to all those who helped me out with my questions including nascargirl, CS Resort Fan, lovesdumbo - thanks for all your helpful replies. I was actually planning for an end of May trip but we had the opportunity to go for 2 nights last week.

Thoughts on the trip:

I just spend some time re-reading the previous posts now that I know where everything is in the Epcot resort area. In short I loved everything about the Boardwalk Inn - I was so wowed by the theming, the little details, and it smelled great too. This is from someone who has only previously stayed at CR and BLT - great places too but not so themed. Even my DH who doesn't usually notice anything made a comment that he liked the theming. I have to admit I never cared about theming before, since I know the whole WDW is a manufactured environment, if you know what I mean. But it really is magnificent.

We had a Water View room 4265, close to elevators, the Innkeepers Club was down the hall from us. It had a full balcony, was actually facing the open green space between BWI and BWV but you could see the lake too. I actually liked it bec it gave us a Boardwalk view and yet some privacy too. I will try to post pics if anyone is interested. I am concerned about returning and getting a room far from the elevators though. I looked at the floor plan and the building seems to go on and on.

I loved the little parlour lounge beside the elevators and we saw the Epcot fireworks from this balcony (4th floor).

I thought the rooms very spacious. We had 2 queens and a daybed. Does anyone know if they are the same size as CR? They seemed to be.

While we were there they replacing the big lawn area between the lobby and the Boardwalk. It was all done in the daytime of course.

I had asked about the boats running early in the morning and they were definitely running at 8am the days we were there (May 9-11). Because we could see the boat docks, I saw a boat leave for Epcot shortly before 8 (they had amEMH that day). We took the boat to DHS. If the weather were cooler I would like to try walking as it was about 30 minutes. But ok for us since it was our first time trying it out. We also took the boat to Epcot instead of walking as it was very hot.

We had the chance to try Flying Fish and it was very very good!!

DD loved Sandcastle Club and the Clown slide. Her being so little, she didn't go very fast on it which was good.

We also decided not to stay CL. It's my wish to someday try it out, but I decided the extra $$ were not worth it for us right now. To begin with, we arrived quite late on our first day. I brought small bottles of milk and kept them in the fridge and it worked out fine for DD. Bringing supplies are not a problem since we drive.

I could kick myself, we had a bounceback offer in our room but I messed it up and called after we left BWI. The CM asked me if I was still checked in. I realized I had no idea since I didn't really officially check out, and I asked for the bill to be slipped under the door. Would she really have known if I had left the hotel? I wonder. Anyway, so instead of the 40% bounceback I have to content myself with the 35% we get as FL residents for our stay end of May.

Actually, when I called I was checked in at the CR. We tried to stay one extra day at BWI. They were absolutely full so we went to CR. The bounceback said as long as I was "checked in", so I thought, as long as I was checked in at any WDW resort I could still use it. The CM on the phone said it was only for BWI.

So, not that I'm saying I'm always going to stay here, but I really did have a magical experience at BWI, highlighted more so bec our next day at the CR had all sorts of hiccups. But with a 3 yr old we have many more years at MK and monorail resorts!

We are torn whether to stay here again at the end of the month, or trying out BC/ YC bec we've never stayed there. The one advantage is the kids club being over there. We also loved Beaches and Cream and would like to try out SAB which we saw while we were there. This is probably going to be our last trip this year.

However we did notice maintenance work ongoing at BC (we also noticed it at the CR). Does anyone know whether the situation is the same at BWI? There's a thread about BC construction - it looks more than just cleaning the facade. Should I avoid it? Am I just trying to find a reason to stay at BWI again? :)

Thanks for posting that detailed trip report and to answer one of your questions the Contemporary rooms are bit bigger then the ones at the Boardwalk Inn.

turningleaf - thank you for the review and the pictures.... I can't wait, we will be there in a week....:goodvibes

turningleaf-I am glad you enjoyed your stay @ the BWI. We were there from 5/12-5/17 and staying in room 4261 which is a CL room outside of the Innkeepers door. I do hope you get the opportunity to try CL one day as their staff is top notch:worship: DH and I were lucky enough to meet lovesdumbo on this trip.

Yes I thought it was a huge balcony too!

I just wanted to ask whether there's any construction/ maintenance going on at BWI right now, in case anyone knows.

I was just told that the boats start running at 7:30am, even when Hollywood Studios doesn't open until 9am. We will have some 8am breakfasts there... has anyone actually got a boat at 7:30am to confirm I was told right by Disney? Thanks!

I don't think we would do the 15 minute walk with DS. We will get up early but like to save our energy for walking in the parks. I'd probably take a taxi if the boats don't run.

I'm not sure whether they run as early as 7.30am. However we stayed there 2 days the week of May 9. We could see the boat dock from our room and I saw both boats leave at 7.55am (one to DHS and one to Epcot). I didn't notice whether any boats left before that.

DH & I have just returned from another wonderful stay at the BWI-CL.:thumbsup2 We brought my Mom with us as this was her first big vacation since my Dad died last year. Boy did she have a blast. DH and I were in 4261 and Mom was in 4259. Our room had a wonderful view of the boardwalk. It had a huge balcony just like turningleaf had. Mom had a nice view of the gardens. She enjoyed herself so much that she cannot stop talking about it. She now understands on why we head there 4x a yr. She loved the cast, the lounge, the food and the fireworks. We got to meet lovesdumbo and her friends. What a treat that was to meet another fellow Dis Board poster.:yay: We never found the lounge to be crowded not like in January when we were there. The resort had a convention going on but they were so quiet. The crowd level was very workable. DH and I are heading to Disneyland in July for the first time with 2 of the Innkeepers cast. Then sfbank and I will go in Oct to celebrate our 4th annual girls trip during food & wine.:cool1:

Thanks for posting your trip report and it's great you had another wonderfull time staying there.

I just got a postcard from BWI to do an online survey. Just wanted to say it's the first time any resort invited me to do that. I wonder if it's because we were first timers there, but nothing like that happened after BLT or CR stays.

I have received those from AKL the last three times we have stayed there. Prior to that we had not seen anything like that. We took the time to praise people by name and we got a phone call afterwards to go over what we wrote.
