Teena - i was just reading your comment about the maps at disneyzone.net and I wondering if the labels on the 5th floor rooms are correct? I was thinking of requesting either 5148,50,52,54 (overlooking the gazebo), or 5195,97,99 hoping for a partial view of SAB. We are booked for standard view but really hoping not be overlooking the front entrance. What would your advice be? Are these room numbers even correct??

Thanks so much!!! See you in 25 days!!!!! :cool1:

I'm sorry ... those are Yacht Club rooms and I'm not sure if they are correct or not. 5148-54 I think would be okay but I would just put your request as "gazebo view please". I'm thinking (and I might be totally wrong) that those others are partial views of SAB but more views of roofs. I'd stick with gazebo view.

Me too. At the risk of sounding stupid I have to ask" is a day bed a sofabed?"
I'm not sure or is it one of those beds that hids under the other bed? Honestly I'm not really daft or stupid (at least I don't think so:rotfl:) but I'm just not sure what it is!

No, they don't hide under the other bed like at Port Orleans Riverside. There are two daybeds, the older version would be uncomfortable for a normal size adult or teenagers but smaller kids would be fine. The newer version is fine for anybody. For more detail on these, see my earlier post about daybeds.

TEENA - I forgot to mention that we are a party of 5, so we need a daybed room. Which might be a problem since some of these rooms might not even have daybeds??? :confused3

You'll get a room that sleeps five if you are a party of five.

Thanks so much for answering, Teena! That is how I supposed it worked. Big relief. :-) (I put the bedspread in the closet and housekeeping seems to understand we don't want to use it.)

Or just call housekeeping on the phone in your room when you check-in and ask for new ones. Not a problem.

Teena - First of all when you talk to BCV23 tell her we're all jealous and wish we were there! Then tell her we want a full report.

I have to echo what Teena said about everyone wanting the "perfect" room. When we first booked the deluxe club level room last year everyone on the boards had pretty much decided that 3691, 2557 or 4557 were the deluxes you wanted to get. We were so disappointed when we checked in and found out that the only deluxe club room available was 1557. We almost switched to a regular club room (BC management was great and they were willing to refund the difference if we chose to do that). Well we went to look at 1557 and we loved it! We were nervous about snakes (remember the snake in the room thread?) but BC management promised to send the outside maintenace people around frequently. We ended up loving the room so much that now we're HOPING that we get the same room this summer.

So what I'm saying is sometimes the room you think is a "lemon" turns out to be a "lemonade" room!

August will be our 3rd trip to Disney (and our first at BC!) and I never realized that you were "supposed" to make room requests until planning this trip. We've always been the "you get what you get and you don't get upset" types. Our previous stays have been at Poly, SSR, and Contemp and I'm sure we could have gotten "better" rooms if I'd bothered to do the research. Our rooms have always been great! We were near the 1st bus stop at SSR which was awesome with 3 little kids and 2 strollers. We were near the laundry room at the Contemp which was perfect when my little guy decided to puke all over himself, DH, and me while the plane was landing at MCO. I certainly wouldn't have known that those things were important until we were lucky enough to get them!
I am a firm believer that things work themselves out as long as you can go with the flow!
I'd love to get a room with a view of upper Illuminations since my kids go to bed early and that'll be our best chance of watching it. But it will not ruin my good time if we get a lousy view!
Thanks for putting things in perspective Teena and thanks for all the awesome info and advice! I hope my kids are lucky enough to meet you in August. I'll tell them that you're the fairy godmother at BC who helps us plan a perfect trip!!!

Yikes! I'm not a snake person. Not to get OT, but what happened with snakes at Y&B club if I dare ask!

Thanks!

In Florida, there are snakes, bugs, lizards and plenty of alligators. The saying is "If there is water, there is a gator in it". Consequently, people see snakes. A little boy today came running into the lobby to tell me there was a snake on the walkway. He was so excited about it. As in homes in Florida and pretty much anywhere (we had a little snake in our garage in Pennsylvania), once in a great while a snake will get into a room. Of course, if you are nice enough to leave your patio door open, you could get other critters in there too. About six months ago, I caught a rabbit that came strolling into the lobby. And ducks are always walking into the lobby and I have to shooooo them out. The back door has a disability door which when you press the button, it automatically opens them and they stay open a good length of time so wheelchairs, etc. can get in and out. It also allows "my friends" to come in and visit me on occasion. Anyway, some people are afraid that being on the first floor gives you a better chance to have "visitors". To be honest, I've had less "visitors" in my home here in Florida than I had in Pennsylvania. But people panic ... including myself when I first moved here. Everybody said bugs get into everything and you have to buy plastic containers to put all your food in. So I did. After six months of dealing with all that plastic and never noticing bugs in the house, I did away with them and guess what? No bugs in anything!

Thanks TeenaS for the explanation on the room types and the daybed situation. I've been a little concerned about the sleeping space, but I feel a lot better knowing that at least I could get a rollaway. :goodvibes

That snake in the Contemporary room still gives me the shivers! I remember that thread well! We aren't huge fans of ground floor rooms anyway (though I think we'd be quite happy with 1557!).

If you are interested, there are several youtube videos of alligators in the BC/BCV canal. :-) Of course, there are many videos of alligators in all the waterways of WDW ... including Splash Mountain.

Our lovely friend BCV23 is on her way. Have a wonderful time.
:woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo:

Have a great trip! Safe travels

Rebecca

Thinking of BCV23 and hoping she is having a wonderful time!

Thanks so much everyone! :grouphug:

HockeyMomR, I'll send the shamrock your way. johnsonet sent it to me last year and I loved it so much that I kept the PM for this year. If anyone else wants it, just shoot me a PM.

She's here!!! She checked in right before I left for the day. Unfortunately because of arrival numbers, I'm needed more on Thursday than Monday so I won't get to talk to her again tomorrow. What a wonderful lady she is!!!!

Hi Teena! I was so glad we made it to BCV before you left. Seeing you made it a great start to our trip. Have fun Thursday!:cool1:

They are the same except for colors mainly. I call the YC the "dark side" but both are very nice and have the same managers and cast members and share all the same amenities, etc.

I agree.:thumbsup2

Cute story and good lesson for all of us.:surfweb:

Great attitude, Amanda! :wizard:

Joyce, the small salads and fruit cups are a snack on the DDP. There weren't any cut up veggies last night in that cooler but I am certain those were a snack in the past. Oh, maybe they were in the long cooler....didn't check that one. I'll look again today.

Hi everyone. Been skulking round this thread for quite a while and have finally decided to join in.

I've been trying to keep a lid on the excitement levels but with 10 weeks to go, it's getting really difficult.

Looking forward to SAB and Teena - I sure hope I bump into you.

Sorry to scare you - the snake in the room was NOT at YC or BC it was at the Contemporary and last year there was a whole thread about it.

Thanks. With my luck the snake will have decided it didn't like the Contemporary and switch resorts to the BC! :rotfl2:

I'm terrified of snakes so I had the same thought! I did requests a room "not on the 1st floor" so hopefully it won't be an issue!

Thanks again Teena-you'll be fed up "talking" to me before I even make it to the beach club (really hope not though). Found your post really helpful and know what it is now.

Club Level - Beach Club: You can only book a club level standard/garden view if you are a party of five or a deluxe room. You cannot book a party of five in a club level water view. Only half of the club level standard/garden view rooms sleep five (have a daybed). All the deluxe rooms sleep five (have a daybed). There are a "few" waterview club level rooms that have daybeds but because there are so few, you cannot book that category if you are a party of five. If you have four people in your party and book a CL waterview, you can certainly request a daybed but it is not guaranteed of course. I don't spend much time over at the YC but I believe the same goes for over there.

Thanks for this explanation.
