Okay DDA -

I can give some good news - my DH has a prospect for a project at work that might mean a lot of work in March - but will mean a great bonus!!!! So we could use some pixie dust that their bid is accepted!!!!!

Clare - do not read this post - American Idol discussion!!!!!

Okay - AI fans -

I have one word

ACE

I told the girls and they reacted the way I thought they would...One cried the other was stoic.

This has my mom very scared, which of course has me scared. The other times she "teased" me that it was all my fault because I had left her so she got cancer(I was living in England and freshman year in college). I didn't particularly like her "teasing" but right now I would prefer that than the fear.

Hi again,
Sorry for the confusion about sleeping (poor choice of words while I was typing)- rest assured that I will not tell him that Opa is sleeping. I just don't know what to say to him (if he asks). I had to tell him something this AM when I got the call and Mommy started to cry. Basically I said that Opa was very sick and went to live in heaven with Old Katie (our beagle that passed away last year. We have a new beagle puppy that he calls "new Katie"). I told him that on Saturday we would go say our final good bye to Opa.
DH and I are just going to play it by ear on Saturday at the funeral and see if he asks anything or seems unaffected by it.
Thanks again for the advice!
Kristin

Kristin and Theresa I am sending you hugs!! :grouphug: Believe me - I know where you both are right now!!

I didn't get a chance to watch the guys tonight but from what I saw yesterday...love Ace and Taylor and the big black lady who made Simon apologize....hopefully a guy wins this season.

FINALLY......

I, too, have some great news to share.

My DH has been offered a great job as Controller for a family-friendly company! Woo Hoo!!

Thanks again to all my wonderful friends here who listened to me vent about his current employer and were kind enough to ask about his job search and send prayers and PD. DH is grinning from ear to ear. He's going from a company that asked him to take a paycut, didn't give him the promised Christmas bonus, and didn't even give him a card for his birthday, to a company that wants to take us out to eat Saturday night to celebrate the new job! He will give his two week notice this Friday (and even after all his current boss has put him through, including taking the credit for all the awesome things my DH has implemented in the year he has been there, he feels bad about leaving with just a year of work there) and start the new job on March 16th.

Thanks again for all your support during his job search.

 :cool1: YEAH!!!! :cool1:

That is wonderful news!!! Congratulations to your DH. Tell him not to feel guilty. As my sister's regional manager told her recently when she was deciding whether to move to a new store to escape a bad situation even though she wants to apply for another store when it opens next year...you need to do what is best for you and your family. Don't worry about anything else, but finding the best work situation for you.

DH's new company sounds wonderful. I wish you all the best.

Taylor is from Birmingham too which has good luck with both Rueben & Bo Bice. Kim & I share a hometown (or former hometown for him) with Bo Bice. Maybe the Birmingham streak with continue.

Theresa -- yes -- pd and prayers to your husband that his job search will be successful.

Tia -- thanks for the congrats.

DDA friends really do make a difference!

Marci -

I know what a difference being in a company where you are appreciated can make a difference!!!!

Same thing happened to DH last year and we are so much happier!!

I need some advice from anyone who has young elem. age kids. A note was sent home from Nicholas' teacher saying that he is getting his lower case "b" and "d" mixed up. She asked me to work with him at home. So, does anyone have any suggestions or hints on how to help him remember which is which?

My older boys both did that and the teachers said they would self correct over time. They both did. I think the teacher used to have them write bed at the top of the paper, then they could look up to see which was the b and which was the d.

Deb

ETA: I should have explained the the word bed is easy to remember as the upright are like the head and foot boards on a bed and the circles are in the middle. Does that make sense? It worked for my boys anyway.

Oh Marci, how wonderful! That is definitely an answer to prayer. Have fun going out to eat on Saturday to celebrate. You definitely deserve it! I've been thinking about you and your husband all day today, and wondering, but I asked so recently, I didn't want to ask again. I'm so happy for you all!

Hello all! My Disney euphoric bubble was burst only two days after we got home. :(
My DD got so sick, she couldn't eat or drink anything for four days, took her to the doctor, and with meds she finally is getting better now.
I then got  trying to take care of her while my wife was working longer hours, trying to get caught up after our vacation. I am just starting to feel a little better now also.
DW then had a scheduled surgery on her hand (carpal tunnel release) that she just had done today. She will be off of work for a few weeks with that. The surgeon also found some cysts on her wrist and removed them also. He said that they were clear and that she will be o.k. :goodvibes
My Mom just found out that she has uterine cancer. I took her to Columbus today. They are scheduling a total hysterectomy (sp?) on the 15th of March. They are also removing her galbladder then also. The ct scan showed that she had a porcelain galbladder and that was a sign of cancer also. We are hoping and praying all goes well with that. PD for us please.
So if I am not on for awhile, or posting, please know that I am thinking of you all and am praying that all is well. :grouphug:
It seems that a lot PD is needed all around. pixiedust:
Thanks for letting me get this out, it makes me feel a little better just talking about it, and not holding it in. :grouphug:

Unfortunately, we are not going to be on Cash in the Attic. I am going to have to take a break from the computer, and I won't be around for a while. Rees is fine, but some other things have completely fallen apart in the last 12 hours. I'd appreciate your prayers. I'll try to be back soon. Hugs to you all until then.

Denise

I don't know what's going on, but you will be in my prayers.

Hi,
I know I haven't checked in awhile but things are crazy.

DH's grandfather lost his 2 year battle with colon cancer last night so it is very emothional around here.

I skimmed through to try to stay current, but probably missed a lot :guilty:

Denise- congrats on the show- let us know when it airs
Kate- Hope Julia is feeling better with her new meds (ditto to Denise and her son!)
Jo- love the tatoo.

Anyway, this is probably it for me for a few days so if something major happens please PM me!

Thanks!
Kristin

:grouphug: :grouphug: to you in your time of loss.
