Can someone advise if any of the concierge level rooms sleep 5? We are having to reschedule our trip and my daughter will be turning 3 before we go now. Trying to determine if we need to look at one of the other resorts. Thanks

The only rooms on the Concierge level that would accomodate 5 would be the vice presidential and the presidential suites (Yellowstone and Yosemite Suites). Or you could do a "Junior Suite", but those don't include concierge services :(

btw..just wanted to say  to everyone. I haven't been able to post..went to Dr a couple days after we returned from our trip..and now I have an arm in a cast..SO hard to type!

I think (maybe someone can confirm) that there really aren't many standard rooms in the WL, and anything NOT over the service/loading area is woods view.

I have booked a standard room from Dec 17-21st and am so excited! My question is do any of the standard rooms have a MK view or should I upgrade? I would really like to have a chance of seeing the MK fireworks from our room. Is this possible?

Katnevsmom
From my calculations there are approximately 61 Standard View rooms out of the 728 rooms @ the Lodge. Of those 9 are also lobby rooms that are on the 4th floor located over the Check-In and Guest Service Desk. (South Side of the building) The other Standard View rooms are located in the North Wing and are located looking out over a driveway and service area. Then in the distance the CR and MAGIC KINGDOM views. The higher floors do have the best MAGIC KINGDOM Views.

I would request North Wing 6th floor. Good Luck with your room assignment I am also adding you to our December list.

Has anyone had problems trying to book the WL????
We have been trying for weeks now to book the WL for 10/12 - 10/14 with no luck whatsoever.
It is our favorite resort but so far no luck

Minnie

The Lodge is so popular that during the MNSSHP and Food and Wine dates the rooms are all booked up early. Next year you should try and book several months before your dates. There may be cancelations but there will be very few.

GOOD LUCK

Is it wrong that we have 81 days till lift off and I'm having problems concentrating at work? I feel like this guy :tigger:

Any ways, to tide myself and others over till then:

Enjoy the view

Hi, I think my post got buried. Did I read right that you can't fax your requests to WL? I'd like to reiterate my requests especially because of medical issues so I'm wondering can you call the WL a few days before the trip?
Also wondering about the a/c units. I thought I read that the a/c kicks off when you aren't moving in the room? Is that the case with WL? Won't bother me so much if that happens when we are out during the day, but at night I want it cold. Thanks

The air conditioning never shut off in our room -- the controls are the more basic sort, not the digital type.

oh okay, I know I read somewhere there were A/C units that would shut off when there was no movement in the room. Maybe it was at some of the other resorts. I was hoping it wasn't the WL. I like a nice cold room. :sunny:

With a week left for our trip, I will want to confirm reservations especially since I have medical issues involved. I thought I read that you can't fax to the WL? Is it okay then to call WL a few days before the trip to verify and explain my situation?

Sleepingbeautymama

I guess you missed my post on page 281 post #4215....

If you have medical issues there is a special group that you could call, I'm sorry I don't have the contact information. You should be able to get the information over on the "disABILITIES! Forum" if it's just a request you could call the main # of the Lodge a few days before arrival and ask to speak with either a manager or room assigner.

You are correct Wilderness Lodge doesn't except FAX request but most Disney Resorts don't. They request that you make all your request through main reservations # so it will be on your room reservation.

Good Luck

Has anyone gotten "swimmers itch" from swimming with the ducks in the pool?

Swimmers Itch occurs in freshwater and in the marine coastal environments, not in chemically treated swimming pools. You should be fine swimming after/with the ducks.

The only time Disney gets upset is when the Ducks from the Grand Floridan and the Polynesian Pool Hop @ the Wilderness Lodge.

Hi all,

Well, we are now 7 days out from our first stay at the WL :woohoo: , and while I am beyond excited, I have now entered a new level of obsessive trip planning. :teeth: I'm now in the nitty gritty of my touring plans, and am starting to see some potential 'issues' that may arise. Anyhoo, sorry, back to my question....
I know that there are a lot of unknowns that factor into how long transportation can take from the WL to the parks (i.e. crowd levels, time of day, plain ol' luck of walking up and finding a bus or but, etc), that said, could someone help me figure out rough estimates of what I should plan on for transportation time for:
WL to Poly
WL to GF
WL to AKL
WL to AK
WL to MGM

Sorry if that's asking too much  - just a general idea of what we can expect is what I'm looking for, fully realizing that there are a lot of variables to consider. MANY MANY THANKS!!!! This has been a great board to keep an eye on as I was planning our vacation. THANKS to all!

Lastly, I'm just crossing fingers that the crowds remain as low as it sounds like they have been. We'll be there 9/25-10/2. Any thoughts???

Thanks again.

You did read it here on the DIS Boards, ::yes:: When they opened Pop Century the units were like that, if no movement was detected the AC Unit would shut off. They have codes they can use to override this system, and most rooms there have been adjusted with the codes. The units at Wilderness Lodge are great each room has a thermostat that can be adjusted to the temperature that is most comfy for you.

It really is a guesstimate:
Because the bus has been temporarily rerouted back to the TTC your visits to The Grand Floridian and Polynesian will be very minimal just catch the bus at the # 1 bus stop to TTC (they run every 10 minutes) From TTC you can either walk to the Poly or take the resort monorail. (travel time less then 20 minutes) To the Grand Floridain add about 5 minutes.

For the fastest route From WL to AKL you will need to take the bus from WL to AK then transfer to the bus to AKL, or take the boat to MK then transfer to a bus going to the AKL I would allow 40 minutes for this for both routes.

For WL to AK it should take about 35 minutes

For WL to MGM it should take 25-30 minutes.

As the bus that goes to AK also stops at BB during operating hours it could take longer.

And the bus that goes to MGM shares with Ft Wilderness Campground.

Actually I have had all the busses share with Ft. Wilderness Campground but sometimes every bus doesn't. :confused3

Not sure of the exact dates that the free dining starts, but with the start of Free Dinning, MNSSHP and Food & Wine the attendance will be very high soon.

Since some may have missed it thought I'd post a link to the overview shot of WL again.
The site is pretty amazing as you can "tour" around all of disney world and see some amazing closeup shots from above:
