Ok, all of you car renters......you are making me rethink this........

Explain to me how renting a car, driving, parking, riding a tram or walking a long distance is better than waiting for a bus for around 15 minutes.

If you can put up a good argument, maybe I will change my mind and try the rental route in Dec., if I can get a good price.

One big thing for us is that we can leave the wheelchair/strollers in the car along with the park bags that don't need to be repacked. There is no dragging a stroller on and off buses. We choose resorts that allow you to park just outside your room which means no walk to the bus stop. You get to choose a direct route to your destination. You can pick up supplies at the grocery store or hit the outlet store with ease. If you book through AAA you get the Diamond card which allows you to park in preferred parking which is near the handicapped parking in most cases. No need for a tram. MK kindgom is the only park that it doesn't make sense to drive to as you must park at the TTC and use Disney Transportation from there. It took us 1 hour 15 minutes to catch a bus and ride it from DTD to the Contemporary. By car the trip is maybe 10 minutes. When I'm on vacation I can't stand wasting time. Since you walk to your car there is no waiting to be on your way and you get directly to your destination. We used to ONLY use WDW transportation and thought it was wonderful until that first time we rented a car. What a difference. Chris and I thought that since the ME is offered and it was just the 2 of us that the buses would be fine. I bet we spend a good 5 hours if not more on Disney buses/monorails on our 4 day trip. That is 5 hours that we could have done something else, like sleep ;) Obviously we would have spent some time in the car, but it would have easily been reduced by 1/2.

I guess I would love that! :) I wonder why mine never came? Obviously I wasn't that worried about it! :rotfl:

The girls and I loved the music we heard in the movie...but like some soundtracks it sounds totally different without the movie.

I'll get it done for you this week.

Hope the headache goes away soon.

I have a headache for basically 3 weeks..it flared up this afternoon..I know I am going to stay home from the party.

Right now we have a tempermental 11 year old....good gracious she is already giving me more trouble than Cassidy has.

I liked them more when the drivers actually talked to you and gave you bits of info. Or got everyone singing a rousing rendition of The Mickey Mouse Club March, or got the bus to sing happy birthday to someone wearing a bday pin. Now with the automated messages on the buses, there is no driver interaction.

We had a driver from AK to DTD that would not shut up. She talked the entire way and said nothing at all of any importance. I think that she thought she was funny.

If that's what works for you, that's great! :thumbsup2 This group has such a wide variety of tastes but we can still all learn and get advice from each other.

Bob and I were having this conversation when we were in WDW. I was telling him that when I'm on vacation I want to stay somewhere just as nice or nicer than my home and eat food as good as or better than what I cook. Why pay money to stay and eat somewhere "less than"? That's what being on VACATION is all about.

I would agree with that now, but I remember how broke we were when we got married. We both worked 2 jobs and barely made ends meet. We were lucky enough to own our own home and we had a new car, but that was it for luxuries. We thought nothing of taking a tent to WDW and eating PBJ sandwiches 3 meals a day just to get away and have a vacation. It is really amazing how our tastes change as our finances allow. When we were at POP I was really missing OKW :rotfl: That being said we will camp in our own Trailer at WDW next summer and enjoy every minute of it.

Ok, I can understand your stroller point, since you have 2 of them. Plus, you go in the summer, so maybe you take more in your bags. We go in off-season, and only take a backpack with a few essentials. And I remember your bus issue, but I can luckily say that I never have had a horrible problem with buses. Now I've probably jinxed myself on this too. On this last trip I think the most we waited for a bus was maybe 10 minutes, 15 tops.

I agree. After everything in my life is settled, I may be going to WDW and sleeping in a tent and eating PBJ, so I better just shut up while I'm still ahead! :rotfl2:

Tammi, really it's just a matter of wanting to be on our own timetable. Even 10-15 minutes waiting before heading out to the park is not my idea of fun. Some people think it's worth it to not have to drive on vacation, but I find it more annoying/stressful than just a little driving. And like Deb mentioned, along the same lines, we can come and go as we please. We don't ever go off property, but even just "running to" Downtown Disney, or to another resort is much more difficult when you don't have your own car!

Well that's just dumb. If you are considered an adult at 18 and can vote and join the military, then you should be able to rent a car and without paying extra.

Usually 25. You can rent earlier, but for something like $100 extra dollars per day. Ridiculous!

I'm getting there.... :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Well hurry up then. :teeth:

Yeah, I see your point. We had the resort to resort issue this time around, since we had some early bfasts. One morning we all rented a taxi van, which was a few bucks a person, and the other morning Lindsay was nice enough to drive us over since she had a car. Maybe we will give it a try sometime just to see the difference, an be able to make an honest comparison.

Well I think I've had enough for today. I'm going to bed. Have a good night everyone. Talk at you tomorrow!

Well they can't have all of us crazy spring breakers being drunk and reckless, can they?

I'm going to get ready for bed, too, now that Kyle is finally on his way home. It is waaay past my bedtime. Goodnight!
