What's the best room location for a preferred room, close to the food court and busses?

I really think the "best room" is really a personal thing. For us the "best room" is a first floor room not in the preferred ~ but near a pool (not the main one) :)

For someone else the 4th floor may be the best right near the main pool.

We like quiet and easy to get in and out of!

Back home yesterday after nine days @Pop. Requested connecting rooms with my parents and asked not to have to change rooms (we had three different reservations!) over phone and faxed request four days prior to arrival.
I don't want to start a panic but half way through our stay my husband went to the front desk and asked that all our bed linens to be changed (we had brought our own top, bottom and pillow cases from home that we just put over the hotel linens...we don't like how they use a flat sheet on the bottom, always comes out) b/c he had red bites/rash on his ankles...he has had this happen on during our past stays @Pop...they don't itch. Anyway when we came back from the parks that night our beds had been stripped but not made, no clean towels, trash not emptied...we called Housekeeping and @1/2 later someone came and made up the room. We think there must have been some confusion because of my DH request...but we didn't make a big deal about it and neither did they...maybe if we had fussed more we could have gotten something...

Thanks for your post.... Im so excited to be leaving in a few days.... do you think the rash was from their laundry soap? My hubby has sensitive skin and gets rashes etc easily.. im wondering if i should bring a sheet for him to sleep on..

We are just back from our 8 nights stay at POP. We had a BLAST, met lots of great people from all over the world and enjoyed every moment of it.

I will say that I do not believe that requests are being looked at. When I originally booked my trip in February, I requested a king room (handicap accessible)-adjoining room with 2 double beds for my kids, top floor, lake view. My confirmations even showed "King room, handicap accessible room, adjoining for kids guarenteed". I followed up with a brief fax 4 days before we got there. I was surprised to find out when I got to our rooms that we got NONE of my requests(not even the ones that showed guarenteed on my reservation confirmation e-mails). We got 2 double rooms, not adjoining, 1st floor, parking lot view. I went back to the check in and spoke to a CM, explaining that I needed a handicap accessible room for our wheelchair and adjoining since I have 3 children in the other room, I also told her that I would really like to have a king bed. She responded "which is more important, a king bed or adjoining rooms because you're not going to get both". WOW where is the Disney magic here??? By this time, I wasn't about to ask for 4th floor, lake view. I would be happy with a handicap king room adjoining, anywhere on property. A manager happend to be walking by and heard her comment and he tapped her on the shoulder and ask her to leave the front desk:eek: and that he would assist me. I again explained that we needed a handicap accessible room for my husband and that I had 3 children in the other room so an adjoining room is a must. I was even willing to take a double room if it was adjoining. He ask if we minded staying 1 night in the assigned rooms and that he could move us the next day. We agreed, and I stayed in one room with 2 of the kids and 1 of the kids stayed in the other room with dad. The next day, I went down to pick up my new room keys and was so excited to see that we now had a king room, adjoining with 2 double beds, 4th floor, lake view, just like I had requested (eventhough I hadn't even mentioned 4th floor, lake view to him). :woohoo:

We LOVE POP, but I would love to see them put air conditioning or even a fan in the elevators. WOW do they get HOT in those elevators. Overall, we had a great vacation, the beds were very comfy, mousekeeping did a great job, everything was clean and shiny and the food at the foodcourt was really good. Our 1st couple of days, we didn't experience any lines at the parks, Sunday at Animal Kingdom and Monday at Epcot, we never stood in line more than 20 minutes, even on EE, KS, Soaring, Mission Space or Test Track. By Tuesday, they got a little more crowded but none of the days were too awful bad.

Any questions are welcome, let me know if I can help.

We have ADR's at CRT at 8:05 and Tusker House at 8:15. So do think being at the bus stops at 7:00 will be OK? I don't want to miss the bus.

We had 8:05 at CP and 8:05 at TH, we got to the bus stop by 7:20 on each day and had no problem getting to our reservations before time. Both breakfasts we OUTSTANDING. My kids LOVED them both. Enjoy!

When we went in March/April to POP, we found that some of the cms were less than magical. I figured it was due to the sheer mass of people that go through POP everyday. Sadly, we also found the rudest people I've seen yet at Disneyworld staying at POP that trip.

Arrived yesterday for our 10 day stay at POP! So far we are loving it here! Did not do a room request, but got 60's building, 4th floor, lake view. We absolutely love it. :). We are a short walk from the main pool, classic hall etc., yet we have a great view of the lake, and it is nice and quiet. :)

This is our first stay at POP, and I must say we are pleasently surprised. The room itself looks like a refurb. Very clean, and "new" looking as far as condition goes. Again, very pleased.

That's about it for now, have a great week all. Back in 10 days!

I think part of the problem with getting your requests is that there are only 6 rooms in the entire resort that satisfy all of your requests. When you factor in the sheer number of people who make room requests (particularly king rooms and connecting rooms,) it's easy to see why you didn't get what you requested.

I'm glad that you ended up getting what you wanted and that you had a great trip!

Wow, everything I needed to know about POP! Awesome job!!
We will be staying at POP for the first time in 16 days!!! :cool1:

We have always gotten our room requests. They do specify that room requests are not a sure thing. Even adjoining rooms for parents and children... they would expect you to do exactly what you did and put an adult in each room... the reason for having to have two adults to book two rooms.

I think they have done a great job.... of course most of the time our only request is first floor!

When I originally booked my trip in February, I requested a king room (handicap accessible)-adjoining room with 2 double beds for my kids, top floor, lake view. I am so sorry this happened to your family - next time, if I may suggest (save this number ;) ) calling WDW Resort Special Needs - have your reservation number and they will block the required rooms for you. If, in the rare instance, upon arrival you did not have the rooms as needed, you cal call special needs and they will handle it.

Some will say just to tell them CM when making a reservation, but this has never worked for us. When we call special needs directly, it always works out perfectly. Once you work with them, they will lock the reservation, so no changes can be making without contacting them directly to be sure your needs are met. Hope this helps, bit am sorry I could not help before your trip.

WDW Resort special needs: 407-939-7807 option 1. Also, in Disney terms an adjoining room can be nearby, a connecting room with a door between the rooms. Fortunately, the manager understood.

We all understand that CM's get overwhelmed with requests, but any request for a medical reason is given priority.

So glad you did have a wonderful trip! :goodvibes

Just curious does anyone know about pool temp in December? I know outdoor temp can vary quite a bit. Last year we were at AKl in mid Nov and we needed sweatshirts at night. AKL pool was freezing!

I went the first week in December last year and the bowling pin pool was like bath water, It was great.

The pools are heated, to what temp I don't recall. You'll probably be nice and warm in the pool but coming out of it will be chilly. We went in December last year and the kids were in the pool as much as they could be. Me, no way!

I understand that there are no coffee makers in Pop (not even to rent) but do they provide you with cups like they do in the other resorts for coffee (like @ CB??)

Are the pools ever like... creepy warm? I don't really know how to describe it, but sometimes when you get into a pool it's just too warm. Like you plunged into a cup of iced tea that's been warmed up by the sun.:crazy2: I guess stagnant is kinda a word that comes to mind? I really think I'm not explaining this right, but too warm pools always squick me out.:guilty:
