Janet,
Love your new siggie picture.

Steffy,
You will have your hands full. You can try to talk to your DS & tell him what you think. Kids need socialization. Emotionally & physically. I hope he comes to that realization soon. :grouphug: for you.

Tammi,
Jealous, me noooooooooooo....I would be busting if I hadn't told my kids yet. You have so much self control!

Jo,
Congratulations! That is great you have stayed close to your DSD.

Marci,
I know how you feel. My Uncle who raised me as his own died 11 years ago today. When I am away I still think I am supposed to call home to let him know how I am. When I see a good WWII history documentary (he was in WWII) I say to Dana "oh we should tape that for Poppy". I miss him every day. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Ya'LL are not going to believe this...we live in Louisiana...and our kids are out of school today because it is cold. No ice on the roads, no snow, just cold....how crazy is that?

:rotfl2: :surfweb: :rotfl2:

That is actually not that weird. When DS was in private school the handbook said that the utility companies may request that schools close in extremely cold weather to reduce the strain on electricity suppliers. Of course that has never happened, so I don't know how cold is has to get before they do that!:rotfl2:

that's just plain nuts!! Glad to see you posting!!

Well, 45 minutes ago we had fresh snow coming down, but now it looks like it is melting.:confused3 The sidewalk is definitely not as snowy as it was earlier. Then again, the sidewalk runs along the edge of the lake so maybe there is heat coming off of the water. No telling.

I talked with Momboss a little while ago. Dadboss braved his way to the airport, where he is now sitting with everybody else hoping to eventually get a flight out. Momboss isn't leaving the house, which is good.

I am doing laundry. I figure the dryer will help keep the house warm.;)

My cleaning is going well. Colby said that I needed a castle building break so we built a castle then decided to catch up before going back to the grind. Look like everyone is busy today.

Steffy I didn't mention it earlier, but there are many many rides that can be done with the parents holding a child. Some off the top of my head are It's a small world, Winnie the Pooh, Philharmagic, Peter Pan, Carosel, Dumbo, Country Bear Jamboree, Great Movie Ride, There are so many more. you will still have a great time.

Deb

I just read this on ALLEARS.

starting January 18, 2007, the price of Disney's Photo CD increases from $99.95 to $124.95:scared1:

Hi everyone! We are back home and keeping warm at last! Our power went out around 5:30 on Saturday morning and it came on sometime around 9:00 Monday night. We hit IHOP for breakfast and then took the kids to the mall for a couple of hours to play where it was warm, hoping things would be better when we got home. No such luck and more ice on the way! So, we bought a trunk load of firewood from some people near by and set up camp in the living room around the fire. It was kind of fun for a little while reading books to the kids via flashlight and snuggling around the fire. No so fun a little later when trying to sleep as the temp in the house steadily dropped.

By morning our wood supply was on it's last log and the electricity was still out and in growing numbers around the city. Sunday morning I spent 2 hours with the kids at McDonald's while Mom and Dad went to church (our potential new music minister was leading the service and it was the only chance to see him before the vote) and Chris and Kristi snuck in showers at the gym.

Luckily, for Sunday night we were able to get a bonus night at my parent's timeshare an hour away and were able to sleep in warmth. Kristi and I kept the kids there until yesterday while the others all commuted back for warmth. According to news reports we weren't expected to get out power back until later today, but were pleased to get a call from Rachel's friend who drove by our place Monday night and saw the power was back on. So yesterday, we got to come home and face the mess that 10 people can make when pretty much stuck in 2 rooms for a couple of days in the dark.

So...how was everyone else's weekend? :teeth:

Now I've got to head back to page 6300 and get caught up!

I want some Disney Crocs. I need to decide 1) if I can make the Beach style fit on my foot properly and 2) if I want red or pink.

Anne Marie - I saw that about the Photo Pass CD. But supposedly now they are including the borders and whatever, so that justifies the price increase. I don't use all the fancy borders and enhancements, so I wish they would give you a choice.

:yay: Tia - Glad to hear things are improving up there! I have been wondering how you were doing! Hopefully the worst of the weather is over.

Tia,
I am glad you power is back. Its no fun being in a freezing house.

Elizabeth,
I guess so but $99 was our limit.:confused3

The only reason we bought the CD last summer was because our friends went half on it with us. My one friend has all sorts of gadgets so he just copied the CD when we got home. The jump from $50 (our portion last time) to $125 this time could definitely be a deal breaker! We'll just have to see how many photos we have on the card after 8 days and decide if it is really worth it. So many of the photos we had last time were off center, duplicates of almost the same exact pose, etc. that if w had been buying it just for us I might not have done it.

Tell me again where you guys will be Aug. 21, 22, and 23. I want to see if we can figure out a day to meet up. Of course I want Bernadette's input as well!:) I know we want to go to La Nouba on the 22nd (Wednesday) but I can probably juggle Tuesday and Thursday around for a DDA meet.

124 for the CD is steep, we will be trying our hardest to get 300 pic on it, to make it worth it...also inlaws are going with us, so maybe we can get them to go in halves.... they need to make themselves useful somehow, since they are already proving to be a pain in the rump in regards to planning! (maybe that's rude)

Yea, our photopass pictures were either duplicates of what we had already or they were off center too. Some were just plain bad so I am not sure we are going to but it this time.

Right now (I am using July's hours as estimate). We arrive on 8/21 & will be at Beirgarten at dinner & plan to hang around EPCOT WS afterwards. Thats our arrival day so I don't think we will be there until Illuminations. 8/22 is our Mk day with Chef Mickeys for dinner. 8/23 we plan on being at MGM.

Well, Miss Steffy... this is a fine kettle of fish! Forgive me for not remembering, but who all is going on this trip with you? Hopefully there will be enough other people there for you to enjoy. I say let your DS and his little family fend for themselves and YOU go enjoy yourself at WDW. In a few years there will be HE LL to pay for that poor little baby. He will have to interact with other people and the adjustment period at that point will be excruciating. for you and shame on them!

I second what Elin said. It is sure going to be hard when he starts school!!! I feel badly for his teachers. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Hi, all!

Well, it's home today for me, too. After talking a practically non-existent storm to death earlier this week, I think the weathermen got caught with their pants down this time around! I was up at 5:45 for an early meeting, and was showered, dressed, and putting on my make-up when I turned on the TV, and all the schools were closing, and there was sleet and snow coming down throughout the area. No sanding trucks were out, and the roads were not so hot. DH and I both thought we'd press on, until we opened our garage door, and saw that our driveway was a block of ice! Needless to say, we promptly closed it and called it a day. We are Texans, after all, and not terribly used to this!

To all of those experiencing nasty or just cold weather - stay warm! :grouphug:

Janet - I've been thinking and praying for you and Robin. :grouphug:

Jen - good luck on the 2nd day! :thumbsup2

Steffy - I'm so sorry to hear about your DS and DGS. I agree with what everyone else has said - you have done nothing wrong, and unfortunately, there is going to be heck to pay when your DS decides it's time to cut the apron strings. That little boy needs socialization - all babies do! Will you have others with you on the trip, so you can enjoy Disney the way you want to see it? You never know, maybe by May your DS and DDIL will have decided that their little boy needs to be around other people. Here's hope. :wizard: :grouphug:

Tia - I'm so glad to hear you guys are back home. I've been thinking about you guys, too. Fingers crossed for no more nasty weather for you! :wizard:

Elizabeth - sorry about DISD. As DH said this morning, that is a purely monetary decision - they don't want to give up the funding for the day. Although that pales in comparison if there is real danger in putting those kids out on the road. Hope you and DS have a good day together.

Tammi - single digits!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

They are SOOOOOOOO cool...I wore red socks last night so you could see the Mickeys better. I am going to go get different straps to change out...I feel so special. :goodvibes

For those who might be wondering....the mickey crocs seem to run a tad smaller than the other crocs.

Not rude at all! You are great to take the inlaws. My MIL will never be asked on one of our Disney trips. I want my happy place to stay happy!
