Why is that? I got my license in the 60's and I always use the backup camera. I'm proof that you can teach an old dog new tricks.
Shouldn't we be the ones that insist on doing things the "old" way?

Do a search for photo shops in your area. I was surprised at how many are still around. I had a 102 year old negative of my mother at age 3 standing alongside her older sister. They were able to take that negative and made a beautiful 5X8 photo. I was amazed that it was still so clear and clean looking. If it hadn't been in black and white, I would have sworn it was a recent photograph.

That is wonderful that you found someone to make that beautiful photo of your Mother for you!
