I just got a postcard from BWI to do an online survey. Just wanted to say it's the first time any resort invited me to do that. I wonder if it's because we were first timers there, but nothing like that happened after BLT or CR stays.
A few weeks after our first time staying there in August 2010 we also got the same survery and like you we never got one after all our stays at the Contemporary.

Hi All. We are leaving for our first trip to WDW and to the BWI in a few weeks (can't wait!). When I called to make the final payment on the trip, I requested a room with a balcony as I know that some rooms do not have them at BWI. That is the only thing that I asked for as I was told that you are more likely to get what you request if you keep it simple. I had planned on doing the on-line check-in to speed things up when we arrive. However, I have since been told to register in-person instead so that I can request a room in a series that overlooks Epcot. Any opinions either way regarding on-line check-in or doing it in person? Also any opinions on room requests? A nice view would be lovely, but the balcomny is the most important thing for me so we can sit out at night when the kids go to bed.

Well only their Garden View rooms will have views of the France Pavilion and Illuminations, so I guess it depends on what room category you also reserved.

If you've already made a room request for a balcony and that was your only request, you can do online check-in because it would now show on your reservation that you made that request.

However, in addition to having a balcony if you are looking at certain rooms overlooking Epcot and haven't called to request that, I wouldn't do online check-in.

Thanks for the input.:)

I'd appreciate some input on this aswell! I've heard the same thing: check-in online you WON'T get your requests. Why is this???
We are actually flying in late the night before we check-in (staying off site) and can be @BW as early as necessary if it helps to be there earlier to get your request....
:hourglass

I got a great room (4300) that was a standard view, had a huge balcony and overlooked Epcot so that we could see the top of the fireworks. It was a view of one of the courtyards. It was close to the elevators as well. My request was close as possible to BWVs (had family there) and overlooking Epcot. While I think that only a few rooms have no balconies, there are some small balconies at BWI. You could request a larger balcony if that's important to you. Also, I did not do online check-in but I'm not sure that makes a difference.

The "hotel room type" on my reservations says Standard Room.
There is a chance with that type of room category where you might get a view of the parking lot. So if you had reserved their Garden View you would have a better chance of making sure your room would face the France Pavilion of World Showchase.

We have a pool view and I had wanted EPCOT but no rooms were available for our stay. Only 2 days now.

Thanks for the input. I think I will call and request a courtyard/garden view rather than specify a balcony size.:)

Thank you so much for the heads up! :thumbsup2 I just called and requested the Garden View and asked if I could have a room within the 5272 - 5284 range (as someone said they overlook Epcot). Fingers crossed!

So hopefully you guys can help me with some travel times and directions....

I want to go to DTD and get my new D&B 40th anniversary bag, and DH is getting one of the hand made Baseball bats, we want to do this the first day and get it over with so we don't have to arrange another time to get there.

We arrive at MCO at 8:30AM and are taking DME to BWV and we wanted to head to DTD right after check in and we have a late lunch reservation at 2:00 PM at the Coral Reef.

So I was wondering what is the best return route from DTD to BWV so I don't waste a huge amount of time on the buses?

Thanks in advance for any tips or guidance.

If you don't have a rental car and want to avoid using the WDW buses, I would recommend taking a taxi.

We are back. :sad1:

I put a sad face but I was ready to return home.

BWI CL, first day I hated it, hall are long and I kept getting lost. We had an ADR at T-Rex and waited for 1 hour and 10 minutes for a bus to DTD. After our first bus fiasco we never waited more then 10 minutes for a bus. :thumbsup2

First day over with and I'm starting to learn the lay-out. I think my 1st day impression is all wrong. I love it here. We did not get connecting rooms but they were side-by-side and the did make room keys for both rooms. We were towards the end of the lo---ng hall near ESPN. There were no rooms across from us which made it very quite and we were near the stairs to the quite pool. 4204 and 4206. Rooms were very clean and they did get us a full size crib for DS room plus one for our room.

This was our 5 th CL stay and I rate the staff as the best of all our CL stays. They were the warmest, most friendliest staff and I already miss them. Mousekeeping was the best.

We went down for SWW and it was wonderful, sadly though we hit record high temps and coming from Mass where we have had a cold and rainy spring the heat drains you. On Saturday I ended up getting heat stroke. DHS is a hot park to begin with and the heat index had to be 110. Went to bed with chills and nausea and slept for 15 hours. The staff knew I wasn't feeling well and did everything the could to help. For the rest of the week my stomach was not right and after a few hours in the heat I got light headed. No matter how much I drank it never helped. The staff would make me up plates of foods and drinks that were suppose to help with the lightheadedness, but the damage was done and after a few hours in the heat it returned.

The rest of the family had a wonderful time and loved the resort. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 for BWI and it CL staff. There the best, and we can't wait to return for another BWI stay.

Mamu, SO sorry to hear that you got sick at WDW!!! The heat is so dangerous for anyone not accustomed to it. Terrible for you!

I agree that the BWI layout can be confusing for newbies!! First time I stayed there, I just had to spend the first part of the day getting my bearings as to how to get in and out!

Glad you loved the CL staff--they are the very best. Happy that the rest of your family had a wonderful time, and loved BWI.

I must have just missed you! We stayed in 4211. that IS a very long hallway. We checked out on the 18th. Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits was also staying there. We met him on the Boardwalk, and in the Club lounge. So sorry you were affected by the heat--fellow New Englander here--we are too used to 52 degrees and rain!!! it took me three days to adjust to the 95 degree heat.
