FINALLY......

I, too, have some great news to share.

My DH has been offered a great job as Controller for a family-friendly company! Woo Hoo!!

Thanks again to all my wonderful friends here who listened to me vent about his current employer and were kind enough to ask about his job search and send prayers and PD. DH is grinning from ear to ear. He's going from a company that asked him to take a paycut, didn't give him the promised Christmas bonus, and didn't even give him a card for his birthday, to a company that wants to take us out to eat Saturday night to celebrate the new job! He will give his two week notice this Friday (and even after all his current boss has put him through, including taking the credit for all the awesome things my DH has implemented in the year he has been there, he feels bad about leaving with just a year of work there) and start the new job on March 16th.

Thanks again for all your support during his job search.
Congratulations Marci! That is great news. :cheer2: :cheer2: I hope he is very happy at his new job, which in turn will make you very happy.

My older boys both did that and the teachers said they would self correct over time. They both did. I think the teacher used to have them write bed at the top of the paper, then they could look up to see which was the b and which was the d.

Deb

ETA: I should have explained the the word bed is easy to remember as the upright are like the head and foot boards on a bed and the circles are in the middle. Does that make sense? It worked for my boys anyway.

Deb
Yes, I understand what you mean. Thanks for the advice.

I think his teacher confused him. Before school started he had no problem with his letters. He had gone to preschool for 2 years, knew all the letters and their sounds. So I sent a note to school asking how she teaches the b's and d's. Her reply was that she calls the circle part of the letter the belly, like Beth mentioned yesterday, and then working on "right" and "left". She uses that analogy with both letters, instead of just picking one. Like, d is a belly with the line on the right, b is a belly with the line on the left. If she would have just left it at "b" as in belly has a belly. Does that make sense???

Hello all! My Disney euphoric bubble was burst only two days after we got home. :(
My DD got so sick, she couldn't eat or drink anything for four days, took her to the doctor, and with meds she finally is getting better now.
I then got  trying to take care of her while my wife was working longer hours, trying to get caught up after our vacation. I am just starting to feel a little better now also.
DW then had a scheduled surgery on her hand (carpal tunnel release) that she just had done today. She will be off of work for a few weeks with that. The surgeon also found some cysts on her wrist and removed them also. He said that they were clear and that she will be o.k. :goodvibes
My Mom just found out that she has uterine cancer. I took her to Columbus today. They are scheduling a total hysterectomy (sp?) on the 15th of March. They are also removing her galbladder then also. The ct scan showed that she had a porcelain galbladder and that was a sign of cancer also. We are hoping and praying all goes well with that. PD for us please.
So if I am not on for awhile, or posting, please know that I am thinking of you all and am praying that all is well. :grouphug:
It seems that a lot PD is needed all around. pixiedust:
Thanks for letting me get this out, it makes me feel a little better just talking about it, and not holding it in. :grouphug:
Tom, I am so sorry to hear of all your troubles. I'm glad that you and DD are finally on the mend. At least you weren't sick for your trip. Hopefully they caught your mother's cancer in time and with the surgery and meds she will be as good as new. Keep us posted. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.

What a homecoming you have had! I am glad that you and Leighanna are feeling better. I hope that DW recovers easily from her surgery. My mom had the same thing done last summer on both wrists. She said the improvement was well worth the trouble from the recovery. I hope that DW finds the same.

Many prayers and pixiedust: for your Mom. I hope that her surgery is effective and they are able to remove all of the cancer. She, and all of you, will continue to be in our prayers through the surgery, recovery and any treatment. pixiedust:

Yes, this makes sense to me. Sometimes I say that d is for derriere (don't know if that's spelled right and too busy/lazy at the moment to check) to go along with the b is for belly. The kids think it's funny to learn a new word for that part of the anatomy. :rotfl: I'm sure he'll get it soon!

Hi, everyone. Thanks for the PMs and calls. We aren't doing the show because DH backed out and my MIL was her usual self and made it impossible for us to sell certain items that she *GAVE* to us...

We worked a lot out. After 11 years of marriage, I'm sure everyone has had ups and downs. It's been such a stressful time anyway with Rees and the Medicaid. This was just my final straw.

I will be around, but only during the day. I'm going to stay off the computer at night and focus on my DH and the kdis.

Hugs to all going through stuff. Hoping this turns around soon for us ALL! Oh, and my grandmother just called. Her mammogram is very suspect and she goes Monday for a biopsy. Her sister already has had breast cancer. Boy, when it rains it pours.

Tom, I am sending out Pixie Dust and prayers for your whole family. I've had the carpal tunnel surgery, and while it isn't fun, it could be a whole lot worse. As for your beautiful daughter, at least she didn't get sick at WDW. She was able to enjoy the time, and all the effort you put into it.

My mom just went through the uterine cancer last year. I know how scary that can be for everyone. When they do her hysterectomy, make sure that they don't release her from the hospital while she's still constipated. They did that to my mom, and it sent her back to the hospital soon after. Let us know how she does. We are here if you need to vent!

Denise, are you sure your MIL and my MIL are not the same person?
:rotfl2: She "gave" us a kitchen table and 4 chairs as a wedding present, but when we tried to sell them 12 years later, she threw a conniption fit and demanded that we give them back to her. When she was getting ready to marry husband #3 (she's had 5), they had no money for the big reception that she "had to have" (did I mention she's 65 going on 16), we bought some furniture for the amount that she said they needed. After they divorced (6 months later), she demanded them back. DH pulled out his spine and told her "NO!" She hasn't spoken to us much since then. Oh well.

I'm so glad that you will be around during the day. I was so worried that something had happened to one of the triplets. I completely understand needing to focus on them right now. That's as it should be. Just know that we are here when you need us. For venting to, for listening, for loving.

I'll add your grandmother to my prayers. Let's hope that with the Spring will come a turning to good things happening to our DDA family.

 :grouphug:  :grouphug:

Thanks to everyone for your kind words and encouragement. Sometimes life sends you a few bumps, but eventually they tend to level off.
My Mom is going to be in the hospital for 4 days after her surgery and then in a rehab facility for a least 2 weeks after that.
At her age, (71- which to me doesn't seem that old, but Mom has been showing her age lately and has a few other medical conditions), they feel that the extra tlc for 2 weeks after will be beneficial to her.
I know that everything will work out, and that with all your prayers and encouragement, I will get through this. THANKS!
It is nice to have a family that you don't even know, open their hearts out to you. That is why I will always call the DDA my "unoficial" second family. :goodvibes

Denise, I am glad you and DH were able to talk it out. The only time I am usually able to be on is during the day at work. Now that baseball is starting up I will be busy almost every night with both of the boys.

Denise - I'm so glad you posted an update. I was very worried about you.

I hope everything turns around for the better.

I feel the same way about the DDA. We are a family. Most of us will probably never meet, but that doesn't stop us from caring about each other, and worrying about each other. I'm just glad that you'll continue to stop by once in a while. We have to have updates on Leighanna. And now, updates on your wife and mother.

By the way, my mom had her hysterectomy at 73. The hysterectomy itself was the easy part. Watch your mom closely, and if she bleeds from her incision, demand that they do something more. My dad wasn't forceful enough, and they checked mom out of the hospital for a 300+ mile trip home. Before they left, they removed her staples, and just packed the incision so it could "heal from the inside out". It was the worst thing they could have done for my mom. She was positive that it wouldn't heal, and it really hampered her recovery. In hindsight, I would have insisted that they reclose her incision, and I would have taken her into my home instead of letting her travel to her home. However, the incision did heal, and all is now well.

Check in once in a while to let us know how everyone is doing!

Ok, I'm really not trying to be a downer, but Rees' surgery for his nose is Tuesday (I forgot completely about it). The surgery center just called for his pre-op. Calgon, Take me Away!

Denise - hang in there. And thanks for letting us know you're ok - I was getting quite worried about you.

Sending hugs for you and your family :)
