The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY! Part 2

We'll be at the lodge next Saturday. We are so excited.
All this talk about the F&W Festival, has me so excited to try some new wines. I just can't wait. Hope dh doesn't mind watching the kids for a while, while me and my best friend indulge.

Kristin & Bev are ya'll ready? Hope to see you there.

...Down to single digits. This will be our first time at WL and can't wait to walk through the door. I've finally finished all the planning and can't wait to try the F&W. I seem to remember reading a post somewhere that said that they would take the Disney Rewards $/cards as payment for the F&W apps/tastings. Anyone else seem to recall this?

Now we just have to all get over our colds before we leave. Gotta love all those back to school bugs. I suppose it could be worse.

Has anyone here ever also stayed at OKW.
Here's the deal we have a quick trip planed for Oct and the WL is totally booked solid.
We got an awesome deal on a 2BDR at OKW from a DVC member.
We've never stayed at OKW but  the WL.
Any tips for those that have stayed at both

Minnie

I'm so sorry that you weren't able to book a room @ the Lodge for your stay. (Been There)
I have stayed over at OKW and I'm sure you will have a wonderful visit, but while staying in the the 2-Bedroom you may get lost going from one room to the other. The accommodations are the largest on property.

Over at the Villas @ Wilderness Lodge the 2-Bedrooms are very roomy with 1080 sq. ft. But at Old Key West the 2-Bedrooms are 1322 sq.ft.

For an idea about what you should ask for the DVC Member to request I'll post the information from ALLEARS.

WHEN MAKING MY RESERVATION, SHOULD I INCLUDE ANY SPECIAL REQUESTS?

Like all WDW resorts, requests are noted on your reservation, but are not guaranteed. If you or one of your guests have special needs, you should make those needs known when booking your stay. Handicapped Accessible rooms are available but only the three newest buildings (62, 63 and 64) have elevators and many building have three floors, so be sure to request a first floor unit if necessary. (Be aware that Building 64 does not have its own parking lot.) If you are looking for a non-smoking unit, this should be mentioned when making your reservation. The “smoking optional” buildings are 12, 19, and 41. Also remember to request a one or two-bedroom unit in buildings 30 and above if having the second entrance to the bathroom is important.

Most repeat visitors find that requesting a particular view (woods, golf course, water) or location (near a bus stop, quiet pool or the Hospitality House, for example) will yield better results than choosing a specific building.

I think I remember reading the same thing but have no idea where it was. :confused3 I plan on purchasing the Disney Gift Card that you can use at the booths, load it with how much you would like to spend then just eat away, saves from worring about having all those $5.00 bills we usually carry around.

I also believe you could use your Disney Rewards to purchase the gift cards.

Hope your family has a speedy recovery from all those cold germs.

Beckie,

Thanks for the quick response. I just got off the phone with Dining and they called over to "somewhere" (F&W people, I imagine) to verify it's usage. The CM came back and said there should be no problem with using the rewards card. If not, then the gift card is a great idea. Thanks. This will be our 1st F&W and my wife and I are looking forward to it.

You are going to have a GREAT TIME just don't eat and drink everything before I get there.

Thanks for calling and checking on the Disney Rewards Cards I know several people have been wondering about being able to use them.

Beckie,

That's going to be a challenge. Since my wife left all the planning up to me, I mysteriously wound up being in or around Epcot 3 times during the week (and that with 2 kids in tow). Wonder how that happened? :rolleyes1

I just went and checked my itinerary I have 5 maybe 6 visits over to sample the great food and wine. Our last night we have reservations for Party of the Senses. (yummy) If there is anyway you and your wife could manage to get reservations to attend this event you should. Remember at the Lodge they have the CUB'S DEN that little guest love to visit. :)

Beckie,
We would both love to try one of those events. We have 1 little girl who would love the Cub's Den. However, our little boy (high functioning autism) would freak out if we left him. Perhaps, as he gets older. In the meantime, we'll take to perusing the samples. :drinking: popcorn::

If there was a drool smilie on this site, this would be an outstanding place for it!! Except the chocolate creme brulee (I'm a purist when it comes to them).

I was going through my recent trip pictures and thought this one would be fitting for this thread. I made sure all of us rubbed Humphry's nose and we had a great trip. :thumbsup2

P.S.: My Dsis arrived at WDW today (quick trip for MNSSHP) she called from MGM and said they have started putting up the Christmas Lights for the The Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights :cool1:

OK! With all the postings of the samplings of food available from the 'street vendors' in Epcot during F&W, should we cancel the ADR and just eat in the street? Will there be more bland items for the kids like filet and shrimp with little spice?

OH I so hope they will be up and ON when we are there Oct 18-23. I did not want to come in Nov because I want the kids to see Disney this time not dressed up for Christmas, but I was sad that I could not see the Osborne lights again. Fingers crossed. Also crossed that Nemo has a soft opening when we are there.

...I don't think that it'll be enough to really fill you up...perhaps you might want to consider making late afternoon ressies (like a late lunch) instead of a BIG DINNER...that way, later in the evening, you can enjoy all the samplings....

Kris

I can only tell you what we enjoy doing during Food & Wine. On the nights we are at EPCOT sampling food from all the booths we don't make ADR's just to many new items to try.

Unless your children are adventurous eaters there wont be many items for them at the booths, however all the counter service locations are open and serve the usual childrens items, so they will have food options. We have never felt the need for additional ADR's during our Food & Wine visits.

Click on the link below it will take you to the menu's from the booths last year:

Epcot's 2005 International Food & Wine Booths

When we are at the other Parks I make our ADR's for lunch, also I make ADR's for a few breakfast.

It takes several months to place all the Christmas Lights and they aren't ready until the dates of the Christmas Festivities in November. Sorry
