The Official New Mom Thread Part 2

Okay - good parenting moment. Today I scheduled Kailey's birthday party (which isn't for another 6 months) because last year I got shut out of the date closest to her actual birthday (and then made the mistake of scheduling it on a holiday weekend - DUH). The woman laughed at me for being so early, but I can take ridicule. :thumbsup2

And I really should call the Dr. about the whole itchy trush thing - but - and I know some of you can relate - the time I could go to the dr. would be during exercise time (because that's when I have a babysitter). And when I start scheduling things during exercise time, I start to schedule *more* things during exercise time, telling myself that they are more urgent. And then I find out that 6 months later that my jeans still make me gasp when I button them.

So I'm hoping it will just resolve itself. It's pathetic, I know. But, if it doesn't in a week, I'll take GLT's advice that medication is needed.

GM and Dizagain - try not to feel guilty. DH dropped Madeleine a few nights ago because she arched her back and he wasn't holding her properly. I called him an idiot (it was the absolutely nicest thing I could think of at the time) and we managed to freak out both girls. Bonus!

Z - glad you had a good weekend with your siblings.

Tasha - the teletubbies do me in, too. I think it's the "let's do it again!" repetition that makes me want to shake the tv and scream "Don't You Dare Do It Again!!!!"

Hi J&D!

GLT - sorry about your back! Ouch!

Jill - glad the scan went well and I hope you get the results quickly.

Bellacam - I'm sending you pixie dust. We're still not on a decent schedule (and even if we were, we'd have lost it because of Madeleine's cold, so it wouldn't matter anyhow).

SL - I'm worried about that smell in the office. It doesn't sound like it could possibly be good for your lungs.

Justhat - glad to hear Henry likes his rice cereal! Madeleine was doing great with food until she realized that she likes sweet potatoes MUCH more than those nasty green vegetables. The faces she makes!

BNB - I do the same thing with gardening every year! I really really try, but I get burned out about halfway through, both because of the work, but the cost of doing any of it right becomes overwhelming (we really need a landscaper).

Gems - Ack! I know how you feel! I hope the baby is cooked and on its flumpy way.

Now back to the fun :laundy:

Good evening moms!

Gosh, it is hard to believe that Jimmy and Jenna are going to turn 2 soon! It seems like it was yesterday that they turned 1! :goodvibes

Justhat – I hope that Madison is feeling better soon. It is so tough when our little ones are sick. That is great too about Henry liking his cereal!

GM – A garden sounds like a great idea! Fresh veggies during the summer certainly is a treat. My dd’s are always bugging me to plant a garden, but I am terrible at it. I kill every plant that comes my way. It is sad actually.

GLT – I hope that you get some rest!! My sis said that she would love to chat with you sometime. She had problems with her e-mail a bit ago, but I’m sure it is cleared up by now. Also, take it easy (easier said than done) with your back.

J&D – If you find any good exercise videos for toddlers let me know. I could stand to do something with John.

Tasha & J&D – I think that I am the opposite of a night owl. If I could be in bed every night at 8:00 then I would!

SL – Holy Moly about your office. First the cold and then the smell. I’m glad that nothing landed on your head though!

FF & Robin – That new Gymbo line sure is cute!

GM – Poor Olivia and poor mom with her hitting her head. Don’t feel guilty though. It happens to all of us. John fell off the bed when we were at WDW and I felt horrible about it.

Fab – I meant to tell you that for the longest time I got ‘cow’ gifts too. Thankfully, I don’t get them anymore! I’m all ‘cow’ed out! ;) I’m not sure how I started to get them either but I did. Oh and that is great that you got a place for Kailey’s bday party. Hey, it is never too late to plan.

Lissawynn – Oh, I hope that a snowstorm doesn’t hit when you go into labor! I went into pre-term labor during the blizzard of ’96 with Meagan and it was crazy! My neighbor had to take me in his 4 wheel drive to the hospital and we got stuck in front of the Pentagon. I can look back now and laugh (thankfully they stopped the labor) but at the time it was insane. Do you have a 4 wheel drive?

DisKim – It sounds like your principal is still mad over the microphone incident. I still think that you are an amazing teacher for b/c you are definitely an advocate for your students. Your principal is crazy to act like he does.

Diz - I’m glad to hear that Carson is fine. That must have been scary for you!

Bellacam – Sending warm wishes to you! It takes a bit to settle into a routine with two kids, but you will get there! Pop in when you can!

Z – I love your Tigger signature! I saw that thread where the siggy came from and it cracked me up. Of course, I feel very bad for the CM who played Tigger b/c in that video it looked like the teen was up to something.

BNBmom – That is great that Robert likes wrestling. Ok, I am in awe of how you balance everything with your kids. I’m barely making it with the girl’s schedules and John. Do all the kids take Karate? How do you do it? Any advice is welcome here! I think it is great what you are doing too!

Gems – It is wonderful to hear from you! Wow, that was fast with the antenna toppers! I’m glad that you like them! I saw some more today at the Disney store near my home and I thought of you. If you need anymore let me know b/c I can get them here.

Keep us posted on Mr. Flumpy! I hope that the doctor does take pity on you b/c you are suffering way too much at this point. You’ll be in my prayers!

Hi to everyone! :goodvibes

After John got up from his nap, I took the kids to pick up Meagan’s new glasses and then we hit the mall to get some birthday presents. I don’t get to the mall much and I saw that they opened a new Cheesecake Factory! Yummo!!  After we did our shopping we picked up some Cheesecake for tonight’s dessert.

Just reading up and want to send major :wizard: pixie dust and happy thoughts to Gems!!!!! I know how you're feeling (well, we ALL do) and I hope you can sweet-talk your doctor into taking pity on you! It worked for me with my second and third - I think they were just sick of me whining so they helped me along!

Gotta go let DH "talk" to Carson on the phone - he's out of town again. Everyone have a great night!

Jill,

I'm so happy John's scan went well!!

I've been busy listing stuff on ebay to earn money for Gymbo this week. I've got some Gymboree stuff up if any mommies want to take a look.

msspackler is my ebay id.

GEM,

You poor dear. I hope you get some good news tomorrow. It won't be long now. I'll be thinking about you and sending good thoughts your way.

Hi Ladies,

I'm sorry that every post of mine lately starts out with "I don't have enough time to read......blah blah blah".....

GLT- The pictures of your kids were just adorable from the birthday party. Glad everyone had a nice time.

Justine - Sorry Madison isn't feeling well - hope she's doing better soon.

T1Gem and Lissawynn- our Mommies to be - hang in there - :grouphug:

Jill - that's great news about John's scan - I'm so happy to hear the news.

Hi to all of my other wonderful Mom Friends!!! :flower3:

I PROMISE i'll go back and read the 3 or 4 pages i've missed tomorrow night.
I have a Drs. appt with the baby tomorrow for a well check up and i'm so tired i'm falling asleep at the keyboard.

Goodnight ladies!

Hiya~

Fabs- LOL with the Teletubbies comments. Sam LOVED the T-Tubbies and they are a tad bit grating to watch.

Gems! Wow~ I can't believe Flumpy MIGHT come into the world tomorrow! Amazing! And if not, please let us know how you're doing after the scan. I'm sorry you are feeling miserable.

Jill- cheesecake factory--------I'm drooling! I have a quasi-date to go there with a friend of mine later this month. I need to call her and pick a day! Yikes on your labor story with Meagan! That must have been scary when you got stuck in traffic/weather. I love having an AWD vehicle- they are forecasting possible snow tomorrow for here. NO! I need the boys to be in school!

GM- Good luck with your garden- that will be fun! My parents did a huge one last summer and it was quite fruitful- lots of tomatoes, corn, peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, and other stuff I'm forgetting. They have apple and pear trees too!

GLT- the birthday party pics were awesome! I'm sorry your back is not right- hopefully that will get fixed soon- I strained a nerve or muscle in college and it was horrible.

FF- I would SO be bidding on your Fiesta del Sol tops if I hadn't already bought 2 of the 3 of them, LOL! I love the rhumba top- it's something I am looking forward to seeing Molly wear in FL (as it will be June here before she can wear it!).

Hillary- hope you get some rest tonight!

A big HI too all our moms!

DS had his 4 year old well visit yesterday. The dr. forgot to tell me where he is on the charts though... he is about 41 1/2 inches tall and 47 pounds (if I recall properly). All checked out ok, we are going to try a variation of Zantac though, as he has had issues with stomach aches the past few months.

Hillbeans - good luck with tomorrow's dr. appt!

Gem - I asked about the date of the shop opening. I am so excited for you and dh, good luck!

FF - good luck with gymbo!

diz - Will DH travel as much after you move?

jill - yeah, haven't been taking it too easy, but did resist bending over for a few hours today - hard when there are toys everywhere -- and of course I had a case of the dropsies today:lmao:
mmmmmm cheesecake factory sounds divine! I just had some coffee and oreos, not quite the same...who's b'day is it?

fab - call the dr and get the meds, well worth it. And they will probably just call the presription in for you...good luck

bnb - is Luke feeling okay, or just refusing sleep? I hope you got everything done you needed to.

gm - researching gardening sounds fun, a hobby to take up in your "spare" time? The peach tree idea is cute, but I think it needs much warmer weather (hence them growing in Georgia) but I could be wrong.

Robin - hope you got some stuff done

J&D - that video sounds cute!

Val - hope all is well with you

HELLO to all the DIS moms out there.

OK, must go do some work. Have a nice night ladies!

/
GLT - Because we have the CDC growth charts in our house...for a 4yo boy it's 75th percentile height and 95th percentile weight. Sounds like my son.

Fabumouse - Way to go on Kailey's birthday!! I have yet to do anything with Madison's and it's in 6 weeks!

GLT- Actually, according to the seed catelogs most peach trees should grow in our zone. It's too cold here for anything citrus (oranges, lemons, tangerines), but it's warm enough for peaches and pears. There are some peach farms here on Long Island, but there are more apple tree fields, as I think apples are hardier around here.

I'd write some more, but I'm about to pass out!

Drive by from me...

The heat works again and the smell is gone. There's still some guy pounding away at the roof but hopefully he won't be right above my head again. TTYL!

Good morning moms!

I really should be getting John up since the PT will be here in 40 minutes. Yikes! Poor little guy woke up screaming at 3:30 in the morning. The doctor warned me that this might happen as a reaction to yesterday. Needless to say, I'm tired today.

Gems - Continued good thoughts and wishes your way! :wizard:

Hillbeans - Good luck with the doctor's appointment!

SL - I hope that they don't work over your head today! :scared:

Robin - I'll cross my fingers for you that you don't get snow! The girls are dying to get snow here, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

The whole ordeal with my pre-term labor with Meagan is comical now but at the time it was crazy. I got sent straight home to bed after my 34 week check up. The doctor said I was contracting too much. I honestly had no clue I was in labor. They wouldn't even let me go back to work to collect my stuff and I was in the middle of a big project. I ended up having my work sent to my home so I could finish the project. Then the blizzard hits! It was crazy, but thankfully I held off delivering Meagan for a few weeks.

GLT - I hope that the Zantac works on your ds's stomach issues. Poor guy! Take it easy on your back too. I know it is hard especially if you have to pick up the kids stuff. Meagan's birthday is at the end of this month, but she also has 3 bday parties to go to in the next two weeks.

GM - How did everything go last night with your client?

Justhat - I hope Madison is doing better today!

Well, I seriously need to run. I'm sorry that I missed some of you guys! I hope that you all are doing well.

Morning! Just dropped the girls off at choir and student council and baby boy fell asleep! Woo hoo! We're waiting to see if the builder accepts or counters our offer today - DH got it signed and faxed late yesterday. He did answer a few questions for us...when we were there, it had just rained heavily for several days and there was lots of standing water in the driveway area since it's on a hill and the next lot over slopes down. They are putting in a retaining wall that matches our bricks so that is a relief. Of course, now I'm freaking out that I will crash into it!!!! I have a bad history with garages and haven't parked inside in about 6 years....this house has a side entry garage so I will have to back out/turn all the time. Let's just say that this is scary - at least the garage doesn't have a divider thing in the middle. I have knocked more than one side mirror off with those!!!

jill - hope John does well with the therapist after his ordeal yesterday!

sl - good luck surviving another day at that office!!!

ginamarie - I am impressed with your gardening ideas!! I wouldn't even attempt such a thing. DH and Hannah planted tomatoes and carrots last year with some success, though.

glt - Laine sounds like he's doing great!! And yes, DH will still be traveling when we move. Most of his trips will be driving since they are within 5 hours or so and he thinks he'll be gone about 7 nights a month. Not TOO bad and I'm loving the Marriott and Amex points!!!

hillbeans - hope the check-up goes well!

gems - :wizard: :wizard:

ok - need to clean up so I can go to the mall and not worry if someone comes in my house! Have a great day!

Morning all! Finally, a few minutes to myself with a cup of tea--isn't it amazing how your idea of "heaven" changes after a few kids?

Gems--:wizard: that your pregnancy is over soon! Soon your little Flumpy will have his "real" name!

GLT--We just all have colds, I think he's congested, so he sleeps better upright. And then when I try to pick his nose for him (yuck!), he's like, "Hey--get your own snot!" Yeah, like this is a blast for me... He did okay last night and is sleeping fine now. Some days are just like that.

Jill--I'm sure I sound like more of a "super mom" than I feel like! For one thing, everything but Friday dance class is at the school--literally, a mile and a half from home. The administration wants kids to feel very comfortable there, plus it's rural, so everything takes place there. So, I can drop off Robert at wrestling, walk down the hall to scouts (Mondays) or dance (Wednesdays), and collect him later. Jocelyn has locker access, so she can do homework if she chooses, I've dropped off projects, etc. Pus, I've mentioned before, DH really signed on for being a huge part of things with #4, and he has been, so frequently it's him doing the running while I'm home with Luke and Celeste.OH, and to organize, I put a desk calendar on the wall, and list EVERYTHING on it--each person has their own highlighter color.

dizagain--Sounds like things are really moving along for your move. I'm sure you'll gain confidence with the garage with time. Maybe you could edge the driveway with something, so that you hit that before the wall. How exciting to get a custom built house!

"Hi" to everyone else--I still haven't packed up my Christmas village or nativity, so I really should do that before spring!

Hi again!

Well, I think that John is still a little bit traumatized from yesterday b/c he wanted nothing to do with the infant educator or the physical therapist. I was happy to see Katie's old PT as one of the evaluators as we really loved her and she did a great job with Katie. It turns out that John does have developmental delays in his gross motor skills (no surprise there!) so he is now eligible for services through early intervention. His cognitive and social/emotional skills are right on target so all we need is PT twice a month. Since John is pretty motivated to move, we don't think he will need PT very long. His main weakness is in his upper body and he doesn't have the foundational transition skills needed for learning to get in and out of a sitting position, pull up to a stand, cruise and walk, etc.. The funny thing is that he crawled while we were at Disney but hasn't since. He scootches on his rear which is fine but no crawling in sight. There must have been something about WDW that made him want to crawl! ;)

So, while it would have been nice to not be eligible for services I really think that the time has come for us to do the PT. Meagan and Katie needed it and it was a godsend. I really hope that Katie's therapist will be John's therapist as well. We have another meeting on the 24th to set up our IFSP.

Today certainly is a busy day as this afternoon is Meagan's Neurologist visit. I hope that all goes well and we will try to figure out what is causing Meagan's pain.

My MIL is still in the hospital and I asked my dh to speak with his siblings about her possibly come up here to recuperate (sp?). We will see how that goes.

Ok, enough about me......

Dizagain - Good luck with the house! I hear you about the garage situation. We have a side load garage with a divider in the middle and I am always afraid that I am going to take my side mirrors off!

BNBmom - That is wonderful that everything is at the school! We have to drive all over the place for the kids activities. It gets old living the in car. I like your calendar idea! :thumbsup2 I think I might have to set up a bulletin board/calendar on the wall like you. I currently have the household schedule in my Palm pilot but that doesn't help inform my dh as to what is going on.

Hillbeans - How did the appointment go today?

Gems - Let us know how your appointment goes.

DisKim - Anymore grief from your principal?

Well, I better get busy. My student teaching application is due and I need to put it together. Take care moms!!! :goodvibes

justhat - thanks for the info! Looking at DS you'd never guess he was "heavy" as you can see his ribs when his shirt is off, but he's certainly solid! Thanks for letting me know.

Bnb - ick about the snot, I know how that goes though:rotfl2:

jill - I'm all for early intervention! I hope it's the same therapist.:wizard: When do you find out about the scan? Next week?

diz - chior and student council, are those before school activities? Hope all gets done today and that the builder accepts teh bid, that would be fabulous!!

gotta run
OK, who posted that choo choo train link? Now I am finally seeing it on TV....

Jill - glad to hear you're getting the PT John needs - I believe I said before that I think Early Intervention is one of the best social programs out there and Kailey's reflux would have gone undiagnosed for probably another 6 months without the EI team.

BnB - that calendar idea is great - I'll have to steal it once Madeleine gets old enough.

GLT - I think I may have mentioned that Zantac did *nothing* for Kailey and neither did that silly purple pill. The only thing that helped her poor tummy was Prilosec and Prevacid. I think they work differently (neutralizing acid vs. stopping its production).

SL - glad the smell is gone.

Justhat- I think I was traumatized by Kailey's friend's party last weekend - don't remember if I mentioned it here, but essentially the mom put invites in the backpacks on Friday (which nobody looks in until Sunday afternoon), called everyone in a panic on Saturday to see if anyone was coming, and then showed videos for 2.5 hours on Sunday - calling it a "Princess Party" princess: :sad2:

How is Madison feeling today?

Gems - is Flumpy READY???

:3dglasses

Quick post from me just to say "hi"! I have to type up an activity for my freshmen on character analysis, get all my stuff copied for tomorrow and attend a 504 meeting for one of my students. Busy day!!

Jill - No more grief from the principal. He actually said "hi" to me today. I wanted to kick him. As I've said before, I'm not confrontational. If I'm really pushed to the wall I can be but the last time that happened was about 5 years ago. I did not say anthing to him because I figured it would just make my life here more miserable and would solve nothing so it's not worth it. I did talk to a union rep. Our union sucks, to put it bluntly. He told me he is within his rights so what can I really do about it.

OK, I'm being bad. I have to go!!

Hi Ladies -

Liam's doctors appt. went pretty well today. He is 31.65 pounds (yikes) and 32.25 inches. His height is still about 90th percent, but his weight kind of went off the charts. Liam eats everything, he takes food away from his brother. I told the Doctor that he does probably eat too much (even though he eats a lot of fruit, yogurt, etc). I also have been cutting way back on juice (maybe 10 oz a day mixed with water).

They also said that his right Testicle wasn't descended. It had been before and she told me sometimes it moves around (I almost started laughing :lmao: ). I know someone here just went through that (was it Bellacam). The Doctor didn't seem too concerned so I won't be either unless it's still moving around at his next well visit. He also had 2 shots which are always a lot of fun.

Jill - I'm sorry to hear you had such a rough night with John. I'm glad you are able to get the therapy for John though. You have such a great attitude about all of this - it's amazing how calm you seem with all of it. I know those therapists will work wonders for John.

Diskim - Sorry to hear that your Union had nothing good to add with the issues you've been having with your principal. He sounds like a real jerk. Hang in there.

Fabumouse - I just had to LOL at the "Princess party" idea where she was going to show videos for 2 hours.

BNB - Enjoy your nice cup of tea. :coffee: . It truly is the little things in life that we find pleasure from.

GLT - I'm glad the Doctors appt. went well. :thumbsup2

Dizagain - your house stuff seems to be really moving along. That's very exciting (and nervewracking at the same time). Good luck to you and the family.

(LOL - Liam is here at my feet staring - I MEAN STARING at all the smilies off to the right of the page. Even my oldest son noticed a few new ones after the upgrade. It's the little things....)

Tamie - Are you so ready for your trip? Today we had a freak snowstorm but now the sun is out but it's finally cold (and very windy). Have a great time and have a Pina Colada or Margarita for me!

SL - It's cold today so I hope the heat is working for you!!!

Gems - :flower3:

Floridafam - good luck with your E-bay sales. I just sold $42 worth of Spring maternity clothes. My husband was shocked but I kept the things in nice condition and threw out the stuff that had stains. Now I have to dig around for some more things to sell.

Alice - Did I ask you if you're renting a crib in WDW or using the pack and play or is Molly big enough for the bed? I think we're going to rent from ABBF. When I look at your ticker I get excited because i'm just a week after you - I really can't wait for vacation. Good luck today if you get snow.

Ginamarie - we have a pear tree in our yard - I don't know what kind they are but they are some kind of pear.

Justine - I hope you''re having a great day today!!

Well, i'm going to try and clean out more stuff today from the toy room, and try to enjoy a few hours with the baby until Kevin is home from school. I have been pretty stressed out lately. My dad asked me if I wanted to go with him to Atlantic City on the 24th - I may just take him up on that offer.

Gotta go - Hi to all the mommies!!!

Hi moms! :goodvibes

I am behind today on everything including my DIS-ing. Thought I would check in and see how everyone is doing.....

Gems, thanks goodness you're nearing the end with Flumpy. I had a scheduled section with Cameryn and she decided she wanted me to have labbor pains so came early so I could enjoy both the pains of labor and the section. :goodvibes

Lissa - hope your're feeling better by the time you see this too.

Well, I just wanted to send good vibes to the pregnant mommies and moms sick and sick little ones.

I still need to scroll back a few pages and catch up now while the kids are napping. See you all later. ;)

Hillbeans - we also went through the undescended testicle with Connor...as a matter of fact he had surgery twice for it. His right one never came down at all so they fixed that and then on his other side, it moved up and down so they went in the 2nd time and fixed that. He is just fine now and hopefully will give me plenty of grandbabies someday!
