Late Summer/Early Fall Incentives

I keep considering a 150ish direct purchase. But man, RIV resale is just over $100 (at least if you look). Restrictions have hammered their value. It's hard to justify the gap. $170 or so for Poly would be fine, which would be $20 or so more than the resale Poly points I bought in spring.
I just sold 100 poly resale - that I bought 4 years ago because I was thinking that way.

Basically, every time I booked poly , I was waitlisting it and hoping to get something by Epcot. I was super happy this year when my Polynesian was switched out for the waitlist on the week of beach club. I simply realize that if I’m wait listing to get something else, then it’s not the right contract for me.

My family loves RIV the best, it’s my second favorite after boardwalk. I would totally get resale except I have yet to see Disneyland or Hawaii, and I wanted to do some grand villas. So the direct RIV the’s the only thing that helps. So by selling 100 resale and adding on 150 I’ll have 400 direct at RIV and all the flexibility to do what I want.

My mistake, it's $2/pt more than RIV at 125, 150, and 200, but it is significantly less than AKV at each of those price points.

I would have expected them to be more interested in moving AUL than either WDW property, but especially more than "sold out" AKV.
I think they are happy with the money generated in cash bookings.

Sad to see PVB got worse, but I am happy for those interested in RIV and CFW.

Any Oct or Dec UY people waiting until 9/30 to buy now? No MB if you buy on 9/30 with an Oct UY, but you can still bank! 🤣
When is the latest you can buy and use MB with an Oct use year

Probably a stupid new person question but what is the difference in Premium, Preferred and Standard? I don’t recall our guide explaining this when we talked a few weeks back.

Looks like the wait years and years to sell cabins strategy isn't working for the accountants.

They seem to think they have a hit on their hands with Poly and can charge a premium.

150 points is the sweet spot this go around.

Curious what other ways you can stack.

Current round of incentives without additional incentives makes it tough for me to imagine another direct purchase. Most of the resorts don't appeal to me enough to offset the high cost compared to resale.

Hmm. Looking at RIV (of course). Unless we find out about a $1,000 Visa/AP or other discount, looks like outside the 150 point level, basically a wash (plus or minus a little) between increasing the developer credit, losing the $1,000 AP discount, but possibly saving on a couple months of dues by waiting. I guess, at a minimum, this gives me a little more time before my October UY - not sure I really wanted more time to go back and forth a 1000x in my head what I want to do 🤣 .

Did a check of the AP perks website - still has old promotion and dates up. Don't see anything on the Disney Visa site either.

Also, for those of wondering about the D23 Gold discount, it is explicitly through the end of 2025 (from the coupon book they send you).

Trying to upgrade to gold and stuck for 2 days with website errors and a less than helpful email tech support.
Yeah, haven't been impressed with anything about D23 Gold - $10 to ship you some worthless crap, but it takes "up to 8-10 weeks," an app that can't do something as simple as load a digital card, and, aside from this DVC $500 discount, a silly coupon book. You're reminding me to make sure I cancel renewal as soon as I use it for my DVC discount - don't want them getting any more of my $ next year.

"Purchasers must communicate their decision to participate in this offer to Developer at 4 calendar days prior to the end of their first Use Year." So, either September 26th or 27th depending on how you're interpreting "at 4 calendar days." I'd probably do September 25th just to be on the safe side.

We had it for a year. I couldn’t see the point of it - and that was back when they sent you an actual magazine four times a year…

I assume you're talking about room categories - generally refers to view and/or location at a particular DVC resort. The Poly Island Tower or Bay Lake Tower would be good examples of this. Standard (or sometimes called resort view) will often be a low floor with a very basic view - could be of parking lot or a roof and sometimes you luck out with something that isn't really that bad (there are some BLT standard views that actually have views of theme park and fireworks, just on a low floor). Preferred is going to get you maybe a higher floor or view of the water/lake - at Poly I think it can be views of the golf course. Premium at those two resorts will be called "Theme Park" where you are guaranteed some sort of view of the Magic Kingdom and fireworks.

Of course, always best to do your research. I did an in-person tour with my guide at the Poly Island Tower 2 days ago. I mentioned to her some complaints about some of the room classifications, and she said she had heard that too and wouldn't be surprised if they re-categorize some of the rooms.

I am just re joining for the 450 savings ( 500 - 50 fee) so $3 a point for a 150 point contact. It is worthless other than that I had canceled a year ago.

Definitely not waiting that long! Haha. I want my points loaded before August 28th to book for spring break next year - I suppose I could wait and borrow 2026 points to save on another few weeks of dues, but seems like more trouble than its worth. (I also have my CCV resale points that won't be loaded until sometime in September, I imagine and, ideally, I'm going to try to sub those in for the spring break trip, but want to make sure I have my reservation guaranteed at the 7-month mark.)

Ok, better get off the computer here. Typing all of this this morning from my AKL savanna view balcony :-) . We have lighting lanes starting at 9:15 (Peter Pan)!

There isn't enough chatter about this. The cabins incentive history has been (at the 150 point level, before any other discounts/MB):
December to February: $30 per point + $1,000 Limited Time Savings ($225 Base Price) - $188 price per point
February to April: $22 per point ($235 Base Price) - $213 price per point
April to July: $24 per point + $3600 Incentive Value ($235 base price) - $187 price per point
Current offer: $30 per point + $4500 Incentive Value ($235 base price) - $175 price per point

It looks like there's finally a trend of them lowering prices to test for the level where people will start biting. At some point, it may become a cheap way to backdoor yourself into LSL (if you're willing to take that risk).
