Kelly, thanks for the replay. While I understand that's what you are supposed to do, that doesn't seem to be what Buckeye Lurker is describing above as their "closely guarded secret". I admit, It sounds too good to be true, but want to be clear on what the poster is explaining. :confused3

Sorry didn't read his post just yours.

Peaked my interest...so me, DH, and DD7 are on the regular dining plan. We can order 3 "adult" combo meals at the counter service and it doesn't count any differently toward our CS credits? If I understand this correctly this may be a jackpot moment since then DD7 and DD3 (not on the dining plan) can share lunches. Please confirm or clarify.

Here is a link to a thread which answers most questions about the options for children at counter service restaurants.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2479727

It also lists all of the quick service places where kids are able to order from the adult menu. At the other places Disney cashiers are supposed to check your KTTW card to make sure that you are not ordering more adult meals than the number of adults on your reservation.

No dining plan while at the pop. But when we moved to the poly the lady that checked us in asked if we knew the secret about the dining plan. She said that if you order w/ an adult card it doesn't matter what you order. She said they don't keep track how many adult vs child credits. But if you use a child's card you cann't do that. We've not had a need although I have ordered for just dh and I when de wasn't hungry. It just gives a total cs meals left ts was broken down b/w adult and child as in how many are left. Just posting my experience now.

Ugh!! I just wrote out a huge explanation and the Dis went crazy on me and lost it! So if it becomes a double post I am sorry.

Ok here I go again

Technically you are not allowed to talk about how to get around the system of the dining plan here on Dis, so be careful what you say, or your post will get deleted, you will get a warning, or banned.
I am only goingto tlak about my experience as of last year, March 2009. There are 3 in my family, 2 adults, 1 child.

We get all our credits on our KTTW card at the beginning of the trip. I says 2 adults, 1 child right on the card. For Table service each meal we have take 2 adult credits and 1 childs, and on the reciept it says how many were used, and how many for each (adult and child) are left.
With the CS credits, it only says how many total were used.
But I have found 90% of the time they check. I will go to order and before I even do they will say, "you have 2 adults and 1 child".
The way we do things though is we don't order every meal together.Alot of times I get up early and I will get a CS breakfast and then share it with my DD. Later on DH gets something, and he too will share it. In the late evening one of us may be hungry, so we get another CS and share it.
Now unless we are keeping total track of what meals we have gotten, we have no clue how many were childs and how many were adults. I don't write it down, and after a few days you do tend to lose track in you head how many of each was used. So every so often I just throw in one of my orders as a child meal to try and even it up. But if you are going up for 1 meal at a time, like we do, they really have no idea how many of each you have used, since Disney's system doesn't keep track of CS meals like that ...seperated like the TS ones.
So again, it's probably best not to talk on Dis about how to "get around the system". But that was my experience. and I never purposely did try to get around it. I just had no way to truely keep track of how many childs verses adults I used.

You will be using 3 adult credits...leaving your child's credit for later, but yes. In the end though, you would have a bunch of child credits to use on kids meals. If you want to get an adult meal using a child credit you have to go somewhere that does not offer a child's meal. (Golden Outpost in MK) I am not sure there are really that many though. My suggestion if your dd3 is not a big eater is to share with her off your plates or if she is, to pay for her to be on the dp. (upside to that is you would have another snack credit to use each day..and that doesn't have child/adult attachments to it.)

:goodvibes

The way it worked for us (3 trips on DP in past 4 years - note, not the QS dining plan, the one with one sit down, one qs and 1 snack per day) is that the combo meals are not tracked separately for the plan - if you have 3 adults 1 kid staying 3 days you have 9 quick service credits. If we checked out with 4 adult combo meals, that was 4 quick service credits used. It is up to the cashier to check and look at the key to the world card, see that it is 3 adults 1 kid, and then check the trays to make sure the combos are 3 adults 1 kid. We were told this by a cashier who was empathizing with our 11 year old daughter several trips back when we asked to just pay an "up charge" from the kids combo so she could order from the grown up menu, and in at least 16 combo meals since then, were only advised once (very last day of last trip) that the 4th combo meal should have been a child's and to please get the child version tomorrow morning.

Look at your receipt at checkout at the bottom, it will tell you the remaining credits, and it just showed one category of QS credits, not broken down for adults and kids.

Of course, I suppose they could start "cracking down" on it at any time and have the cashiers become more strict. Worse case scenario is you forget one time and end up buying an adult combo meal for that day. In light of Jen's post, I agree and I am just telling you my experience and I am not advising you to beat the system or try to get free stuff. For me it is moot because all my kids are now "adults" for dining purposes. (BTW, quick service QS=counter service CS, counter service is the correct nomencalture, I think. I've just always called it quick service and habits are hard to break.)

Yep, you are right :goodvibes...I forgot about the way it shows up on the receipt. I was just thinking how we use or credits. If we had used a bunch of adult credits, we would only then use child credits in the end. Even a few months ago when we stayed a bit longer (11 nights) we tracked it and I knew the one time dd got an adult meal instead of the kids. I guess I am just a bit over the top with staying organized. (;) that is the nicest way I could think to put in on a public forum) This next trip I know that I won't lose track.. course, it is only one kids credit that I am having to worry about so that helps.

The fact I was wrong about how it is tracked doesn't negate the fact that if you use all your adult credits up front you SHOULD only have child credits left in the end. Not the dp credit police here...just saying how it is suppose to work. :goodvibes

Hi.

December will be my 1st stay at POP.

Normally we stay at CSR and we use their business center to check in/print our boarding passes (within the 24 hour period of our departure).

Does the airline check in service at POP work the same or is their service more for ME passengers only?

TIA!

As of last year, it depends on your airline.

Pop will check you in and print your boarding passes, but only for certain airlines (the bigger ones). Last year, I flew on Southwest and POP wouldn't check me in. (I used my iPhone and checked in on Southwest.com because if you ever flew Southwest, you know you need to check in at 24 hours!!!) Once I checked myself in, POP then printed my boarding pass for me. STUPID, I KNOW!

This year, I am flying on USAir and POP will check me in and print my boarding passes. When you recieve your documents, there is a list of which airlines they will check in. I know last year, they said they were going to start an alliance with Southwest, but I don't know if it's happened or not.

There is a window on the right side of the main building for the bellman - that is where they do the check in/boarding passes from.

Good Luck!

We used iphone to check-in boarding passes last year & they were magically :wizard: slid under our door during the night.

The year before we went to Guest Services at the park we were in & they checked us in our airline (or let DH) & printed our passes right there. This was before any resort did Southwest resort check-in.

How did you use your iphone to check in?

Went to southwest.com & clicked on check-in exactly 24hrs before our flight. We secured our boarding passes & since we had our air travel linked w/ our reservation. I guess POP checks that kind of stuff. We were so supprised when they were under our door. We were expecting to have to to to the airport check-in next to baggage to get our boarding passes printed or print them at the airport, but that Disney Magic was at work.:wizard:

:cheer2:We are so excited...TA called and said that our 'MOUSE MAIL' has arrived. Have to wait to Sat to pick it up. WOW it is seeming more real now. :cool1:

Just got back with my final meeting with TA to get all our paperwork, ME luggage tags, etc...!!!!!! 12 days from now we'll be at the Pop!!!! :cool1:

I have always done my check in from home for SW going and Disney does it going home !! I have done it at Pop ,The Contemporary and the Parks!! Never had a problem !!!

How did you use your iphone to check in?

I used my regular cell phone (that has internet) to check in back in January. You don't need to print the boarding passes, you can have them do that either at the stand outside the airport, or inside.

Does anyone know what kind of pool activities they do and what time they do them? Also, how deep is the kiddie pool?

The kiddie pool is very shallow. There are pictures of it in the Pop picture thread.

There's also a picture of the kiddie wading pool in Post #1 under "Amenities - Pools" that shows you a child sitting down in it so you have a perspective.

As far as pool activities, you'll find a couple of notations under "Amenities - Pools" as well as "Resort Entertainment". Hope that helps!
