Have a GREAT trip! My DD and I just returned from a Thanksgiving stay at the BWI Innkeeper's Club. We arrived Wednesday and stayed until Sunday. Wonderful service, as always, and we were only two rooms away from the lounge. The crowds were low on Wednesday and Thursday but the lounge was busy over the weekend. Have fun!

Any more details? How busy was the boardwalk (outside)? Were you boardwalk view or garden view? Which wonderful cast members were in the lounge?

This stay we had a garden view and could see the fireworks at Epcot when we were in the room in the evening. In the past we have always had a BW view so the garden view was a nice change. It was very quiet and peaceful too.
The BW didn't seem busy, to me, but there were people around at most times. I did see the street performers out and ESPN was busy because of several games!
I can't remember all the names of the Innkeepers staff but they are the same ones from several previous stays, many even remembered us! The buses were fine and we really didn't have a long wait (more than 10 minutes) anywhere. I wish we didn't share with Swan/Dolphin/YC/BC thought while at Animal Kingdom.
The walks to Epcot and the Studios were great and the weather was nice.

Thanks for the info--I am missing my Boardwalk! There is a lot to be said for standing out on your own balcony and watching the EPCOT fireworks, rather than going to the lounge.

We were there the 13-18th, and shared with Swan/Dolphin but not YC/BC, thank goodness.

I love our "Innkeepers"....they are so great.

Here are some pics from the BWI that I took when we were there over Thanksgiving. The lobby was beautiful and the smell...oh so sweet!

I wish I could go back with you..have fun! One thing I did notice was...they were not selling gingerbread in the lobby ( like at the CR and BC), instead you could buy a GB house at the bakery. It was very cute but we didn't buy one.
Since Kat Cora's is closed I wonder if they will offer the apps from the other BW restaurants? That is what they have always done in the past...I liked that a bit better so let us know what offerings they have in the lounge when you visit this week.

Nice photos, ohiotinkfan! We left on Nov. 18th, before the BWI had decorations up, so I'm glad to see the pictures.

I am not an adventurous eater at all--so I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the appetizers from Kouzzina which were offered in the lounge.

CR--hope you and your family have a great time and good weather (though it looks a bit cold there right now).

Hi,
When were the BWI rooms last refurbished and what did this include?
We're checking Jan. 2,2011. We always stay at the Poly and I'm both excited and nervous to be trying a non-monorail resort for the first time.
Thanks

Were actually on our way right now. Last night we stayed in Lexington, Kentucky at a Courtyard By Marriott. Tonight we are staying in Cleveland, Tennessee at a Hampton Inn and tomorrow before getting to WDW and the Boardwalk we are staying at another Hampton Inn located in Valdosta, Georgia. We also heard the weather for Orlando right now since our car has Sirus Sattelite Radio because we get the Orlando/Tampa traffic and weather updates, however it's supposed to be better the day we get there.

(waving to CR) HI, CR!!! Tonight you are in my state, the great state of Tennessee!! Too bad Memphis, where I am, is right in the southwestern corner and very far from Cleveland, TN---or you would see me waving!!

I believe the last refurbishment was 2008 - it was completed shortly before I stayed there in Dec 2008. I don't know what all it included. Personally, I love the resort. It's the only Deluxe resort I've stayed at so I can't compare it to other Deluxes. I had a water view room with an excellent view of the boardwalk. I found myself wanting to be in my room more than any other hotel, just sitting out on my balcony at night watching the activity on the boardwalk below. It's so serene out there early in the morning as everything "wakes" up.

It's really nice being so close to both EPCOT and DHS. I think people have said that it's a 10 (?) minute walk to EPCOT? I've never timed it but it has never felt like ten minutes to me - it feels shorter. I also prefer to walk to DHS rather than take a ferry. Most of the time you're standing around waiting for the ferry for way too long and could be halfway back to the BWI by the time it finally arrives.

Enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

We love the walk from BWI to Epcot and HS, especially when it is not summer! Just remember it will take a bit longer to get to the MK on the bus but it is not bad at all...just different. We have never had trouble with the buses. We always get off at the Swan/Dolphin, if they are the first stop returning on the bus, and walk back to the BWI..it's faster.

Since it is a bit colder now you might want to walk "thru" the Villa part of the Inn to go to HS. If you find the right exit door, one will take you to the side walkway to HS...near the tennis courts...but not at the tennis courts. I think it may be one exit past the pool area. We always take that route in the hot hot summer and cool nights.

Have a Magical Trip and looking forward to reading about your stay. We have a ressie here for May and it will be our first time at BWI.

Does anyone know if they still have BW specific robes in the CL rooms?

Many years ago, my mum upgraded us to a CL room at the BW and bought me the robe. She died shortly after that trip and I've kept the robe (weird thing to get attached to, I know). Anyway, the robe has been falling apart for years (she died in 1999 - so the robe is OLD) and is now more holes than terrycloth. I'd love to replace it on my upcoming trip (not BW CL). I emailed BW and was directed to the Disney catalogue, but the robes there are just plain.

Since the DIS sometimes seems to know more than CMs, I thought I'd ask here.

Sorry, but the robes are just "plain" now...just there last month, and used the robes daily. Nice and warm...but just plain old robes.
