attractions at the land. They have these seagulls out on the rocks in front that do the whole "Mine, Mine Mine" thing and Lily loved it. She could stand there all day and laugh at it. She does it now all the time, I wonder when it is going to get old. So far still funny, 9 days later. We will see. :rotfl:

Still working on catching up. Just that, what a post office story. Ick, the women at mine always seem to be crabby too. I wonder if it is a job requirement.

Disneyphd - Mine, Mine, Mine is my favorite part of the movie, I'd probably get as much a kick out of it as Lily:rotfl2:

LglBlonde - The first time we took our oldest she was 2 years old. It was a great trip! My baby was 5 weeks old when we first took him and that was challenging but fun as well.

Hi to everyone. I'm off to bed.

Welcome, LglBlonde! We first took our DD to WDW when she was 14 months, and we had a great time. She got her first haircut there.

Lglblonde - We took our youngest when he was a little over 2 years old and that was a fantastic trip. We haven't been to Disney since July 05 and I was close to 7 months pregnant at that point. We're going in April and my oldest will be 6 and the baby will be 18 months old.

DisphD - I'm looking forward to seeing that Nemo attraction - it sounds great.

Have a great day everyone.

J&D - I was hoping to get John's first haircut at Disney during our last trip but I couldn't wait that long. I ended up cutting it a few weeks before we left. Bummer.....

Hillbeans - The new Nemo ride is cute. The Nemo show in AK is cute too! You are going to have a great trip! I love WDW in April.

LglBlonde-We took my daughter at almost 3 months for her first trip and it was great. For us that is cause she was so portable. And not an easy baby at all, but she did great on the trip. We went to DL at 6 months and back to WDW at 9 months and she loved it so I think those are much better ages.

Henry's sick so I won't be around much today.

This past trip I saw a women with 3 month old twins. They were so cute. She was a brave women I thought, but she said they were pretty easy. Boy where they cute. She had older kids too.

Oh, and when I got home my Coldwater Creek order (s) were here. The dresses fit and look great. I love my new boots too. The only thing I am not sure about is the bag, but it was only $3, so I guess I can't complain. Now I just need a good reason to wear them (other then the DCL in May.)

Trip report has started, but I only got one day done so far and it is pretty dry so far (actually it rained the 1st day, but the only time all trip. :thumbsup2 ) http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1322724

I read all I missed, but didn't take notes so I cant' comment on it all. I wanted to say Hi Icebrat and glad Tess is doing better. Day care for only 2 days can be hard to find. If you can afford it you might want to consider more days a week for some consistency and so you can get some homework done. You need a good place though, Tess is not one that is going to need minimal attention. ;) Did you find out anything on head start?

hi all, we have a trip planned for September, Faith will be 1 year old. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and a happy new year.

Hi everyone!

I thought I was going to start work today, however they wouldn't let me. They said it wouldn't be fair to the person sitting in my desk. Oh well, so Monday is my start date. Today was a meeting to go over what hours I'll be doing until I'm officially doing my full time hrs. As it stands I'm doing 5 hrs a day. I felt awkward talking to a few people, however once I'm back in routine it shouldn't be so bad.

Have a great weekend everyone! The snow we got the other day is gone already. It's 6 degrees here today or about 45 your temp.(I think) It supposed to get colder again over the weekend.

Here's some new photos!

I just wanted to say that if you look hard enough you can sometimes find part-time daycare. Dd only goes to daycare 2 days a week and I only have to pay for those 2 days and not a penny more, which has been a lifesaver! Most places don't allow it but every now and then you will find one that will work with you. You usually have to ask though as I know they didn't just volunteer that information to me. She will be going everyday starting in August though and then I will be paying the full amount. I still manage to get all of my homework done too (and I do have tons usually) but I do it after she goes to bed or dh watches her so I can get it done. It can be done if you make some compromises. As far as needing to go every day for the consistency, I think that depends on the kid. Dd adjusted rather easily but I know some kids that did need more time so it just depends.

What exactly is the Nemo ride like btw? Sounds intriguing!

Anna went part time too (when I was working part time.) She went 2 days a week, I paid $35 a day, and didn't pay for days I didn't take her (like sick days.) It was an in home day care and the provider was very flexible with us (I loved her.) If I go back to work I will check and see if she has opening before looking any other place. As a rule though she didn't do that. She was a friend of a women who I used to be here kids preschool teacher years ago. Most other places (and centers) only took part time if there was another person to share the week with (you went T,TH, the other person M, W, F) You also had to find the person to share yourself. This is true at the center I used to teach at before having kids. I also had a number of children who were part time (3 and up they let you go with out sharing, as long as there were opening.) Some kids are used to it fast, others going part time was hard for them since the other kids were there every day. It really depends on the child and situation. It doesn't hurt to look around and ask, after all the women who did our child care didn't normally do what she did for us. Just with Tess's back ground consistency is key for her. In fact I would ask about the turn over rate for employees and if they keep the same staff with the same kids instead of bounce them around.

Oh Icebrat, I forget to say, it does sound like Tess is ready to potty learn. She just needs some motivation. Jelly bellies made a world of difference for Lily she had no interest until I offered her some to sit on it. Rewards and positive enforcement is great. Just make sure you don't do negative enforcement (punishment of any kind for mistakes or not wanting to do it.) and you should be fine.

Spoliers if you don't want to know about the ride, don't read.

The Nemo ride is a dark ride in a clam shell. It isn't fancy, but just well done. The theming is great, the que is long, but looks and feels just like the beach. They project Nemo and others on to the Aquarium and use technology to make it all look very good, fast moving and fun. Nemo bops around, kids love to "find him". It isn't scary, but there are some tense moments. You ride on the Currenent with the turtles. Lots of fun all around. Now if they could just redo Journey Into Your Imagination and get it right too, that would be great. The end is funny with the starfish in the tank too. You leave it wanting to ride it again. (we did 3 times over the whole trip.) The interactive section next to it is closed (where you could pet rays etc...) The CM said it would be a new wonderful theater in a few months (should be open when we come back in March.) The Area with the Sharks is still open. Along with all the other old area's.

It's been quiet around here lately. It's as if everyone's been transported to some alternate universe or something.

We took our kids to WDW when they were around 4 and 2.

Kona went when she was 6 weeks old. We stayed in the room a lot as we were there so DH could do the 1/2 Ironman. I'm not sure I would do that again. We did go during the summer so it wasn't a huge time where there a lot of sick people.

Weird isn't it? Henry's so sick that he wouldn't touch his cereal tonight. He just went in his crib for the first time today. I'm hoping he's down for the night and it's not just a nap.

Cabmom - Cute pictures! Dean is adorable. Enjoy your weekend before going back to work!

Poohangel - I love the Santa photo of Faith in your sig.

Well, I know it's been anything but quiet around here, which is why I haven't been posting--sick kid, gassy kid, and a downright annoying 3yo who wants more attention! Oh, and an 11yo who thinks it's not fair that her brother got to stay home sick.

I think Luke's problem is white grape juice. He had it yesterday and today, and was real gassy both times. Now he's sleeping, but only because the poor kid got so little sleep during the day today.

justthat--Sorry to hear that Henry is sick--so glad you didn't decide to trek to your mom's, though. Sick kids need to be home.

Lglblonde--we took our older two when they were 2 and 4. it was a lot of fun--you just have to plan around their schedules. We took our youngest at 6mo (but again, we wouldn't have if he were the oldest). I must say, he was easier than the 3yo on that trip. We use a baby sling--he rode in that more than the stroller, I think he found comfort in the closeness to mom or dad. Of course, it was August, so the thing smelled pretty bad by the end of the week.

Wow...where is everyone these days? Hope FF isn't right!!!

Hi lglblonde and poohangel! Nice to see you guys! How are Carson's buddies doing now that they're getting to be 5 months old? We didn't take the girls to WDW until they were 7 and 9 but they had a ball and they were on their own two feet which was nice. Plans are in the works to introduce Carson to Mickey in November '08 when he's 27 months.

disneyphd - glad you had a good trip!

cabmom - hope things work out for your job the way you want them to.

Well, my mom just called so I can't do two things at once! Check in later!

Ugh.

Well, I haven't been here because the baby has been sick for soooo long. The good news is that she is her smiley self again today - always a good sign.

Miss you guys. Hope everyone is doing well. :hippie:

Fabumouse - Glad to hear that Madeleine is her smiley self again.

Hi to Poohangel!

Cabmom - Good luck with work! Beautiful pictures too!! Dean is growing up so fast!

Justhat - I hope that Henry feels better soon.

DisneyPhD - I thought the Nemo ride was very cute. My 11 year old thought it was "eh" but she's 11 so nothing is cool unless is goes very fast.

BNBmom - I hope that everyone is on the mend in your house.

Hi to all the moms!

Well, I better run! I need to study. Ick.
