This may be a silly question.. but how do you tell which buildings are which.. I know the years, but don't know how to decipher between which is building 1 or building 10, etc!? Thanks so much!!:confused3

Not a silly question at all. Here's how it works. The first number of your 4 digit room number is the building number. The second number is the floor. The 3rd and 4th are the room numbers. So, when I was in room 6266, we were in 70's building 6, which is the one with the giant Mickey phone. 2nd floor, room number 66. They just start and one end of each floor and go one after the other. When I was in room 0125, we were in building 10 (which is 0), floor 1, room 25 (which is the last one in the corner). I think each wing as 25 rooms. Building 10 is the 70's building with the Big Wheel. The building number is not related to the decade. So, building 7 is in the 80's not the 70's.

Okay got it!! Thank you so much!!:thumbsup2 Trying to figure out a request...we have requested connecting rooms and ground floor for my sister's wheelchair, but if I could swing it I would like a refurbed room as well!! So we shall see! :) Have a wonderful day...thanks again!:goodvibes

I am here now. My daughter was so exhausted, we came back to POP early today and I walked the whole property-well most of it! Based on open doors and windows....

Bldg. 1 (I didn't go to floor 3 or 4th) UNTOUCHED
Bldg. 2 UNTOUCHED
Bldg. 3 COMPLETE
Bldg. 4 - flr 3&4 COMPLETE/flr 2 done except for 1 wing/ground floor UNTOUCHED
Bldg. 5 - COMPLETE
Bldg. 6 - COMPLETE
Bldg. 7 - COMPLETE
Bldg. 8 - COMPLETE
Bldg. 9 - COMPLETE
Bldg. 10 - COMPLETE

In my quest to be accurate-or anal-, for my run warm-up and cool-down, I "hugged" the buildings and was able to see in about a dozen or so windows in bldg1&2. Off all of them, one room was returned-2142. Looking at the other rooms, I realized how nice the new carpets are!

Okay, off the iPhone for the day-on to bigger and better things-Animal Kingdom!

Thank you so much Tammi! I was going to request bldg 1 or 3 but will go for 3. I'm there in 21 days. :woot: And yeah, I'll be doing the workout before the parks too. Never got that but now i do. Have a great day!

We're just back from a 7 night stay, 8/20 to 8/27. Overall, it was another fabulous stay--it was our third stay in August, three years in a row.

The refurbed room was great, and we managed fine with the smaller drawers. I hung up most of mine and my husband's clothes, then split a drawer with him for our underwear and socks. I gave each of the kids their own drawer, and it was plenty of space.

We loved the new room with its flat screen TV and privacy curtain. We were placed exactly where we requested--fourth floor, Building 6, facing the lake. This was the third time in a row where we got exactly the location we requested. So if you have a specific request, make it because our experience with room requests is 3 for 3.

The food court was great! We liked the new things on the menu, especially the fresh omelets for breakfast. And don't miss getting an Apple Blossom sundae at the ice cream counter. It was the apple crisp recipe they serve at Columbia Harbor House topped with vanilla ice cream. OMG! I didn't see it until our day and that was a good thing because I would have had it many more times. It was absolutely delicious. :)

Oh yeah, that reminded me. My DD had brought her refillable Build-A-Cup to get a frozen coke at Goofy's Candy Co. We took it there, and they gave us a refill but in a plastic throw away cup. He said he was told they were not allowed to refill the actual mugs because of "sanitary reasons". He didn't understand any better than we are how it is unsanitary. Believe me, my husband is a biochemist. Its not unsanitary! Why they came up with that one, who knows? Afterall, the refill stations you're refilling right into the old mug? :confused3 If they think the CM is going to get germs from the mug, then certainly gloves are an option. The bakery workers wear them anyways. I wonder why Boardwalk would be different than the other deluxes? I refilled at Beach Club on my way to Beaches & Cream, and I didn't have to hand it to anybody.

In my opinion, it is very wasteful and just adds to the volume of solid waste to use disposable cups when a refillable one is right there!! In fact I'm beginning to think that the whole disposable mug thing isn't green enough. We bought new mugs for our recent trip because our old mugs were out of date. Yet perfectly good!! Now, at home I have 11 Disney resort refillable mugs, 5 Royal Caribbean refillable mugs and 3 Colonial Williamsburg refillable mugs. How many refillable mugs do I need? Where does it end? I think it would be great if I could just return with my old mug... pay the $13.00 fee or whatever, and get a sticker for my mug with the current year on it.. or something like that. The way they put stickers on license plates every year instead of making new ones. Now... where's the suggestion box?

I would support this idea! Reducing landfill waste, hooray!:thumbsup2

First off, thank you ALL so much for the helpful advice!! We are leaving this Friday the 10th to stay a POP.

I'm about to put in a room request and from what everyone is saying Building 3 seems to be a good one to stay in.

Can anyone tell me which building is closest to the buses? I'm trying to figure that out and that will help with the final decision! :)

Thank you!

Thank you so much, we arrive @ the end of this month and I was wishing most were finished. You have made my day:thumbsup2

I've always wondered about this. Say someone has Mono at Disney and they take a drink from their cup and realize it's flat soda so they pour it out and refill it again from the soft drink dispenser. They place the part that they just lipped against the little spiggot.....do germs not get transferred? Just wondering really. My son works at a fast food restaurant and he said that customers bring in their coffee mugs in the morning and want coffee put in them. He said the measure out whatever size coffee they order in a regular cup and then they pour it in to the mug for the customer. It got me to thinking about the whole germ transfer thing....and how sanitary refillable mugs at Disney were, where most guest are there for a week or longer and when do they get to wash their mugs? We take a bit of dish soap and some paper towels to wash ours in the room but I'm sure not every guest does that....so again, just curious as to how sanitary it is and since you mentioned your husband was a biochemist I figured you'd be the one to ask LOL

Is there an updated menu with all the new foods added? I printed the one out from All Ears but it's not been updated since April of 2009.....I'd love to know what all has been added before we get there :)

I will ask my DH when he gets home. Right now, I was thinking.... most people drink from the mugs with the lid on, and they don't stick the lid under the refill nozzle. In fact, the actual nozzle is so high up on the machine, that who touches it? Its not like the nozzle on the front of my refrigerator. Many fast food restaurants that have free refills have the machines right there for people to refill their same cups. I haven't heard of an outbreak of anything linked to fast food drink machines. But aside from that, on this past trip to the Pop, the mug wash sinks had cold water in them. In the past, the mug wash machines had very hot water and there was a sign that said "Warning Hot". The signs were gone too, indicating that it was not a temporary malfunction. I wonder why they aren't using hot water, which would be more sanitary.

Also for soaping up in the room or at the mug washes, those Palmolive clothes work well. They come in a box and are dry, until you wet them. We bring those with us when we're staying in a studio. The villas have sponges, little bottles of Palmolive and a dishwasher. If Pop is trying to save money by skimping on the hot water, I woudn't think that would be a good place to skimp. Maybe someone got scalded and sued? :sad2:

Buildings 9 and 10 are closest to the bus stop.

Just got back from a 10 night stay at Pop!! We were having so much fun we decided to stay an extra 3 nights with the Summer special. I did online check in, I also requested a room in the 70's building, anything but ground floor. Got building 6 in the 70's, 3rd floor near elevator facing lake (but obstructed by trees..no biggie). Room was great! Love the new privacy curtain, and everything was fresh and clean. Got a towel pirate the first day, but since I don't tip we never got them again (saw quite a few rooms with a BUNCH of them in their windows). Kids didn't care though, neither did I! Resort wasn't crowded at all! Never really waited for a bus to/from the parks. Super crowded this morning though...food court was MOBBED. No where to sit and people everywhere. Glad we were leaving today!

Couple minor issues, but nothing major. Requested pack n play, wasn't in room, wouldn't have been a problem except that it was 11pm and my DD wanted to go to bed. Also, they won't take GC's against the room for charging purposes. I've never had an issue in the past doing this, but this time I was told I have to rack up charges then come down and pay them off with the gift cards I had, but if my charges reached $500 my CC would be charged, so I had to go to the desk each night to get a running total. Works with cash, just not GC's they said. Not a big deal, but thought I would mention it.

Mousekeeping lady was annoying today. She knocked on door at 8:45am. Told her we were checking out today, kids are still sleeping. Knocks again at 9:45. Then opens the door with her key!! Told her we haven't checked out yet. She told me to put privacy card in door. Fine did that. 10:15..bell services comes to get bags. She sees and asks if we are leaving. I said no, not until 11. She asks if she can just put her stuff in our room then. I had no idea what "stuff" she was talking about. I was very confused. Couldn't really understand what she was saying. I said we will just leave now and we left a few minutes later!

Overall had a great stay. We stayed at SSR in January and I have to say I much prefer POP! Easier to navigate the resort, less waiting for busses and the options for the food court are great.

Oh and I previously asked about Peanut Butter and it's free in the food court cooler next to the cream cheese. So if you have a kid that doesn't like jelly in the uncrustables..You can get 2 slices of white/wheat bread for .69 and some PB for it.

Thanks for the review. Last year our maid kept coming to our room at 8 am. We explained to her we don't usally leave the room til 9am. So by the third day we just put our sign on and took it off. The only problem is the day we did the water parks and was back at pop between 2 and 3 and our room was never cleaned.

Yummmm...apple blossom sundae sounds wonderful! :cloud9: New things on the menu? Is there more?

Where does the Generation Gap bridge lead ?

Last year, and I assume still, the Generation Gap bridge leads to a dead end of landscaping. I assume now you'll be able to look through the trees and bushes for a closer look at the new construction (or reconstruction) for the Disney Animation Suites.

There are free jelly packets but no free peanut butter packets. We bring a jar of peanut butter with us and grab the free packets of jelly. I was corrected this evening by my better half. I must have lost my mind...the new jar of PB is sitting here looking at me, ready to be packed.

We are leaving in 6 days as well. It will be a long 6 days. I am sure that we will cross paths and not even know it
