Morning DDA!

Quick question: our church is have a Silent "Pound" Auction for Salvation Army. I need one pound of something to wrap. Anyone have any unique, different ideas on what I can do???

Was going to say coffee but Elin beat me to it!
Maybe gormet teas?

We rented a car on our first trip to WDW since we didn't really know about the buses/transport options..that was also before free ME.

Now we do not rent a car. When we are coming from a late night we just grab a cab. $10-$12 & a tip beats waiting on a long bus line with 3 sleepy children. As long as ME is free we will continue to use Disney transport.

I made my adr's yesterday for April.

4/24 - Biergarten dinner
4/25 - LTT lunch
4/26 - Garden Grill lunch (11am)
4/27 - Ohana dinner


Right now we are booked for 4 nights at Pop. If SW had decent airfare we can stay a day longer, otherwise we are driving & can only do 4 nights. If we drive my kids miss 3 days of school. (fri before vacation, & the mon & tues after vacation)

Yay for ADRs!! 3 days isn't bad. I'm sure they will be able to catch up in no time!

I won't be making ADRs until February. And if we are staying for 16 nights I won't be able to make them all in one phone call. I am pretty sure you can only make ADRs for 10 days past your arrival day, so I will have to call back to do the rest. Oh, my. I will have to call back EVERY DAY for a week, won't I? That will be fun.
I need to call and order my new DDE card because we will need that in December.

That's their excuse? How pathetic.

It has to do with their cost to insure drivers under 25. It is REALLY expensive to have a driver under 25 on your policy (especially males). I think our policy used to say "No umarried males under 25, no unmarried females under 21." But that was our personal car insurance. Rental car agencies probably use a blanket policy of everybody HAS to be 25 or they pay an upcharge.

I have not told John yet that the Honey Crips were $2.49 a pound. The apples were huge and 6 of them cost me almost $9.00
But I thought they were delicious.

at $3.00 for two apples I certainly hope they are good.

I need to call and order my new DDE card because we will need that in December.

I was just filling out my renewal for for DDE this morning. But I got to thinking... we probably won't head back to WDW for at least 6-8 months, and maybe closer to 10 months, so it really makes no sense to renew since there is no financial incentive to do so. I think I am going to wait and hope there is no major price increase after the first of the year. I just can't see paying for DDE for half a year when it won't be used.

Most of the gifts were Halloween candy. But I did get a cute witch tea light holder. And one of the items Dawn got was a big plastic bowl with a small pumpkin a few apples and candy.

I think I have finally convinced Bob that renting a car is ridiculous for us too. He has always wanted the luxury of having that car so he can run out and get something if we need it. Well, our inexpensive car rental this trip turned into a big expenditure which I am going to try to do something about today.

We have rented from National/Alamo almost exclusively at WDW and many other places. Never, until this trip did they charge us for a second driver. I questioned the agent about a policy change quite vocally (until Bob asked me to stop ) and she insisted that it was not new. But, I have my previous contracts and it has never been on there before. That was $10 a day extra! Plus, Bob insisted that we valet park which was another $10 a day. Plus the tipping. Although it was nice to be able to drive to the Grand for tea and the WL for dinner at Artist Point, I would have preferred saving the additional $150 to PAY for the dinner!

I thought that a second driver was included under the Emerald Club. I know that some other contracts include 2nd driver like BJs I think. Good luck getting it taken care of.

I was just filling out my renewal for for DDE this morning. I want to wait until after the first week of November to order so it won't expire until the end of December '08. I just hope it doesn't take more than a month to arrive or we will be up a creek in December. I guess I could try to sort it out at Epcot Guest Relations, but I would prefer not! (Remember we will be with my friend who got his knickers in a knot because I took too long to go to Guest Relations at AK to get the free ride photo coupons for EE. This was after he refused to get his own coupon and I had to barter for an extra one here on the DIS. I am starting to see why DH is mad that I asked them to come with us again. I had forgotten some of the issues we had.)

So I was sitting here last night looking up Aztec Project ideas for Nick when I got so sick. It must have been the virus that Colby had because it hit me like a brick wall. I managed to fall asleep after about an hour of praying to the porcelain gods and feel fine this morning. So not fun.

I was the hostess at work last night. We were pretty busy early on and we had a 45 minute wait for a while too. Then it just stopped. 7:40 PM was the last time that a customer walked through the door and by 8:45 we had NO customers left in the restaurant and only 6 at the bar. I'm sure it is all due to the World Series which had the opening pitch around 8:20. Everyone here seems to be glued to their tvs. I'm waitressing tonight so it will probably be dead since this WILL be the last game of the series

Hunter received a game for his birthday and it has the whole family waiting in line to play. The game is Katamino. It has 18 different shaped blocks that fit into a wooden grid. The object is to get your 9 pieces to fit in a square area before your opponent does. It is great for all ages. Colby has beat us all several times I think that it would make a great Christmas present for kids of all ages.

We aren't going to have the DDP for April (& probably not August either) so I was going to buy the DDE card..how long should I order to get it before say mid-april?

I think the renewal notice says to give it 5 weeks? The thing is, if you order past a certain date (I think it might be the 5th of the month?) then your expiration is the end of the FOLLOWING month the next year. For example, I want to order Nov. 8, 2007 so my card will expire Dec. 31, 2008. Bernadette knows which date gives you the extra month, I think. I also read on the Restaurants board that there are changes to DDE rumored to be coming in November, so I am a little concerned about that. If it is just the automatic 18% tip then that's fine, but if they are changing other parts of it I might not be very happy. We have overextended ourselves a bit on the December trip so that 20% discount will be handy.

I just submitted the beehive costume to the family fun costume contest. I'll let you know when it is posted. I may need votes soon I was considering submitting a few more, but it took me an hour to type everything up for this one. I'll have to see if I find any time between now and then.
