That does sound incredible!! What a way to end the vacation having the park to yourselves like that!!

I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. Sure do wish we could have some pix though. Maybe DH knows how to upload them? Anyhow, were you on the quiet pool side or the East side?

How long did it take to walk to Captain Cooks for refills?

QUESTON about the refill mugs....do you still have to go to the checkout to use the mugs or can you just walk up and refill whenever you want and not have to wait in any kind of line?

From Fiji, it took about 2 minutes to get to Captain Cooks for refills.

Not sure about your question on standing in line but I know we never did, so I hope not! Once we purchased our mugs we just returned, refilled and left at our leisure, and often it was through the "pool door" and never even went near the cashier. So I'd say NO, you don't have to wait in line each time, but I could be wrong? :confused3

Hi,

We are frequent visitors to Florida and are staying at the Polynesian next April 2009.

I am sure they do but can anyone confirm you can order breakfast via 'room service', is a menu available in the room? and also is room service available all day?

Many thanks.

Yes, breakfast is available through room service.

Yes, a menu is in your room and if not, the housekeepers or front desk can replace the one that should be there.

Yes, room service is served from approximately 6:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. I think--it could be midnight, not quite sure on that one. If you look at the beginning of this thread, you will probably find a menu and exact hours. :thumbsup2

Sorry I can't provide exact hours, but all day pretty much describes it. You can even order room service for poolside delivery at lunch! ;)

After reading the Unofficial Guide, I requested the following of my travel agent: "If possible, we would love to be in the Tokelau longhouse, 3rd floor, rooms 3901- 3913 or 3939-3948, or the corresponding rooms on the second floor.
According to what I've read, that would mean a large room, a balcony,
and an off shot of being able to see the fireworks over the castle, all
for a Garden View price."

To be honest, if I were doing it again, I would request Tokelau, but not particular rooms. The sideways view of the lagoon didn't really add (or subtract) from our enjoyment, and the extra things might have gotten in the way of us getting the balcony I really did want. I think I would just request 2nd or 3rd floor Tokelau and let them take it from there.

The walk to Captain Cooks, the Great Ceremonial Hall or the Volcano pool was probably 3 minutes (though I walk like a New Yorker. Your mileage may vary :) ) The walk to the TTC for the Epcot monorail was probably 10 minutes. (It would have been much shorter had I walked it alone, but I was always with the whole crew.)

And for the refills, you just walk in, grab your coffee( or whatever) and walk out. FYI- they had mugs with 2 different handle colors. I was blue, Peter was black. It made things easier, since I drink tea and he drinks coffee.

Thanks for that info . I also requested a third floor in Tokelau (or Tahiti, we want to be close to the TTC and the Ferry). I'm glad they honored your request:) gives me hope.

I'm curious...we have booked theme-park view. From the map I've seen, it looks like that means we will either be in Tahiti, Tokelau, or Hawaii. Is Hawaii ALL Club Level? Meaning we'll probably be either Tokelau or Tahiti?

I'm considering requesting Tahitit because of its proximity to the TTC -- we're going to DHS one day and EPCOT two days, as well as MK.

Of course, we'll also be at 'Ohana one night, and our DD will be at the NeverLand Club on two nights, so we'll definitely be in and out of the GCH as well...

Any suggestions?

Thanks I have found it now on the thread - just ensuring we have everything covered, our son is Autistic and isn't a big fan of restaurants. :thumbsup2

We also just returned Sun. from our first stay at the Poly. Had an incredible time, the resort was just lovely with the flowers in full bloom so many beautiful details to take in. I also requested Tokelau as it seemed in a central location, we were in 1936 with a garden view and easy access to the TTC path. The room was very spacious and my 12 yr. old slept on the couch bed all week, it was made up for him each day. We only had the one sink in the bathroom, but the vanity had plenty of room for all of our toiletries. We used the provided shampoo and shower gel all week and loved it.
Transportation was great, never had to stand on a bus and never stopped at GF when we rode it, buses never seemed full. You can't beat staying on the monorail for the MK or the walk for the EPCOT monorail. It just seemed like it was so easy to get anywhere.
Never ate at O'Hana's but did call one day and was able to get into Kona's for lunch, the crab cakes are yummy!! Was not impressed with Capt. Cook's, there just seemed to a very unpleasant smell in there, not sure what it was.
Overall, our trip was great, really enjoyed easy access to MK as this is my fav park, went over one evening and just walked around Main Street and saw things I've always just rushed past before.
Any question please let me know.

Glad to hear you found the information! Room service can be a Godsend--I should know, I spent a vast amount of time in the room during our last trip due to illness. I can highly recommend the chicken noodle soup on the kid's menu! :thumbsup2

For everyone that was just there are you going through withdrawel? :guilty:

I keep thinking this time last week we were at.......

Aliwas....welcome back and I'm glad you had a wondeful time! Do you have any pix of your view outside of your Tokelau room?? (I'm xtra curious since that's the bldg I requested) Which side were you on? Glad to hear the bus service was so easy, too!

I beleive others have mentioned the smell around Capt Cooks. I can't remember what that was all about though....but it sounds like a famalier complaint for some reason.

Is it bad to make too many requests for your room??..I only requested a bottom floor bc that was most important to us with our toddlers, but now am wondering if I need to request a specific longhouse. We have never stayed at the Poly so I dont have a favorite yet...thought I'd just let the magic happen. Now I'm a little nervous. What should I do?

I did not take any pictures of our view, it was basically the pathway you take to TTC. We never sat on the patio, seemed like a lot of foot traffic on the path, not very private. Usually if we were in the room we were resting on the bed.
I have no idea what the smell at Capt. Cook's was, maybe some spice? I found it very unpleasant so we would run in and grab some milk to take back to the room.

Last week at this time we were finishing lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table! Glad to know I am not alone.:scared:

This time last week I was with my DS12 at WWOS trying to get Tampa Bay Bucs players autographs. We then went to HS and walked around awhile, wait for TSMania was 100 min.!!

I'm just starting to work on my 2009 plans. I really really want to stay at Poly. It's my dream resort. So that being said. I'm trying to figure out which long house to request since I'm hoping to reserve very soon. I need something that is going to be a short walk to the GCH, pool, monorail and buses. My Mom is in need of a hip replacement and not sure if this will be done before our trip. So walking long distances is challenging. I also will have a 2 and 8 year old to keep in mind when planning as well. Any help you guys can give is greatly appreciated.
