The Official GLEE thread

Can someone explain the significance of the Finn/Rachel song that everyone hated? I totally didn't get it. I haven't seen all the episodes, maybe I missed something.

Looking forward to the Rocky Horror show!

I didn't get it, either. :confused3

I loved Glee last night, and I thought the Happy Days/Get Happy medley was incredible and a great homage to Judy and Barbra. I don't think that Lea does too many Barbra songs, I just think they are memorable because she does them so well. Her facial expressions annoy me, but as long as that amazing voice keeps coming out of her, she can do whatever she wants with her face.

I totally agree!!! She can sing any Babs she wants and make whatever faces, I just LOVE to listen to her sing. (would love to have Idina back though, so they can do some more duets, those are heavenly)

Add me to the old as dirt group because I loved the songs too! DH and I use to sing the Elton John KiKi Dee song all the time when we were dating and we sang it last night for the kids, I think they thought we had lost our minds!!!

I remember the Rocky Horror show, but I lived in a small town so we never had midnight showing of it, but I have seen the movie many times. Not only did Susan Sarandon get her start, also Barry Bostwick! I can't believe how young he looked compared to now. She hasn't changed that much.

Maybe all of us who fit this should form a group called the Clods!

I too have fond memories of throwing toast at a movie screen. I can't wait to once again amaze my kids with my knowledge of all the lyrics to the songs in the episode. Now if I could just sing them on key! :rolleyes1

The song, "With You I'm Born Again", originally performed by Billy Preston and Syreeta Wright, is all about making love, complete with very suggestive lyrics. Finn and Rachel performed it dressed as a NUN and a PRIEST!! They were trying to be offensive, and it worked- playing with the "born again" part of the song...

Quinn and Sam's duet was my wedding song, so I liked that one!

I thought the Santana duet was the best!

I'm still in my 20's for another few months, and I watched Rocky Horror in the theater at college on the weekends too! It will be interesting to see whether the episode makes Rocky Horror more popular with the youngins, or if they'll just skip this episode.

I liked last night's episode but it wasn't a favorite. I agree Santana's and Mercede's duet was awesome :thumbsup2 I do like how they are giving the other characters some more screen time and story. I can't wait for the Rocky Horror episode (I'm not older than dirt but I have been known to belt out into the Timewarp  )

I'm with ya! I am so looking forward to this episode!

Ok-so all you youngin's -find somebody who is in their late 50's and ask them what they remember about The Rocky Horror Picture Show;)

When those old folks were young and cool and single-it was the thing to do every single Saturday night in every town, city in America to go to a theater-not a mega plex-a single screen theater and watch this movie at midnight

It had a HUGE cult following. People attended dressed as the characters-people said the lines during the show

It made Susan sarandon a star!!:)

They still do a midnight showing at a local theater here about once a month. I love the little/big town/city I live in! :cool1: My DD is going to her first showing this month. She's so excited! :yay:

In defense of Lea, singing really isn't that pretty to watch if you're doing it right. You've really got to open your mouth, or so I've been taught. I guess lip-syncing has made that less common.

I'm way excited to see Glee do Time Warp!

oh I love Lea singing Babs!
I am really excited for the Rocky Horror episode.

Not my favorite episode of all time-but still good, I missed Sue...

I'm so sad they made Puck a theif !
Loved that character.
Liked this episode much more than the Bittany one.

Can't wait for the Rocky Horror show, Yes I am older
than dirt too !!

Fox Movie Channel will be showing the Rocky Horror Picture Show on Halloween :cool1:

I just started watching Glee this season! Love it! Can't wait for next weeks episode, Rocky Horror Picture show. My 14 DD wants to know what Rocky Horror Picture show is, I told her I can't explain it, you just have to watch it. Checking the cable guide for any upcoming shows!

Hhhmmm, that was it? I guess I didn't really find that so outrageously offensive. I was thinking there must've been some sort of back story to that.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is available on Netflix in Watch Instantly.

I think I am the only one who can't stand Britney. I did like this episode because of all the show tunes but missed seeing Sue.

I just don't think the younger generatrion are going to "get" Rocky Horror watching it at home. You have to have the full theater/character, audience participation to truly appreciate it. I'm of the Rocky Horror generation and watching it at home it just seems........campy? Well okay it IS campy It's supposed to be. I guess the question is does this generation get campy?

That's what I love so much about Glee it apeals to ALL of us :)

I'm 28 (so not quite the demographic in question), but I love Rocky Horror. I saw it for the first time when I was 10 (which is, admittedly, a bit young) and have been a fan ever since. However, I didn't get to see it in a theater until I was in my 20s, because I live in a rural area. I had to make do with home DVD viewings with friends and *shudder* network showings at Halloween. I also know a couple of kids (through church, oddly enough) who are in Glee's target age (16 or so) and they "get" Rocky. I do agree that one should experience it in a theater, but in my area, live showings are just about dead. The closest cast is hours away, in NJ. Maybe Glee doing Rocky will get more younger people interested, which will hopefully lead to more live casts and theaters showing Rocky again. Angela Theater in Coaldale, PA - I'm looking at you in particular!!

Fox has released audio for three of the songs from the upcoming Rocky Horror episode:

As with several other cases, I cannot help but cringe when I listen to these incredibly talented singers singing songs that were made famous by arguably mediocre singers. (How many of us have Barry Bostwick albums in our collection? :)) From what I can hear, they really put the "originals" to shame.

Is that Emma with the lead in "Touch-a Touch-a Touch-a Touch Me"?
