We arrive at the Poly in 10 days!! Can you tell I'm slightly excited??
We actually arrive at CSR in 9 days but day one is extra and we plan on relaxing and swimming that day. Then that night we will probably go to Downtown Disney to get a jumpstart on the shopping. :rolleyes1
My questions are, what is the typical price of a nice Polynesian t-shirt for the three of us? We will have our DD (7), my DH and myself. I like to have a shirt from our resort. Also, what is the current cost of the the refillable mugs? One more thing - key chains? Are there special Polynesian keychains as well? I am just getting an idea on the price of our must-haves.
I am also looking for ideas for my DD's 2nd grade classmates. There are around 20 of them. I don't want to spend a lot but I wanted to be able to take a little something back for them.

Just got back on Friday and most of the tshirts were at least $20 or more. They do have a poly keychain, but I don't remember the price. I brought the Christmas ornament for $10 that was similar logo to the keychain. Good luck for 20 souvenirs! We did buy a pack of 6 pens for $12 to use as souvenirs.

Have fun!!!!

To you WDW veterans, what are the crowds like the first week of Sept?
From what I've been reading, this should be one of the slower times of the year. Is this correct? And still quite hot?

Labor Day Weekend will be busy (all holidays are at the World) but the day after Labor Day the parks will empty out quite a bit. Then the crowds will be rather low, although the TS restaurants will be quite booked with Free Dining. The weather will be hot & humid (and likely rainy at times).

At least that's been my "September experience".

Enjoy! A day at the Poly is better than no days st the poly!

Was wondering if the parks are empty due to Kay? I heard a rumor that Disney was offering huge discounts to rooms this week due to cancellations:confused3

I think they will be ok from Kay it's Fay that is the problem:rotfl2:

What I have done the last couple of years is let DD buy packs of the foil covered chocolate coins to take back for her classmates. I can't remember the exact price, but I think they were somewhere around $4 for 20. There are different color foils on the chocolate coins and they have different characters on each one.

That's a great idea.

There are also small bunches of lollipops that might work well. It would probably take 2 or 3 bunches to provide enough for a class...maybe 4? No idea on price though.:confused3

Well, we were supposed to be arriving at the Poly today. Not happening. Our flight was cancelled and we had to cancel the whole trip. By the time they could get us out on another flight, there wasn't enough time to enjoy the vacation. Our kids go back to school on the 26th and we need time to get ready for that.

Hopefully, one day I will be able to enjoy that Ambassador Suite. Maybe next summer, but I'm not sure. DH was talking about a European cruise for next year.

I'm sad :sad1: but we'll be back one day. I don't think Disney is going out of business anytime soon.

Hope everyone who is heading to DW and the Poly has a fantastic, memorable, magical time.

Nina

Oh Nina, I'm so sorry:sad1: You did get the refund though right?

Go ahead and start planning that next trip! Maybe it will make you feel better.

Sorry to hear about your trip:sad2: . Your right Disney isn't going out of business anytime soon. There are so many DISER'S that :worship: it so much :lmao: .

We did the mickey shaped lollipops to bring back for their friends. And actually my DD's teacher brought these back for her class also when she went. I think there were 3 or 4 in a package and we used a snack credit so it couldn't have been more than $4. You can take the lollipops apart and give them out individually.

Go to Goofy's candy shop in DTD. You'll find lots of ideas there.

I'm sorry you had to cancel your vacation. :sad1:
Just think about your next trip now. :)

First trip for the family coming up! and I want it to be extra special.
Currently have a LV room booked. Upgrade to LV CL would be over $1000 for the week :scared1: that's more than is in the piggy bank.
I don't think it would be nearly as much if we were to go with GV but upgrade to CL. Those that know the difference, would that be worth it? or would I wish I had stayed with the LV?
I like the idea of the cereals, fruit and stuff for the kids in the morning in CL. Or would I end up wishing I had just ordered that stuff from Garden Grocer and stay with the LV room?

We're staying at SoG and YC in December, and I'm not nearly as excited as I was for the Poly in May. When my grandparents agreed to go on another trip so soon, they assumed we were staying at the Poly. I wanted to branch out and try the other resorts, too, so we did. I'm excited, of course, to be at Disney again, but am having trouble being as thrilled about our accomodations. I want to try all the deluxes before we repeat resorts, but I'm already missing the Poly, and we're not even there yet!

OOOhhh a Christmas ornament I will have to buy that. I hope it packs well and that I don't break it on the way home (we're flying). I guess it's glass? I'll be there next month..can't wait:yay:

I'm sure you'll be fine. :)

That's how I felt but my family and I and couldn't stand to be in WDW and not stay at the Poly so we did split stays with the YC and BC.
I really liked YC & BC but the Poly is still our favorite. :goodvibes

:surfweb: I found the pages I wanted to refer you to:banana:
Poly t-shirts are $24.95 and photos os them can be found on page 201 of this thread. Also check out the photos on page 202. Or is it page 202 and 203? OMG, it's tough getting old!:confused3 :lmao:
OK, you can't go wrong if you check out pages 201 thru 203.
Have a wonderful vacation and know that I'm sooo jealous.

Thank you for your help - and thanks to all of the others who shared their ideas as well - I might go the snack route, I may look into the stickers and perhaps a pencils as well - We will have to see.

Has anyone heard about the weather report for the next couple of days? I feel bad for the people that are having to deal with all of that. I hope it doesn't affect Disney too much.

I am a teacher and every time I go to WDW I take something back for my students. I have taken pencils and I have also taken the large boxes of stickers that can be found at all the resort gift shops or in World of Disney in Downtown Disney. Maybe one of those things would work for you to take back too.

Oh no - I'm so sorry you had to cancel your trip. How are your kids handling it?

When you go to SOG just take the Shady Shuttle to the end of the sidewalk and cross the street over to Poly. You can pretend your in extra part of Poly.:rotfl2: YC looks nice we stayed at BC and would go back in a flash.
